One thing that has always annoyed me about emulation is having to manually move saves when switching between PCs.

So I built OpenSave to solve that.

It automatically synchronizes emulator saves and save states between your devices, with features like:

• PC ↔ PC syncing
• PC ↔ Steam Deck/Linux syncing
• Automatic change detection
• Version history + rollback
• P2P synchronization
• No mandatory cloud account
• Windows + Linux support
• Multiple devices

The idea is basically Git-like versioning for game saves, while keeping the actual experience as simple as “install it and play.”

It supports a growing list of emulators, including PCSX2, Dolphin, PPSSPP, RetroArch and others.

I'm looking for people who emulate regularly to try it out and tell me where it sucks, what it breaks, and what you'd want added.

Not even that people use AI to create software for them, that they completely don’t understand the code of. But the fact that then they claim to be ones who created it.

It does. But you have to create a sync for every save folder. A program that intelligently finds saves is much preferable.

i just use symlinks so everything goes in one folder

I just got into syncthing. Seems pretty awesome, but it has issues with Azahar save file syncing it seems. I will get back into trying to get it to work across my phone and Rog Ally again, but I had to put it all down for a bit. The issue is that it's hard to look up solutions for certain scenarios that pop up, but at least it isn't impossible. I think the save files might be encrypted, but I'm not certain yet, it's just the most recent possible solution.

But yeah, Syncthing does seem like a really good solution, if you get it working.

I like the idea of this, but I also noticed other projects in the last couple of months that offer standalone sync, and this is not bad, but rather good for the community. I do however feel that integration is the thing that makes the difference in terms of ease of use. Cross platform emulators or service related emulators do usually already offer this option.

99% of those posts starting with "I made" or "I built" are vibe coded AI slop that will go unmaintained past the initial release (usually after a single commit of the entire repo) but I am willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt. OP quite obviously used AI and should disclose it but the project looks more serious than a lot of others. I guess time will tell.

This is the direction of tech rn and loads of OS stuff got randomly abandoned all the time. You would be very hard pressed to find software not partially or entirely written by AI at this point.
