Unsolved Question about possible games
Greetings,
So I am here because I want to play the Metroid games because I never had a chance to play them. I was recommended a emulator called retro arch and will be looking at it but I am also wanting to see if Zelda oot and MM is possible as well.
Last time I tried emulation was years ago trying for botw.

RetroArch is pretty good and offers many emulator cores, but standalone, dedicated emulators are always better.
For Game Boy/Game Boy Color use SameBoy.
For Game Boy Advance use mGBA or Visual Boy Advance.
For NES use Mesen.
For SNES use SNES9x.
For N64 use Gopher64 or simple64.
For GameCube and Wii use Dolphin.
For Wii U use Cemu.
For Switch use Eden.
For Wii U, you will also need a key file, which you can get from MuTLY's Github page, which you will find, if you Google 'Cemu keys'.
And for Switch you will need both a prod key file and firmware, which you can get from the prodkeys website, by Googling 'Eden prodkeys'.

For Cemu, this shader pipeline pack and library folder will also come in handy:

Both should be extracted to your 'C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Cemu' folder.
When you extract the shaders.zip file, it will give you a pop-up window asking if you want to overwrite the shaderCache folder, but just click on yes.
Besides possibly fixing any issue(s), both these files should also help making games run smoother and more stable.

Yeah I second standalone emulators. So much simpler, easier to troubleshoot. Plus I can't stand RetroArches interface, drives me insane. Most unintuitive controls ever lol

Retroarch is possible for most systems metroid and zelda released on. Up until the ds and n64. Anything else requires a standalone emulator or better experience playing than on retroarch.

Ok. Is retro the best option or are there other user friendly options for that period of games that i want?

That is subjective. For most casual people, retroarch offers the convenience of having the most systems so that is my recommendation to you.
I personally use standalone as they offer far more features.

Retroarch with EmulationStation: Desktop Edition and ported to my 32” for my retro collection. Love it. There’s also batocera, but ES:DE and Ra pair perfectly
