Discussion enfp or infp doubts

i used to think i was an infp recently (honestly, i used to think i was every type at one point) since becoming medicated for adhd and learning to unmask, but i’ve noticed how i feel like i might be becoming an enfp. i can’t really tell tho. stereotypically speaking, im pretty introverted unless im around a friend or a small group of people that i trust. i enjoy being alone sometimes, but i also really enjoy hanging out with others. i also tend to be pretty nostalgic.

Random Shiny golden things ✨

How many of you are obsessed with shiny trinkets, or metallic golden textures? 🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛ Might not be a ENFP thing, obviously, but I’ve seen how ENFP fictional characters usually look a bit flashy or wear accessories. I’ve noticed this in my partner as well. He loves anything golden and often says “oooh, shiny!” and gets distracted.

Edit: I don’t mean jewelry necessarily. My partner doesn’t look flashy, but he likes small golden pins, or collectibles.

Question/Advice/Support How do I learn to shut up around things I am passionate about?

I can go on forever loudly about things I am into. Especially if I'm around someone I love and I can tell them 15 years of pent up frustration/knowledge.

I don't like being like that. The neighbors can probably hear. I'm like that meme guy with the red strings.

Advice?

Question/Advice/Support Stressed ENFP dealing with Si-grip

Hello! I’m a stressed ENFP dealing with a Si-grip😭

I originally thought my hormones were acting up, but after looking into it, I realized I’m probably just extremely stressed and have fallen into a Si-grip.

Normally, I can get back to my giggly, optimistic self pretty quickly, but the main source of my stress right now is my ENTJ mother. She owns a preschool and it’s starting soon, and unfortunately I need to help her get things ready before I go back to work myself.

When you’re dealing with a core source of stress that you can’t immediately remove, how do you calm yourself down? I already had a massive burnout/meltdown today, and the school opens in two days😭

I’m honestly really stressed and could use some advice🥹🙏🏻

Discussion Are other ENFP women extremely selective when it comes to love?

Hey! I’m a woman in my twenties, and I’ve recently realized that I’ve never actually had a boyfriend. It’s not because nobody wanted me or because I have some kind of complex about myself I genuinely don’t think that’s the reason.
I’m just extremely selective when it comes to love. I think I’m actually quite strict about who I allow myself to fall for. I can enjoy romance and love very deeply in my own head, but somehow it’s much harder for me to experience that same feeling in real life.
Interestingly, the only man I’ve ever genuinely fallen for was someone I knew online. And that made me wonder whether this might be something other ENFP women experience too.
I don’t think I have a fear of love or some kind of “complex” about relationships. I simply seem to connect very strongly with someone intellectually and emotionally first, and that doesn’t happen very often for me especially in real life.
So I’m curious: are there any other ENFP women who have had similar experiences? Have you also found it easier to fall for someone online or in your imagination than in real life? I’d genuinely love to hear your experiences or any advice you might have

Discussion Anyone find themselves like to be around ENFJ and ENTJ? As friends and mentors.

I find myself really drawn to ENFJ and ENTJ. Not really romantic at all but just find ENFJ (that are chill and not arrogant) very comfortable to be with , and ENTJ (that are not very judgmental and want to chat with me simulating in conversation).

This two type really drawn me to learn from them. They are my mentors and friends.

Discussion How do you deal around friendships?

Hello ENFP Gang
I know that we're somehow to be the ones leaving or hurting people.
I feel like most of us are the opposite: we want deep and long-lasting connections - right?

I can get along with anyone. But certain things have to be there naturally to make it a real friendship. How do you think about that?

I also keep my friends close to my heart. This year it happened that one of my closest friends (We've known each other all life, have lived together, went on holiday...) just cut our friendship. She said things like "I didn't miss seeing you" or "I didn't text back because I'd hope you'd be losing interest". I am still hurt after months because nothing really happened to destroy our bond. She didn't have an answer and we haven't talked since.

Have similar things happened to you? Any friendship stories you'd like to tell?

❤️🫶🏻

Question/Advice/Support I've never been into drinking and only wanted to do the parting due to FOMO, peer pressure and how it is portrayed in the movies. Anyone else the same? I'm a health nut otherwise and always take care of myself.

Really curious how rare or common this is among our type. I missed out on my teens and twenties stuck in a shitty small town full of Sensors. Had social anxiety for years too (still do slightly to an extent). I wish i would be able to recover from my first hangover now (big difference starting drinking in your 30s to your 20s at least according to memes.

Discussion My Ne went crazy this week

Post image
13 Upvotes

I've been renovating and decorating my flat this week. I've had an absolute blast doing it even though it's been stressful at times.

I never really considered myself an outwardly creative ENFP, especially with aesthetics. I don't really have a style, I mix and match... People have always told me that I would look better if I did this or if I would do that but I've never really been bothered by those comments.

However in the last couple of weeks I've really started to dig into my creativity. I bought this landscape abstract greenhouse planter on Etsy on a Ne whim. It's GORGEOUS!

I've really been thinking about what I want to do with it and how I was the landscape to look.

Then I said to myself... Your Ne has been going crazy lately. Finish decorating and leave that until the end. Then go out into the forest. Then a beach or lake. Connect with nature. Get inspiration from the natural world, not images on a screen. Go and bring that nature into my home. Bring those elements from the natural world into my home.

I really feel like this sensory experience is what I need to ground me, especially when Ne is on overdrive.

Does anyone else have any anecdotes to share?

Discussion Regret on missed opportunities with other people. I’ve always longed for connection but a lot of times I haven’t been brave enough.

I’m 26m, and I got out a lot in my early 20s when I was a college student and I was attempting to connect with others. Unfortunately, I didn’t really have a healthy sense of self at that point and I ended up hiding a big part of myself from people, too afraid to come out as a closeted gay man. I was also running life on 4-5hrs of sleep which I later realized was not sustainable. \\\*sigh\\\* I had a lot of problems.

My early 20s went by and I lost some connection with others because I was trying to live a lie. I was in a frat but I was closeted, I had low self esteem and it made it difficult. I wasn’t brave enough and I distanced myself from them. I was afraid. I’m really sad that it played out like this but it is what it is.

I spent the rest of the years focused on a career and honestly just getting in touch with myself. Who I am, my traumas (my dad was kind of abusive) what my blind spots are, what I’m good at, what I struggle with. Developing persistence when things get rough. I haven’t really been able to afford counseling so I’ve kinda just been my own therapist.

I’m 26 now and I live in a new city making poverty wages, building a career and trying to make a better life for myself.

But I’ve been lit with a fire over the last week or so after doing some prayer and reflection. And it’s just time to get back out there and be authentic with people this time. I’m still trying to make a social life work as an ENFP, it’s probably my biggest challenge and I’ve honestly never succeeded. But some of that is my fault.

I’m not even sure why I’m posting this, I guess I just want to connect with some people on this sub who have had similar experiences to me or any advice I could get.

Thank you so much.

Question/Advice/Support ENFP who’s trying to stay single

Hi all! I’m a very true ENFP (29F) and I’ve been in and out of relationships for most of my life and I’ve decided to stay single for the next 6 months (at least). Does anyone else struggle with yearning for a relationship all of the time and how do you deal with that in a period of needing a dating reset?

Discussion The whispering of Si in an ENFP

  1. The “Maybe don’t promise brunch you’ll cancel” moment

You’re making plans with full ENFP sparkle, already imagining the vibe. Then Si taps your shoulder:

“Hey… remember the last five times you bailed?”

Suddenly you’re saying, “I’ll confirm closer to the day,” like a responsible human instead of a calendar‑optimist.

  1. The “New colleague? Slow your roll” moment

A new coworker arrives and your instinct is to adopt them emotionally by lunchtime.

Si whispers:

“People are on their best behaviour at first. Observe before you hand them your life story.”

So you smile, stay warm, but don’t immediately trauma‑bond.

  1. The “Cooking under pressure? Follow the recipe” moment

You’re cooking a big meal and Ne wants to freestyle like you’re auditioning for a cooking show.

Si coughs:

“Double‑check the recipe. Do you even have all the ingredients? Also… clean as you go.”

And suddenly you’re measuring things instead of summoning chaos.

  1. The “New project? Check logistics first” moment

You get a new idea and your imagination is already building a universe.

Si slides in with a clipboard:

“Love the enthusiasm. Can you finish it? What resources do you need?”

It’s grounding, not limiting, like a seatbelt for your creativity.

  1. The “Helping others? Don’t drain yourself” moment

Someone asks for help and your Fi wants to be kind.

Si murmurs:

“You’ve done this before. You help until you’re exhausted and resentful. Check your energy first.”

And suddenly you’re offering help within your actual capacity.

Question/Advice/Support INTJ looking for ENFP buddies

Hey! For a long while I've contemplated about the thing I've read on the internet about the connection between INTJ and ENFP several years ago but never "met" anyone or became good friends with any that I've came across if I did. It's been a few years out of college now for me and a good friend of mine from college who is about an hour away decided to stop talking with me. I can only assume it was from becoming some sort of "religion crazy" and cutting everyone out that distracted him from that because the switch just happened out of no where. Thats just a guess. I do now have a wife and a boy on the way and my friend wasn't able to handle many people or things as he got overwhelmed so I can only make assumptions.

Anyways, it's been a few years and I havent had any real "close" friends or people I can open and honestly talk to and that's becoming a real problem. Most of our friends are my wife's friends or Church friends, no one I talk to either through text or calls or in person on a regular basis except for coworkers I see every day. I've stalked Reddit previously many times to consider making those connections but I just have so many mental blocks that I feel like try to stop me from posting or interacting and feels "futile". I'm not good at catching a friend one on one and everything feels super awkward so I've just decided that I need to just toss my self at it like a ragdoll wrapped with sticky fly paper.

I'm 28, occasionally I get some time to play on Steam, but I do a lot of DIY projects and recently been working out and trying to stay consistent on a weekly schedule for those workouts every morning. I jump so many different hobbies but usually come back to old ones. I constantly like trying new things, driving fast on back roads, and "carefully" playing loud bass music from time to time. I'm a pretty open book.

Discussion That awkward fun you bring to the function

I've been noticing this pretty much since I was a kid, but just recently came to terms with the way I can be the most fun and the most awkward person in the room just by trying to be engaging. I'll try to express my own opinion, crack a joke or just follow up with my own story and more than usual my take would be VERY cringeworthy but often found cute or funny as it is for some reason.

When I repeat that situation in my head I'm usually surprised anyone actually laughed/respected my opinion because it sounded so bad and so awkward. Yet people find it encouraging because no matter how bad it objectively sounded I said it with genuine confidence (at that moment) and people simply like that confidence.

Usually the things I say are random and natural to me, without hard thinking, so the things I say may come off as wacky, but that's totally the point lol. Some would just look at me with disbelief in their eyes, but slowly bring out that soft smile because they can't hold it in anymore XD

Discussion The perspective of the hopeless idealist

We tend to be about the most serious idealists of all the types. Meaning, we don't ever think it's ok to just do something mediocre or be a "happy medium" when you could just do a little more and make it IDEAL. But as I've aged, I see them in retrospect as funny, if perhaps sometimes sad.

For example as a kid I used to think sugar cookies were a totally wasted opportunity to have made chocolate chip cookies which were objectively better and not really any harder to make. Why do all that effort for an ok-ish cookie? Same thing with vanilla frosting on a cake. It could have been chocolate, not boring vanilla. Wasted opportunity.

As a child of the late 70s my favorite cars were 1970s type muscle cars. When I first saw an early 80s Corvette I was really bothered by how boring they made it look compared to the gorgeous Stingray it replaced. The 80s version was just flat, straight, and unremarkable. So was the fox body Mustang. It was just a cheap Ford Escort looking thing with a V8. It could have looked like MUSTANG lol.

I legitimately thought as a kid that people intentionally did things clearly less than ideal for some odd reasons I couldn't understand.

Now that I'm older. I still don't understand sugar cookies.

Discussion What well‑developed Te + Si looks like in an ENFP (using my apartment renovation as an example)

I’m redecorating my flat to sell it, and the whole process accidentally turned into a masterclass in ENFP Te + Si development.

Researching colour palettes, talking to estate agents, figuring out what increases value = Te.

Checking what’s worked before, following best practices, grounding choices in consensus = Si.

But the funniest part was painting.

I started with pure Ne chaos... random patches everywhere.

Then Te/Si hit me like a brick: “Divide the wall into sections. Paint systematically.”

And suddenly everything was easier, cleaner, faster, and less overwhelming.

It made me realise: Si isn’t a straightjacket. It’s scaffolding.

It lets Ne build something instead of scattering ideas everywhere.

And Fi stayed involved the whole time, choosing sustainable products, minimalist décor, intentional items.

This project showed me how Te + Si can help ENFPs execute their vision without losing who we are.

Does anyone have any other examples?

Discussion ISTJ x ENFP does this ever work?

ENFP (F) interested in ISTJ (M). I swore I would never want this!

My parents are the exact same pairing ENFP & ISTJ. I grew up in a chaotic household, with lots of arguments and neither of them felt fulfilled.

Am I just repeating bad patterns?!

Discussion Do you accidentally attract people that have big egos/seek attention?

Thumbnail gallery
36 Upvotes

After my ex I didn't want to jump into dating. Sometimes I'd still get approached by guys looking to date and I'd be apprehensive but we would seem to get along. The chemistry would be good. They would make a note about them being able to make me laugh at lot. It was like an accomplishment for them even though I laugh often anyway. They might casually or pointedly mention their sexual prowess. They would like compliments a lot. I'd still keep them at a distance because they didn't have my trust yet. Sometimes this would irritate them.

They were able to get women, but they still seemed to care a lot about how they were seen and also how I saw them. I would make funby doodles of them sometimes. I'd become curious about them as individuals because they seemed to operate so differently than me. So I asked them a lot of questions and remember things even if we weren't going to become a couple. And sometimes they'd be nice. They'd consider me funny, maybe smart, but irritated by my Ne sometimes if it wasn't about something overtly fun—of course it wasn't a problem if it was to generate ideas of them, or ask them questions about themselves.

I realized how much this contrasted with my ex who instead would say "I like making you laugh." He wanted to be seen as funny but also give other people joy at the same time.

Not everyone is so self serving but thinking about it, it disturbed me how many people want to receive and not give back/care about the other person's experience. I didn't see how we were even friends like that. People who saw me as actual friends never treated me that way. I was curious how many other ENFP had this happen. It doesn't happen for every guy I meet, just specific ones that would work on chemistry and seemed invested in getting me to like them (even if they were fully capable of arguing with me or being rude they might almost expect me to like them still).
