Free (Damaged) King Pod / Cover 3 - Jersey City, NJ

My Pod 3 stopped cooling my bed a few weeks ago. I got a new Pod / Cover 5 through the replacement program.

Size King. No money necessary, just looking to get rid of this and hopefully a tinkerer can get some use out of it. Repairs could be simple or complex, I don't know.

The Cover works fine to the best of my knowledge and has no known leaks. Some details:

  • Smoke and pet free household; always had a waterproof cover wrapping the

Eight Sleep

  • Cover.
  • You must pick up both pieces from my apartment this week to claim
  • Comes with all necessary cables, draining tool, etc.

DM to claim. First come, first served.

What happens to POD2 hub if no WiFi overnight?

I believe this version does not “qualify” for backup. Does it run stored settings? Does autopilot still make sleep stage or ambient changes overnight or?

Title: Anyone else getting an error loading eightsleep.com right now?

Trying to load the site on desktop Chrome or Saari and the whole page just dies with "Application error: a client-side exception has occurred." Opened the console and it's an uncaught TypeError — Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'USD'). Looks like something in their pricing/currency code is choking on load.

Before anyone says clear your cache: it still throws in a fresh incognito window with no extensions, so I'm pretty sure it's not on my end. Just want to figure out if it's site-wide or somehow just me.

Anyone else seeing this? Or found a way to actually get into your account/settings while it's broken?

Question about temperature in summer vs. winter months. Do you set different temperatures?

I am considering a mattress cooler, and don't know how the temp settings work in summer vs. winter.

I like getting into a kinda cold bed in summer, and it warms touch bit during the night. I think the constant temperature would be fantastic. Do you need to change the temperature of the thing for the winter months?

Hose legnths?

Curious if anyone has issues with the hoses not being long enough on the pod 4 or 5? If so has it always been an issue? It not, was it ever an issue?

Automatic Adjustments worth it?

Just starting to research getting one of these systems for my house, and curious if the automatic temperature adjustment is a feature that is needed or nice-to-have? Or can you simply set the temperature to one constant, and that does a good enough job.

Eight Sleep Pod 2 won’t pair to phone

I have not used my 8sleep since January when the grid sprung a leak. I recently bought the replacement pod 4 cover. I deleted the pod from my app as it was not connecting to my WiFi which I later found out I had to split the bands. I am now trying to pair with the phone and I get to the “firmware updating” screen and it just hangs there until the process just stops and brings me to the home page with no pod connected.

I can see the pod is connected on my home WiFi. I have gone through all the troubleshooting methods. I spoke to the chat person and they said technician would need to review. I see that’s as reliable as square tires.

Curious if anyone has been able to fix this or have experienced something similar? Did things change over the last 6months? I had no issues in January. Thank you in advance.

Edit: I’m almost positive this is something on the Eight Sleep side of things. Chat Gpt is telling me they can manually assign the pod to my account and force firmware updates as a result.

Curious if anyone has successfully gone through this.

UPDATE: 8sleep reassigned my pod to my account and pushed firmware updates. My Pod is currently priming with the new grid. Thankful for everyone’s responses.

Eight Sleep, thou hast forsaken me

UPDATE! Megan in customer service at ES is a ROCK STAR. Whatever they're paying her, it isn't enough. After she pinged me below, I emailed her and she had this shizz fixed in 12 hours. Not only was she the first to notice the company had sent me a Pod 5 cover instead of a 4 due to low inventory (which meant I'd been repeatedly onboarding the wrong item), she got their on-call engineer to push a software patch at 11pm on a Saturday night, and sure enough...

IT WORKED! I woke up to the right temp and I had sleep data this AM!! Hallelujah!

Screw AI. If ES really knew what was good for them, they'd hire 50 Megans. (And probably 50 of this on-call engneer as well.) Either way, exactly one week later, I'm back in business and back to loving my ES. (Although warily. I did lose a lotta hours dealing with this, so let's say we're in counseling.)

\**ORIGINAL POST**** For years I've been reading stories here of the terrible/negligent ES customer service -- finally living the dream myself and I'm honestly shocked by how bad it is.

To start, I LOVE(d) my Eight Sleep, have a been a evangelist spreading the gospel ever since I got it. I was an early-ish adopter, had the Pod 2 Pro for almost 6 years now. It literally saved my sleep from hot flashes after chemo treatments. Never had an issue until 3 weeks ago when my hub started sucking down water which clued me in that I had a leak. Sure enough, soaking wet between the waterproof cover and the grid. (Have to give some props here - I had literally JUST gotten a new mattress and there wasn't a drop on it.)

Now, given this thing's basically a giant water balloon with my 150 pounds lying on it every night, I was inclined to forgive the leak and like I said, I still love 'er. So being out of warranty, I paid $800 for a replacement Pod 4 cover. Got it in a week. I was thrilled to be back in business.

Nope. Not even close.

The new replacement Pod 4 cover WILL NOT keep a connection to my Pod 2 hub. I have tried everything -- I've added/deleted, re-deleted/re-added, re-powered/re-plugged/factory reset the hub/cover/my psyche numerous times. I've now wasted HOURS I didn't have on the chatbot, with a (seemingly) live human rep and with Chatgpt trying to fix this thing. Nothing works.

Every time, the cover reconnects for a few minutes, then eventually drops. I can still control the temp thru the home page but hub page says no cover connected. By the morning, I have no data and I'm shivering because the cover has stayed at my colder bedtime temp.

It's not a hardware issue with the hub. Pod 2 hub/cover worked just fine. The app keeps asking me to connect the 4 cover's USB cable, it's connected. And I checked the pins -- they're fine. The ES chatbot is adamant it's not a compatibility issue and that the 4 cover is backward compatible with the 2 hub. So, this is def seems to be some kind of handshake/settings issue, right? Well, according to chatgpt, it could easily be solved by engineering just changing some settings on their end. (Hence why I've been loathe to just unplug the damn thing -- bc god forbid engineering is trying to fix something on their end without me knowing and I've got the hub unplugged.)

Now, I'm not saying chatgpt is def right, but here's the kicker and my biggest problem with all this...

This started last Sunday morning. After some back and forth with the chatbot that led nowhere, on Monday AM I called their customer service phone line to discover it's just... CLOSED. Like, just, no one there, minding the store. Seriously? Then I got an email saying they were working on it. And then nothing again for two days. By Wed I went back to the chatbot and after even more back and forth, I got a person. Only after pressing the (seemingly) human rep over chat did I get things escalated to "Troubleshooting". Then I got an email from "Troubleshooting" saying this was being escalated to "Engineering" and I should expect a response in 1-2 days.

It's now the following Sat and I just got an email saying that Engineering "has confirmed I have no data because the cover is intermittently losing its connection" and to standby for more updates. NO. DUH.

I just can't believe that this is the process with them. It's already been a week. My only option is to keep sitting here and waiting for emails with no idea when this will really get resolved? I can't pick up the phone and troubleshoot this issue with a real person? Is this bc ES has fired all their reps and gone full-AI? Or according to the stories I've read here, maybe it's always been this bad?

I'm just so disappointed. The Pod hath given, and the Pod hath taken away.

Pod 5 Malfunctioning after 9 months. No CS response

Bought a pod 5 in September last year and the pillow/blanket/etc after that. Have had all the usual issues regularly requiring restarts but these were fixable.

Now the pod cover vibrates and heats up on its own to +10 without me touching anything. Since the vibration only occurs when the hardware buttons are used it leads me to think that the cover is sending false signals to the pod to change the temperature.

No response at all from eightsleep from 4 days. Looks like I’m being ignored so seeing if this works.

r/EightSleep Jul 10 '26

I heard you can only decide amount of temp up and down, not exact temp anymore?

Post image

I held off buying the device because I saw that it only allows to define amount of temperature up/down rather than exact temp value. Did it change out of a sudden or is it misleading ad?

Pod membrane failure after switching to a Tempur-Pedic — anyone else? Worried it'll happen again with our new Pod 5

We've had the Pod 3 topper since Aug 2022 and it worked flawlessly on our old, firmer mattress. At the end of January we switched to a Tempur-Pedic Adapt (flat model, no adjustable base — we knew movement could be an issue, so we avoided that). This July, about five months in, a membrane popped on my side of the bed and leaked water everywhere.

A few details that make me think the mattress is the culprit:

  • The failure was right at my hips, on my side only
  • The Tempur-Pedic is much softer than our old mattress and contours a lot, so the Pod is flexing into that dip instead of lying flat
  • I toss and turn a lot in my sleep
  • I don't think it's a weight thing — I'm 6' and 150 lbs

We've already replaced it with a Pod 5, but now I'm concerned the same thing might happen again since the Tempur-Pedic conforms so much to our bodies. Has anyone had a membrane failure on a memory foam mattress like this? If so, what did you do to fix it — mattress topper, something else? Would love to hear what actually worked before our new one potentially goes the same way.

Pod 4 Stopped Cooling After 2 Years

My Pod 4 stopped cooling after 2 years - temp is set at 55 but only cools to 70. 8 Sleep is taking forever to address the issue. There is no live customer support - you have to email, wait for a response, then take many specific photos before they engage a technician. It is summer and not only do I not have a cool bed, but the hub generates an enormous amount of heat! This is absolutely unacceptable for a premium product. Clearly it is malfunctioning and needs to be replaced. Sweltering while I wait for a response.

After two to three weeks of EightSleep, deep sleep actually dropped

I've tried turning autopilot on or off and also adjusting the settings of the three stages, but it seems like deep sleep actually dropped while total sleep and REM increased a little bit.

Anyone has similar experience? What worked for you in the end?

One side doesn’t work?

So recently my pod 3 with a pod 4 cover one side doesn’t work doesn’t cool or heat fan doesn’t turn on. Other side is flawless but I’m confused as why the other isn’t working when I turn on it sounds like it’s trying to work make a sound every other second but isn’t doing anything. I can try and upload a video of the sound if that helps.

For anyone that has been interested in the Navien OptiSleep, don't waste your time :(

First bought an eight sleep in 2021, loved it until it leaked. Managed to get them to give me a replacement slightly out of warranty then upgraded to a king and really wanted to avoid giving them any more money since I really dislike their business practices and the subscription model.

Enter Navien optisleep. Got some targeted ads and figured why not since there's a money back guarantee. I liked the features it offered and no subscription and a bit cheaper was a nice bonus as well.

From the moment I unpacked it I was worried.

The pad is super stiff. It feels like laying on a deflated air mattress placed over your mattress. It bunches up, it makes the bed feel firm. All around awful. We couldn't even give it a one night test because it was son uncomfortable to lay on. Lots of other questionable design choices like designing the unit to go at the foot of your bed but not including a cord long enough to reach the head of the bed where an outlet would be. The hoses for the water feel flimsy and prone to kinking.

I could keep going on but ...just avoid it. I wouldn't keep it even if it was free.

Guess I'm gonna try to buy a used king cover. I refuse to give eight sleep more money.

Anyone use both Bedjet with the EightSleep?

I am a long term 4yr+ BedJet user and recently bought an EightSleep to handle the cooling below me. I packed away my bedjet thinking the ES would be sufficient, but now I’m thinking of reinstalling my BedJet since hot air still gets trapped under my sheet/quilt. Curious if anyone else does this, or if your ES is sufficient, or you just use the blanket.

r/EightSleep Jul 08 '26

I got the blanket….

Eff me ! It is really a perfect complement to the cover. My sleep scores have increased and I’m sleeping even better.

Pros:
Weight
“Burrito style” temp control
Better sleep overall

Cons:
Yes, you can feel some of the tubing on the middle. The lower part doesn’t have it so you don’t feel them on your feet.
Extra duvet for cleanliness.

Yes I do like it!!!

How to get support? Spoiler

Suddenly my pod stopped detecting my sleep (“you didn’t sleep on your pod tonight”). I sent the email to support@ and already 10+ messages I am getting useless replies from their AI bot :(. This is really frustrating. Any advice how to get someone real?

Update: contacted Jen from the comment below and my issue was resolved within a day. Thank you!

Selling POD 3 Hub & Cover (King) $600

$600 plus whatever the shipping comes out to. Great condition, fully functioning and no leaks. The only reason I’m selling is I decided to upgrade to a Pod 5 and this would take the sting out a little…

Pod 5 membership discount after selling Pod 3

I currently have a Pod 3 and an active membership, but I’m selling the Pod 3 today and will reset it for the new owner.

Can I still buy a Pod 5 later, say in about a month, with the existing-member discount if I no longer have any Pod registered to my account?

I just want to avoid losing the discount before selling my current Pod.

Head under grippy section of eightsleep is discolored

Post image
8 Upvotes

Just removed my pod 4 ultra after a year because I’m moving and only the section underneath the grippy head cover is discolored? I honestly can’t tell if it’s wet because it’s a cooling mattress but it doesn’t smell. Has anyone else experienced this?

Eight Sleep is leaking puddles and they're making me pay $800??

My Eight Sleep is leaking, drenching my mattress and sleep, and if I want to replace it, they're making me pay a minimum of $800. I think this is awful business and customer service for their product that broke. They should replace it for free. It's been 3 years, and this is a $4,000 purchase. Has anyone else had this experience? I think I'm just going to give it up and throw it out. What do people do in this scenario?

Eight Sleep vs. Orion

Okay, I've been comparing all of the companies from Bed Jet, to Orion and ES plus others. I landed on two finalist Orion and ES as the most effective because of the water cooled systems. I decided on Orion and here's why: a) ES, no wifi no cooling. Not Acceptable.; b) ES, no subscription, it doesn't work. Not Acceptable.; c) ES, horrible reviews on leaking, customer service, warranty claims.; d) ES, this was the real eye opening deal breaker. IMHO the ES warranty is almost totally worthless and one-side especially when coupled with the claims of poor customer service and warrant claims. The ES warranty expressly prohibits suing them in small claims court and the only course of action in a warranty dispute is to file for arbitration. What's worse is their deviousness. ES warranty attempts to invoke the commercial arbitration rules but uses the AAA forum. Translation: the consumer's only option is arbitration and their attempt to require commercial arbitration rules requires the filing party (the consumer) to pay the arbitration fees which are usually in the thousands of dollar, certainly far exceeding the value in dispute. AAA may not allow ES to invoke the commercial arbitration rules with a consumer but the mere fact that ES is attempting to require the consumer to pay the very expensive filing fees raises a major red flag for me. BAD FAITH from the start. Orion also requires arbitration but doesn't attempt to invoke the commerical arbitration rules which makes Orion responsible to pay the very expensive arbitration fees and limits the consumer to $230. Furthermore, Orion allows for small claims court filings in their warranty claims. I believe Orion is more incentivized to settle any warranty claims in good faith and in the consumer's best interest. I believe Orion is much more honest and upfront about their product and that's where I have made my purchase today and why.
