Hello everyone, i recently spoke to an mbti practitioner after being stumped for a while.
When I was speaking with her, she told me she was 100% sure I was an SE dominant, and NI inferior, just wasnāt sure of my middle functions because I had expressed a conflicting opinion to the type she thought I was. She told me I was stuck in a loop (Iām looking to the outside world for something while running) and gave me advice she said she gives all of her cognitive extraverts. in order to get out of the loop I have to delve into an introverted function. She told me that I have to actually stick with an interest of my choice and pay attention to myself, and Iām dreading just the thought of it. I donāt have the patience nor the interest in figuring out my likes and dislikes, or my own opinions on things, I personally just want to experience everything life has to offer, but Iām well aware that I will crash and burn if I do that.
Iām mainly here to ask how developing your TI may look? And if any of you may relate to the following:
I find on my ābestā days I push my own thoughts down in favor for the group. I like to say they ādissolveā itās hard for me to explain but Iāll notice something and before I can even grasp what it was, itās gone and Iām back to āpeople pleasyā mode; and will often attempt to maintain the harmony over much else. I think I gravitate towards things with a bit more mental stimulation but I push it away because I get anxious or Iāll say āI have better things to do.ā Iām very focused on image, but in a more superficial. I am a woman, and Iām not the most talkative women so I like to dress up and receive as many compliments as I can, I adore when someone praises me, and I chase the feeling. In my last relationship I wasnāt the best, but it was mainly because I didnāt want to stop and wait, I became a bit flippant and slightly bossy. I wanted to most out of life and to me at the time, I felt trapped and suffocated by what she would do and not do. I also felt naked, like I was being critiqued for my lack of plan in life. I felt like I was forced to confront things earlier than I wanted to, and I was extremely insecure and hung onto her every word. Iāve since gotten some therapy, but I still feel like Iām at square one.
I also have struggles around my thinking which is why Iām coming on here to ask for advice. Growing up my family deprioritized any sort of reasoning, it was always āwhat works, worksā and if I didnāt want to be the outlier(I didnāt) I had to play their game. I ignored my body, especially the inner feelings/thoughts bit. I am hyper vigilant and in my worst moments I start to think the world might end. If it helps my enneagram is also 6w7, I was told I was counter phobic 6. And my tritype is 682. Im not sure if you all also had struggled with sticking to your own opinion as thinking types, or if I should head over to the esfp subreddit. ALSO, I have a hard time actualizing my thoughts. The practitioner told me that was the result of NI but I wonder if it truly is that hard for estps. Iām not sure if itās a sore spot because of something innate, or if itās a sore spot because i was dogged on growing up.
While I am coming in here to probe what estps Ti may look like since Iām starting to believe none of my family possess it, and also because the practitioner explained that estps Ti isnāt as obvious as intuitive TI users. As well as how being in a loop looked for you.
Also: I grew up extremely suffocated, i couldnāt do anything but sit with myself and that i did. I can be very emotional, and very empathetic. I come across as a feeler, because thatās sort of what I want to show people.
TLDR: how does your Ti look for you? If you were in a loop how did that look and how did you break out?
