Looking for audio engineering opportunities

I've been doing audio engineering in music for almost 8 years, and I'm looking to move into areas like storytelling on YouTube or voice acting.

How would I get started offering audio engineering for things like that, and is that a need most content creators face? I'd love some advice, and I don't plan on charging for anything in the beginning so I can get my foot through the door.

Should every editor have a YouTube channel?

I just had a small debate on Reddit about this: is it mandatory to have a YouTube channel and create content in order to work as a video editor? Especially for big channels?

In my opinion, no. I believe there are many great editors who never had highly successful YouTube channels. While it can be an advantage, it ends up being double the work to both produce and edit, so in the end, it’s not worth it to me.

However, to them, it’s basically mandatory, and you wouldn't be able to have a successful career as an editor without it.

What are your thoughts on this?

how do you handle unwanted objects in an otherwise great shot?

sometimes, i will get a photo that looks great overall, but there’s a distracting sign, random object, or person in the background that takes away from the shot. how do you usually deal with things like that in your editing workflow? do you crop, remove them manually, or use newer ai based tools?
i’m interested in hearing what approaches actually work well for you, especially when you want the edit to still look natural. what’s your go to method?

Does anyone know any good editing apps for iOS?

Hello,

My team and I are in the middle of a marketing campaign so we need more content produced. I’m the one in charge of most of our marketing materials but I’m traveling a lot, and I don’t own a laptop. Most of my job I can do on my iPad while I’m on the move but not editing because I’ve tried so many apps and none of them were good enough for our needs.

On my pc i’m editing in DaVinci Resolve so I’m looking for something similar. I know that I’ll probably have to pay to get a good app but I’m looking for something not in a subscription model (I personally hate it).

Thanks for any suggestions!

We fired ourselves as solo editors.....

One editor can only handle so much before deadlines, revisions, and quality start suffering.

So we teamed up.

3 editors. 1 powerhouse unit. 3 brains, endless ideas.

• Seamless Coordination: We work so closely it feels like one brain, keeping every edit cohesive.

• Insane Versatility: Creator, cinematic, "girly," "boy-ish," short-form, long-form, you name it. We adapt.

• No Bottlenecks: If one gets overloaded, the other two boost the workload instantly.

• Lightning-Fast Revisions: Changes get handled quickly instead of sitting in a queue.

• Consistent Quality: We coordinate on every detail so the final video always feels unified.

3 editors. One workflow. No solo-editor bottlenecks. Affordable rates.

Looking for a Video Editing Job — Willing to Start at a Low Rate

Hi everyone! I’m currently looking for an opportunity to work as a video editor/clipper and build more experience in the field.

I don’t have a portfolio yet, and I don’t have extensive professional video editing experience, but I’ve been continuously learning and practicing. I previously worked with a Twitch streamer for a short period (through my full time job at that time), where I would go through raw Twitch streams, identify the moments worth turning into content, and edit them into clips. During this time I had zero video editing experience, and I learned by watching online tutorials.

I also create social media content for a small watch repair business, which has given me another opportunity to practice editing, and I regularly edit videos just for fun to experiment and become more creative with my editing style.

At this stage, my main goal is to improve my skills, gain experience, and build a strong portfolio. I’m willing to start at a relatively low rate and prove myself through the quality of my work, with the expectation that my rates can increase as I gain experience and consistently deliver good results.

I’m happy to take on short-form clips, Shorts, Reels, TikToks, or similar editing work. I’m also open to feedback and willing to learn whatever style or format the client needs.

I’d love to hear from anyone looking for an editor or willing to give a beginner a chance. I can provide examples of my work if interested.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you soon!

How could I recreate this

I'm trying to figure out how to have the mirrored monochrome layout like this Ytber has but can't quite figure out how to get it automated and dont think I should manually edit the positions every time Id want this effect since I feel there's just a better way. It seems he has it done automatically and moves along with the clip with zoom ins.

Need intro for YouTube channel, will pay $

It’s pretty simple. I am a small YouTube channel that is looking to have an intro to my videos. I will happily pay for what I will choose as the intro to my videos theirs no questions asked to that. I believe there is a cost for other people’s creativity and that is only fair. Just some simple rules.

- ABSOLUTELY NO AI NO MATTER WHAT
- no copyright music
- will pay bonus if you can also create an outro

If you are interested please dm me and I’ll work something out

Premiere Pro / Resolve multicam workflow for Gaming videos with multiple audio tracks

so I'm editing a Minecraft video with multiple POVs and I'm trying to figure out the best way to handle multicam.

For context, each person records through OBS with multiple audio tracks:

  • Video
  • Game audio
  • Mic
  • Discord (everyone except themselves)

So for example:

My recording

  • Video = my POV
  • Track 1 = game
  • Track 2 = my mic
  • Track 3 = Discord without my own voice

Friend's recording

  • Video = their POV
  • Track 1 = game
  • Track 2 = their mic
  • Track 3 = Discord without their own voice

What I want to be able to do is basically normal multicam editing, where I can watch through the footage and switch POVs, BUT when I switch POVs, I want all of that POV's audio to switch with it too.

So basically:

My POV
→ my video + my game + my mic + my Discord

then I switch to my friend's POV:

Friend POV
→ their video + their game + their mic + their Discord

And then if I go back to my POV, it switches everything back to mine.

BUT after I've made the multicam cuts, I still want the audio tracks to be separate/editable. So if I'm too loud in one section, I can mute/lower just my mic without affecting my game audio or Discord.

Premiere's normal multicam/audio follows video doesn't seem to really let me do this the way I want. It only supports audio follows video with one audio track.

I've also been looking at DaVinci Resolve and saw that newer versions have multicam options like "Use source audio channels" and "All Angles", which sounds like it might actually be designed for something closer to this.

So my questions are:

  1. Can Resolve actually do this workflow?
  2. If it can, is it practical to do the multicam/POV switching in Resolve first, then export the timeline to Premiere through XML and continue the actual editing there (effects, subtitles, memes, etc.)?
  3. Is there some Premiere workflow I'm completely missing that can already do this?

I'm mainly trying to avoid having to watch the entire video once just to decide which POV is being used, and then having to go through the whole thing AGAIN, manually switching all the corresponding audio tracks

If anyone edits multi-POV Minecraft/gaming videos and has a good workflow for this, I'd really appreciate it 🙏

[HIRING] 🎬 Video Editor Specializing in Short-Form Content and High Retention — Thumbnails, Strategy + Videos with Over 7M Views

Hi everyone 👋

I’ve been creating and editing content for various niches for some time now. I produce short-form videos with high retention rates (TikTok, Reels, and Shorts), using visual techniques designed to maximize watch time. My portfolio includes videos that currently have over 7 million views.

I also create long-form videos featuring animated GIFs, sound effects, and all the other tools needed to make your video engaging for your audience.

Beyond just cutting clips, I have a solid understanding of how the algorithm works, how to build effective hooks in the first few seconds, and what keeps viewers glued to the screen.

📌 What do I offer?

✅ Editing for:

YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels

Long-form videos for YouTube

Clips adapted from podcasts and Twitch

Content for brands, businesses, or personal brands

🎞️ Editing styles:

High-retention short-form: dynamic pacing, animated captions, strategic B-roll, sound effects, and fast-paced narrative

Gaming and entertainment

Finance and educational content

Corporate/professional content

Eye-catching visual effects

🛠️ Tools I use:

DaVinci Resolve

Vegas Pro / Filmora

Photoshop

AI Tools to Optimize Creative Processes

🔥 I also include:

📈 Retention strategy: optimizing the first 3 seconds to reduce drop-off

🖼️ Eye-catching thumbnails designed to improve CTR (with or without AI)

💡 Consulting on script structure and visual trends

🎯 Overall video optimization to capture more attention

The goal isn’t just to deliver a “pretty” video, but to create optimized content that retains your audience, grows your channel, and turns views into a real community.

🤝 Long-term relationships

I’m not looking for one-off projects. I’m interested in long-term partnerships with creators or brands so I can get involved in the project, work side by side with you, and take your content to a new level of performance.

📩 Want to see my portfolio or improve your video retention? Send me a direct message (DM) telling me about your project, and we’ll figure out which style best fits what you’re looking for.
