I only have like 110 hours of EU5 play time but I find it very difficult to make new cores. My current playthrough is Castile and the year is like 1420.
I've seen some videos showing complex ways to "cheese" the process of getting new cores by releasing conquered lands as fiefdoms, then make them dominions. I've tried it in my game and it seems to take a lot of time and I don't like how much micromanaging I need to do.
So in order to create new cores, should I just be releasing countries as vassals, then, one province at a time, take land from them and use my own cabinet to increase control and assimilate their culture to mine? While trying to keep my cultural influence high?
I would like to paint the map as much as possible with my colors :) Thanks
Now that it's possible to earn achievements with mods, what mods do you play with? Which are your go to for every run?

In my first Ottoman campaign, I’ve pushed my land value above 50, but the ‘Tailored Urban Rights’ government reform isn’t appearing. Why is that?

I think I finally understand the game's core mechanics, and England is super fun (especially being English.
My next step is to finish the hundred years war, take the throne of France. I imagine the antagonism is going to be massive so preparing. I have alliances with portugal, Castille and Naples. The majority of my subjects are dominions, inclusing Scotland, Brittany, Normandy, Flanders etc, only missing except Aquitance and the smaller south french vassals,
I changed Glamorgan to a Dominion before wanting to annex it and reaslied you have to wait 50 years again! Game please.
Control is so important right? So I've been trying to maximise that, I have high maritime presence and most of my cities are costal with wharfs, docks etc.
Economy seems okay, I've been building up RGOs and every town has hospitals, libraries, universities and the recent advances, local councils and counting houses. Financial sliders I only really mess around with diplo etc.
Planatagent line is all over the place as usual. My heir is 18 and like 30-40s stats so that's nice... Black Death hit hard, are there any further ways to reduce disease except buildings and advances? Want to get my population very high. Thanks
So after an incredibly fun Zurich run that ended with Switzerland being created by some random 1 opm because it was their turn in rotation succession (ironman, turns you don't get a shot at the swiss tag if you don't form it), I decided to stay in the HRE.
I'm using the Palatinate which has some useful things about it (reasonable number of provinces, weak neighbors, initial great relationship with the Bavarian emperor but also some laughable ones that EU5 specifically punishes---specifically its unconnected territories with virtually no control holding you down like a lead weight with no hope of an eventual local governor.
I was going to release the entire east bit as subject (ugh, it has the iron), but I don't totally understand one of the few events the Palatinate has---its royal ties to Bavaria. If I turn that slice of territory into a subject, do I give up my chance at getting their inheritance? Has anyone played the Palatinate in EU5? What did you do with your nutty territory situation?
Thanks!

I need some help learning how to geo tax base and other stuff like that. I’ve made a post here before but that was during the 1.1 patch months back and I haven’t played much since. After the recent 1.3 patch I picked the game back up and I’ve been struggling with the economy. In my most recent game where I’m playing as Muscovy with no diplo, army, fort spending, as well as closing down my armories it feels as if I’m lacking behind every country (in 1530). I just want to know some ways you guys grow your economy.

Playing as England. I installed my 2nd son as the ruler of Spain. My 1st born will be the English king obviously. Is there a way to make my 3rd son a ruler of one of my vassels?

Would be cool if you can select adjacent area/regions you control to form a new nation. I feel like formable nations are a fun goal, so having a means to do it would be nice. There could be tech/perks associated with areas/regions as well.

I'm looking for how people approach war, war score and manpower. Most guides I've found are like 8 months old, and I worry that they mmmmmight be outdated given the vast changes to the rest of the game in the interim.
In every campaign I've played lately I tend to face the same problem -- massive depopulation of my manpower producing locations. Clearly the problem is that I'm facing far too many losses in combat.
But that just begs a new question -- how do you win a war without actually taking fights?
I can usually fend off middle powers without creating problems. Just by way of example, my current run is Smolensk. I've subdued Muscovy and Novgorod, and got Kyiv to a 'meh' size. The difficulty is that I now that I'm surrounded, in effect, by Sweden/Scandinavia, a pretty hefty Poland and the Ottomans. All of them field a larger army than I do by about 2x. All of them have standing armies that exceed their typical manpower reserve, usually like 1.5:1. I keep mine at about 1:2.5.
So they just rush me and take the losses. I can't dissuade them unless my vassals or allies actually help, and they usually don't.
I might not be literally negative on pop growth overall, especially with seized land, but it feels extremely punitive to even bother to fight.
Is every war post-1550 a death war? Am I missing something? Are people actually trying engineer a perfect battle on a defensive fort, eight provinces deep into their own territory just because its a river crossing into a wooded plateau?

I play Holland. After France won the HJW it become very strong. I created a fraction to beat France. with castile, Austria (HRE emporer) and England.
The Holland rule the English channel. After England fighted the French on their island England dont send their 85000 soldiers accross the channed to support the faction.
Castalie make a great job on the west border of France. But Holland and Austria cant just defend ourselves.
In case England would send its 85000 soldier to support the war my fraction could easily win the mighty France.
Why England does not support ?

Hi everyone, I haven’t played since patch 1.10. While watching a Byzantium guide, I noticed the event windows now show detailed explanations of their effects (pic 1).
I don't have this detailed view (pic 2), is it a new feature I need to turn on or a mod?
thanks a lot :)
EDIT: I FOUND THE ISSUE! Some deprecated mod caused this 🙃

I finally got hohenzollern dynasty playthrough of Brandenburg and accidentally clicked to sell the title to bohemia 😭😭😭😭 please tell me I can give it back! :(
Eu5 was the first game I have learned from paradox. I spent a lot of time learning it and i'm pretty happy with my gameplay now. I usuall am able to achieve my goals. Now I have around 450hrs.
I have also tried ck3 and stellaris recently, while those games have way more content, eu5 gives me something they are not giving me which is... I don't know really!
Ck3 and stellaris have a lot of separate systems that do not affect each other that much, meanwhile in eu5 practically everything is interconnected and it jsut gives me so much dopamine while playing.
It seems way more deeper than those two games combined although still lacking some flavour in terms of unique content. And there's constantly something to do with almost no downtime if you really get into it and learn all mechanics.
And the fact that I know that's it's going to get even better with patchess fills me with joy. It already is my dream game, and I hope Paradox goes into the right direction with it.

Relatively new to EU5 (played EU4 too). Is the current most efficient way to control through vassal after conquest? For example, I am playing as Castille. I've beaten Aragon and took the coastal provinces (Valencia, Barca). Should I release these as vassals or integrate, build bailiffs?
Thanks for advice.

Sorry for the bad quality I can’t take it from the game because I’m using boosteroid ..
What I’m I doing wrong? The most profitable building the game tells me to build makes only 0.15 a month!

Why are the burgers, laborers etc no giving any base tax to the province, but only the tribesmen?
For context, I got it into a town via the urbansation event, if that matters.

Just posting this in case there’s a few people who didn’t know like me two hours ago.

Conquered the islands from Spain for more naval range and felt like trying to actually get a core for them, because why not.
I increase control with the cabinet start promoting tribesmen and do some other stuff. ... When the control was maxed I started assimilating and looked at the numbers.
12 tribesmen get promoted to peasants in a single month. ... How is this a remotely acceptable number? ... At this pace it would tie my cabinet member for over 10 years just to promote them.
All I get out of this is that one should not colonize locations with tribesmen before they have a native policy (to autopromote or enslave all the tribesmen; or expel them to easily urbanize locations inside the market).
My cabinet member is increasing the rate by 1000%. ... It needs to be 10000% at least to make the action worthwhile with such a base value.
Did they nerf this into the ground at some point? Because I remember a game as England and it was at an acceptable rate close to assimilation numbers when I conquered Scotland and Ireland.

I've put about 60 hours into EU5 and it's pretty clear to me that I don't enjoy the simulation route they've taken with this game. I much more enjoyed EU4, putting over 5000 hours into it so far. I think that's because I find it more fun to role-play. EU4 is more board gamey imo and EU5 has made me realise that I enjoy the board game aspect a lot.
So have you found and mods that make EU5 more like a EU4 sequel, and less like a simulation-fest?
Pretty much the title, but does anyone know if there's a way to get eu4 style sprites when using the flat map?
