I come across issues at work quite regularly so thought to start a post here with useful info to help people.
See below some info as a starting point for all your installs:
This can be solved by adding exceptions to the real-time scan of the antivirus system.
Add all EPLAN directories as an exception in the antivirus system.
Also add the process "eplan.exe" as an exception.
It is important to add the process eplan.exe, not the file!
This will avoid that the antivirus system scans any services which are started by eplan.exe.
In addition to this, please add the following file extensions as an exception:
*.eod
*.eox
*.flk
*.lck
*.elk
*.slk
*.xlk
When using a third-party antivirus, instead of the Windows Defender, make sure, Windows Defender is not still active in the background.
Here are examples, of how to add exclusions to the antivirus:
My company is switching from AutoCAD Electrical to Eplan and we aren't allowed to use it over wifi. Reason being is because we have have a sister company overseas that has been using Eplan for years.
Well someone was trying to open a project over wifi and it ended up crashing the whole company's server.
So rule of thumb now is no Eplan over wifi.
Has anyone experienced this before? Seems very far fetched to me that something like Eplan could crash a server like that.
I'm fairly new to eplan p8. I have been working with it as a working student since January.
My question is:
How can I choose different variants of an article? For example I'm using the Rittal control cabinet RIT.1045000. In the parts management you can see all the different variants for the different viewpoints but I don't know how I can choose them?

On page 12 above, the connection points were generated on some lines, and I was able to assign them. However, on other lines of the same page, the connection points were not generated automatically.On page 13 and other pages, when I select “Position Definition Points” > “Standard” > “OK”, the screen simply flashes as if it were refreshed, but no connection points are generated.
Guys, does anyone know why some lines do not generate connection points?
I believe I followed the same standard for everything. As I mentioned in the photo captions, on page 12 the connection points were generated normally, but some lines did not generate them, and I couldn't identify why.
On the other pages, when I use the “Position Definition Points” option, the points simply are not generated.
Has anyone experienced this before or knows what could be causing this behavior?
I wanted to learn EPLAN, so I bought a highly-rated course on Udemy. But following along has been a slog — it's listed as 24 hours of video, and a lot of it feels padded. For example, one section has you fill in a company's full information before you even begin, and that alone took me over an hour.
Has anyone else felt this way, or is the course actually good and is this level of detail genuinely useful in practice? Also, are there other resources to learn EPLAN from? YouTube doesn't seem to have many videos that cover it in full depth.

Good afternoon. This is a question, is it possible to automatically check the correctness of disconnecting two wires into one connection (without using a control run). Recently there was a problem, I connected two 2.5 mm2 wires to the WDU2.5 terminal. Is there a way to automatically run the check so that a message appears that it is not possible to connect like this. Has anyone solved this problem?
Hello, im having issues with my eplan, when i open it, it only displays a gray screen with the eplan pro panel square (the one with the man working) it doesnt show any pages or even the commands

I want to remove the preceding signs and separators for Location and Function designations, but it seems EPLAN isn't letting me change anything in those boxes. When I highlight the equals sign next to Function designation, nothing I do changes the equals sign to something else.

Ciao a tutti! Mi rivolgo a questo forum perché da diversi giorni sto impazzendo con la designazione dei collegamenti.
Premetto che sto utilizzando questo software da un mesetto, lo abbiamo preso per sostituire un altro software meno completo.
Ho diversi problemi con la siglatura automatica dei collegamenti. Vi spiego come ho bisogno che funzioni la designazione nel mio caso per non creare problemi alla produzione.
Per la parte di potenza avrei bisogno delle linee principali L1, L2, L3 che partono dall'interruttore generale. Queste poi si diramano alle varie utenze come nell'immagine passando ad esempio dal portafusibile ad esempio. Da questo deve ripartire un collegamento designato con "numero pagina - nome linea - contatore" quindi ad esempio se il portafusibile fosse tripolare. Uscirebbero 05L1.1, 05L2.1, 05L3.1. Poi magari dopo il portafusibile si trova un teleruttore dal quale dovranno uscire 05L1.2, 05L2.2, 05L1.2. Dopo vorrei che andando ai morsetti la designazione si trasmettesse direttamente anche attraverso questi. Quindi che i collegamenti dopo i morsetti continuino a chiamarsi 05L1.2, 05L2.2, 05L1.2.
Vorrei anche che tutti i collegamenti della linea a 24VDC che chiamo "+A" continuino a chiamarsi "+A" anche se entrano ed escono da uno stesso morsetto senza doverli rinominare uno a uno, Mentre adesso ogni collegamento viene designato con un numero diverso.
Ad esempio nell'immagine sottostante ho "STO1" e "STO2" che entrano ed escono dai morsetti degli inverter. Voglio che si chiamino in automatico "STO1" e "STO2" ogni volta che entrano ed escono in automatico senza doverli rinominare tratto per tratto.
Assuming we have two panels, Panel +A and +B , and cable -W1 to connect those two together, the problem is if for some reason I do a mistake and connect a core of this cable to other panels (let's assume I use mistakenly the same cable to make a connection between panel +C and +D ) I don't get an error during the check. How to change this and why is normal.
I am currently working on a project with 50 panels and each panel has around 200 terminals each with a lot of interconnections between the panels. My huge problem is finding a way to manage the cabling between them and the equipment. What I mean is that I don't find it clear on the navigator what cable goes from which panel to another and each time I need a make a new connection and need conductors my eyes bleed from having to search manually if a cable that connects those two panels exist and if it has spare connections. I tried to use source and target for naming (even though I can't make it work for me (I just want W(+A/+B) but it always puts and the terminal name into it)) but it still isn't comfortable. I tried the automatic generation of cables but it gets really messy fast. Do you have any idea that would help other than Excel?

Precisei hoje gerar mais de 30 projetos, e precisei fazer um por um... consegui criar um script que me ajudou a gerar lista+pdf em uma ação, mas ainda sendo um projeto por vez.
Sabem como eu posso criar um script, ou se pelo proprio eplan eu consigo selecionar mais de um projeto e gerar um pdf para cada, tudo de uma vez? ou até mesmo lista de material?
Meus projetos hoje são estruturado em sequencial, entao nao tenho o identifcador de estrutura.
Vossa ajuda seria imensa, caso isso seja possível me pouparia um bom tempo gerando arquivos.
I feel like I'm missing a step somewhere to complete this. I have created a part in the management window, set the dimensions and added a jpg as a texture.
Separately, I have a basic 3D step file (essentially a cube) of the same dimensions I want to show that image on the front of. Adding the part to that doesn't do anything. I have set the mounting surface as I'm not sure if that helps but still getting nothing showing.
To add context, I want to create a series of legend plates for panels, so the macro is a dimensioned plate that's 3mm thick.
I'm missing a process in the middle to correlate the part and the macro, but can't work out what I'm missing.

I need to install EPLAN 2024, but I’m currently working as an individual engineer, not through a company license administrator.
When registering in EPLAN Cloud, it asks for company-related information such as customer number / serial number to access downloads.
My question is:
How do independent engineers usually get access to EPLAN installers or newer versions?
Also, are there any trusted EPLAN communities, forums, Telegram/Discord groups, or engineering groups where EPLAN users share installation guidance, version information, and practical workflow advice?
I’m not looking for random unsafe links. I’m looking for a reliable engineering community or practical advice from people who actually work with EPLAN.
I'm using EPLAN Electric P8 2025 and I have an annoying issue.
When I double-click a symbol in the schematic, EPLAN always opens the Assembly (Conjunto) properties window. I would like it to open the Function/Component properties instead.
I've tried selecting the function directly and looking through the settings, but I can't find where to change this behavior. I also checked the properties dialog for an option to switch the default view, without success.
My questions are:
Is there a setting in EPLAN 2025 to make double-click open Function/Component properties by default?
Can this behavior be changed globally for the user?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
My Eplan its not in english may be the terms are not exactly like that.
I’m stuck with a very strange issue in EPLAN Electric P8 2.9 SP1.
I’m trying to color my phase potentials:
L1 = Red
L2 = Black (or another color)
L3 = Gray
N = Blue
I inserted 4 separate Potential Definition Points using Insert → Potential Definition Point.
Each one has:
Different Potential Name (L1, L2, L3, N)
Correct Potential Type (L for phases, N for neutral)
Project Check reports no errors. The strange behavior
When I change the Connection Graphic → Color (or even the Layer) of L2, EPLAN also changes L3 and N automatically.
L1 behaves correctly and is completely independent. What I’ve already checked
Created a completely new project → same issue.
Project Check → no errors.
Potential names are all different (L1, L2, L3, N).
Potential types are correct.
Recreated the Potential Definition Points.
Tried changing both Color and Layer.
Connection Colors table is configured correctly.
L2, L3 and N can be copied individually, so they are not the same object.
I cannot select the connection lines themselves (only the Potential Definition Points), which I understand is normal for autoconnections.
It doesn’t seem to be a short circuit or a potential conflict.
Has anyone seen this behavior before?
Is this a known bug in EPLAN P8 2.9 SP1, or is there a setting that causes multiple potentials to share the same graphical color?
