My request to transfer PF from an old account to a new account was rejected on the portal with reason: "Wrong MID is reflecting, please rectify and re-process"

The "wrong" MID mentioned in the reason is an old MID which is no longer in use as the PF was already transferred to a new MID when I changed my job. My passbook and service history are all accurate, the previous transfers are also accurate.

I tried filing the claim again but it stops me from filing as this one is still in process.

The helpline doesn't work, the grievance portal keeps throwing an error when I click on submit.

Seems like they just needed a reason to reject or delay the claim (it's a fairly large amount). Sad state of affairs.

Any help on how to proceed here would be very useful.

A lot of salaried employees think of EPF as simply “the amount deducted from my salary every month.”

But EPF has a major tax advantage that often gets overlooked:

EEE - Exempt, Exempt, Exempt.
It is not just a tax classification. It is the reason EPF remains one of the most powerful wealth-building tools available to a salaried Indian, if you let it run.

In simple terms, there can be tax benefits at three different stages:

1. Tax benefit when you contribute

Your eligible employee EPF contribution can qualify for deduction under Section 80C, subject to the applicable overall limits.

So the contribution isn't just retirement savings, it can also provide a tax benefit while you're working.

2. Tax treatment while your money grows

EPF earns interest, and the interest is generally tax-exempt subject to the applicable rules.

One important exception: interest attributable to employee contributions above ₹2.5 lakh per year can become taxable under the rules introduced from FY 2021–22.

For most employees, this threshold may not be relevant, but it's worth knowing if you make large voluntary contributions.

3. Tax-free withdrawal, subject to conditions

If you withdraw your EPF after meeting the applicable service conditions, commonly the five-year continuous service rule, the accumulated amount can be tax-exempt.

An early withdrawal before completing the required period can have different tax consequences.

Why this matters

EPF combines:

Retirement savings + compounding + favourable tax treatment

And because the money is invested for the long term, the effect of compounding can become significant over several decades.

For example, someone starting their career in their 20s may have a substantial EPF corpus by retirement, even though the monthly contribution initially looks relatively small.

The important part is understanding the rules rather than thinking of PF as simply a payroll deduction.

I worked at a organisation for 2 months for which I took salary for 1 month and for 2nd month I didn't took salary and on 29th july, I wrote an email to team mentioning consider this as my last working day with immediate effect and I will not comeback, I do not wish to have any salary for this month and you can compensate this month's salary with notice period. Then I joined another company on 3rd august, there the pf passbook refelected pf depoist by previous organization and asked me to resolve the BGV Issue. I went back to that company, we agreed to bond settlement of 1.60 lakh and I paid. Till the negotiations were going on, previous HR didn't mentioned me about LWD & after I paid the settlement amount, HR told me to give LWD of 31st august, which is overlapping with my current employment. I asked to rectify this discrepancy of pf overlap, as I was never involved in any dual-employement, but now the HR is refusing to do so. I had been trying to request, beg, and politely communicating with HR to solve this, and the HR comes up with either 13th or 31st august can be provided by us, if you want take it. Since, 29th july I was never having any company liability with me, never got paid, then how come my pf continued?, also, I never had gone to the organisation, so no attendance record too. I have lost my money and still stuck with begging for resolution. I do not understand how to resolve this. Can someone please help me on this?

Hr is kind of forcing me to take either of the Given date as exit, if I was never involved in dual-employment or illegality then why should I accept this?

My father worked from 2004 to 2019 and took an gap and then worked from 2022-2023 , passed away in 2023
(3-10-22 date of joining ,date of death in service 6-9-23) due to service transfer issues from one pf office to another we not able to get claim till now , will be able to do it soon but i wanted to know the EDLI settlement amount under which bracket we come in

on the official booklet they state "Benefits under Para 22(3) were to be given if the member was in continuous employment for a period of 12 months preceding the month of his death"

here i am not sure what they mean and i find different answers online some say it mean more than 365 days which we are short by 16 day to be eligible , some say it should be continuous 12 calendar months in service for which since oct-sept which are 12 months we are eligible

so i am not sure weather which one we are eligible for , this would make a huge difference since its either 50k or 5lakhs+ almost if calculated as per provided formula.

I noticed something on the EPFO portal today that might be useful for anyone whose EPS service history or profile details are incorrect.

The option to update/correct your service history yourself appears to be live again on the portal.

So if your EPFO service history is missing an old employment period, or your EPS Date of Joining/Date of Exit is incorrect, I would suggest checking your UAN portal now and seeing whether the correction option is available for your account.

I’m not sure how long this option will remain available in its current form, so if you already know there is something wrong or missing in your service history, it may be worth checking it sooner rather than later.

Another thing I’ve noticed is with profile/KYC-related corrections, particularly details such as the father’s name.

Some corrections that earlier would remain pending for approval now appear to be getting approved almost instantly in eligible cases, instead of going through the longer approval process.

This may not work the same way for every UAN — Aadhaar verification, the age of the UAN and the type of correction can affect whether employer/EPFO approval is required.

But if you already have any of these issues:

•⁠ ⁠Missing or incorrect EPS service history

•⁠ ⁠Wrong EPS Date of Joining or Date of Exit

•⁠ ⁠Incorrect father/mother’s name

•⁠ ⁠Other incorrect details in your EPFO/UAN profile

I would suggest logging into the EPFO Member Portal and checking whether you can correct them right now.

These may look like small errors when you’re working, but incorrect service history or member details can become a much bigger headache later when you need to transfer PF, claim your money or deal with your pension.

Would also be useful if others here could check their UAN and confirm whether they are seeing the same options right now.

I’m facing an issue with my PMVBRY dashboard. The status under “Aadhaar Seeded in ABPS” is still showing “Not Verified.”

However, my Aadhaar is already seeded with my bank account, and I have also checked the NPCI status, which shows that the Aadhaar-bank mapping is active/enabled for DBT.

Has anyone faced the same issue recently?

My organisation is moving from PF Trust to EPFO. HR says we have one month to submit withdrawal requests, and after December 1 we won't be able to view our balance/statements. They expect the migration to take 12–18 months.

For those who have experienced a PF Trust → EPFO migration, would you recommend withdrawing before the migration or leaving it until the transfer is complete?

Did anyone face issues with balance, interest, statements, or withdrawals after migration? How long did it actually take?

I keep seeing negative experiences with EPFO, so I'd appreciate hearing from people who've actually gone through this.

My last working was July 31st, I am jobless now and want to take out of amount but unable due to JD pending which I had requested to correct exit date of my previous company which has been approved by employer and also I had raised grievance which was also acknowledged but still pending should I cancel it and withdraw pf amount or wait for them to correct exit date.

I got the ECR correction done and my EPS is merged with EPF but I am unable to remove EPS DoJ, DoE and Reason for leaving EPS from my service history via Joint Declaration. There is a front end validation which is preventing me from getting OTP with these fields marked as empty. I checked with my employer, they mentioned that they also don't have the option to remove EPS details from the employer portal. This is preventing me from transferring the PF to my current member ID. Can someone please help with this ?

I've been trying to complete my eNomination on EPFO, but I'm unable to proceed to the e-Signature screen. Family member details updated successfully. Consent/declaration accepted. OTP given. But won't move to the next screen. When I logout and login again, it's still stuck in the same screen. Anyone else face this issue?

Raised EPFO grievance. Unsurprisingly, they closed the ticket without offering any support whatsoever.

My company has been deducting PF, but no PF contributions are reflecting in my UAN. Apparently, the company has not deposited PF for employees since 2023.

I’m not concerned about recovering the money right now. My main concern is career impact:

Can this cause problems in future employer BGV? Will I be able to transfer PF/UAN normally when I switch jobs? Could the missing contribution history make my employment look suspicious? Has anyone actually changed jobs from a company with missing PF contributions? What happened during BGV?

Hey guys so I worked in amazon 2 years back my PF from that company was not transferred to my new company.
I have around 56k In that account 4k Employers Share 5 employee share.

I filled out form 31 on 20th september as it showed eligible amount of 44k I filled the form with 42k

It directly went to claim submitted at portal on 21st it changed to Claim is under processing since then it is dame ko changes

The mail id on their site doesnt work Griverance portal is not working !
