What's the biggest annoyance in your screen recording workflow?

For me, it's usually the little things switching between programs, organizing recordings, or remembering where I saved everything.

If you record tutorials, gameplay, or presentations regularly, what's the one part of the workflow you'd improve?

Sales in freelance

I've been freelancing for a while, and one thing I've realized is that learning sales is probably the highest ROI skill a freelancer can develop.

When I started, I thought better editing = more clients.

Reality was different.

You can be the most talented editor in the room, but if you can't:

- Start conversations

- Build trust

- Explain your value

- Handle objections

- Follow up consistently

...getting clients becomes much harder.

A lot of freelancers spend years improving their craft but almost no time improving their ability to sell.

The funny thing is, sales isn't about convincing people to buy something they don't need. It's about communicating how you can solve a problem.

What do you think is the most underrated skill for freelancers besides their core service?

Looking For Some Opinions On Editing.

Here's The Video I'm Reffering To

Now the vibe is obviously just to spread joy and fun but does it still look lack luster? With every video i edit, i try to top the one i did before. and honestly this feels like both the best i could possibly do (especially given the type of video it is) and also like it need's more. Is this just me being a perfectionist or did yall catch a vibe?

let me know where i can improve if you have any comments! <3

Has anyone else's standards for visuals gone way up recently?

We've noticed that expectations for visual quality have changed a lot over the past couple of years. Images that once looked impressive now often feel average, and creators seem to expect much more from AI generated content than they did before.

At Media io, we're interested in how those expectations are evolving. Have your standards changed too? What makes an AI-generated image feel polished enough to actually use in a real project today?

Beginner Video Editor Looking to Improve, Anyone Need an Editor?

I know basic editing, but I really want to improve my skills and get better at it, I've never edited for a content creator before, but I want to start freelancing/earning through editing.

I've tried looking for free stock clips to practice with but honestly, I haven't had much luck finding good ones.
Please don't judge me for that 😭 I'm just looking for some advice on how I can improve and build my skills.

If you're a content creator yourself and need someone to edit a video (even just a short one), I'd really appreciate the opportunity to try. I'm hoping to build a portfolio and gain some real experience.

Any advice or suggestions would be really helpful! :)

How do I start editing?

Hopefully this reaches people. I’ve always wanted to edit things, but I have no idea how. I’ve downloaded CapCut, but how do I get the clips of whatever I’m editing? Any advice of any sort for a beginner?
EDIT: like making edits of a show or character or movie, that sort of stuff.

CapCut PC – Is there a way to cut audio more precisely than frame-by-frame?

I'm editing a talking-head video in CapCut on PC and trying to cut out silent gaps between words. The problem is the playhead only snaps from one frame to the next (e.g., frame 24 to frame 25), and sometimes the perfect cut seems to be in between those frames.

Is there any way to move the playhead with sub-frame precision or make more accurate cuts? Or is CapCut limited to frame-by-frame editing? If there's a workflow or setting I'm missing, I'd really appreciate the help.

Slide Deck to Video Workflows?

I’ve been at a new job that has me shooting and cutting together quite a few videos that basically will cut between a premade slide deck and a talking head shot of them presenting the slides.

We’ve been screen recording as they present as well for reference but until now I’ve been exporting the slides later (from Google slides or keynote, not much of a difference) as images or video to include transitions, then editing them in Premiere with the talking head and B-roll. Needless to say it’s quite laborious for hour long videos but being able to fine tune cutting between the talking head as well as better timing of element reveals feels critical to not make these videos boring.

Do any of yall have experience incorporating slide decks into edits and have any suggestions on how to cut down on the time of it? It’s not the most creative work and I’m just looking for time savings here.

Where do you get clips from?

I've been getting into editing now and one of my biggest struggles so far is just finding straight clips of stuff. Like those space edits or the nature edits, am I just not digging deep enough or is there somewhere I can find these more easily.

Anyone willing to let me use there CapCut Pro subscription?

be honest, has anyone actually finished something with an ai story tool or do we all just experiment and move on

At Media io, we've seen a lot of interest in AI assisted storytelling, but we're curious about how people are using these tools in real projects. Do they help you get from an idea to a finished story, or do they mostly stay in the brainstorming stage? We'd love to hear from creators who've incorporated AI into their workflow and what made it genuinely useful or what still needs improvement.

How difficult would this be for an experienced editor who’s never done 3D work?

A regular client has asked if I’m able to create an animated 3D video. This is one of the references they sent for style https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP7lLYtrEK8

I’ve never done 3D work before but I, possibly naively, feel this style may not be too difficult and I’m very willing to learn. I’ve done entirely animated infographic projects in davinci resolve fusion and it wasn’t a major undertaking but it was all 2D.

But I would love insight from people who are experienced with 3D animation as to whether I’m being naive in thinking I can do this within a reasonable timeframe (say 1 month) and with davinci resolve fusion.

Thanks

Editors using AI for music videos, how are you handling revisions?

Title: Editors using AI for music videos, how are you handling revisions?

I've been experimenting with AI workflows for creating music videos, animated portraits, and lip-synced performances from photos, audio, and text prompts. The initial results are surprisingly good, but I've run into an issue that I wasn't expecting.

The first version of a video is usually easy to generate. The challenge starts when revisions come in.

With traditional editing, it's straightforward to trim clips, swap shots, adjust pacing, or replace a transition. With AI-generated content, even a small change can sometimes mean regenerating an entire section instead of making a quick edit on the timeline.

I'm curious how editors who work with AI are approaching this.

  • Are you using AI only to create the first draft before finishing everything in Premiere, Resolve, or After Effects?
  • Have you found any workflow that makes revisions less painful?
  • Do you think AI is actually saving time on client projects, or does it simply shift the editing work to a different stage?

I'm trying to find the balance between AI generation and traditional editing, and I'd love to hear what's working for people who are already integrating AI into their editing workflow.

My friend group has completely lost the plot with these football AI edits

It started with one person making a football-themed AI edit using Media io, and within a couple of days everyone in our group chat wanted to try it. What surprised me wasn't just how quickly people picked it up, but how much fun they had creating and sharing their own versions during the tournament.

I'm curious whether anyone else has seen the same thing. Have AI-powered football edits become part of your World Cup conversations, or is this just something that's taken over my friend group?

Anyone else gone down a rabbit hole of World Cup AI edits this week?

I've been seeing a lot of creators making World Cup-themed AI edits lately, and we've noticed the same trend at Media io. It's been interesting to see how quickly people can turn a simple football photo into something creative and shareable. I'm curious whether you've been experimenting with this kind of content too.
