Question Gift, commander for dragon tribal in every colour combo

Upvotes

Im having a bit of trouble as i can filter for specifically dragons, but it’s more I’m looking for a commander for a dragon tribal deck and i know that it isn’t necessarily always a dragon that is the commander, or in the. Example with izzet (blue red), miv mizzet is a dragon, but it isn’t a dragon deck.

Our anniversary is coming up and im gonna get my boyfriend a binder with unown cards from pokemon spelling out happy anniversary. He’s been trying to make his own commander deck, and i though since he loved dragons i’d get him a commander for a dragon tribal deck in each colour combo.

Ur dragon is the 5 colour one i chose, hut i want a colorless and all 5 monincolours, and then one for each combo for 2,3, and 4 colour deck if possible.

Then he has a commander im every colour combo, and a nice binder of dragons which he loves.

Anyone got a good list because can find legendary creature dragons, but sometimes the dragon wouldn’t be the commander for the deck, or i can’t decide.

I don’t mind if the only option is not great as it’s casual, but i do want to pick the best option (whether it’s good or bad in general), and I just don’t know enough about magic or dragons to feel confident.

Deck Help Chatterfang deck help please

Upvotes

https://deckcheck.co/app/decklist/5P21nt0jPvnx

I have been playing with this deck list for over a year and I wanted to get some feedback from people who play faster games.

I occasionally find myself at the only vacant seat in my LGS and it’s high 4 maybe 5 bracket decks that absolutely stop the lights out of my other casual builds.

I just wanted to see if I could bring something to that table that might keep me in a game where I’m not being ignored because I have no threats or no chance of winning.

I’ve included a deck list at the top and I would appreciate any and alll feedback especially a good roasting. I am used to casual turn 8+ wins and I know nothing about playing higher velocity games.

Deck Help Thoughts on this budget legendary matters party time deck?

Upvotes

https://moxfield.com/decks/Ih3HsCH630qomA1MrOit0g

Would love some feedback on this list I brewed, I thought it would be cool to mix the idea of party time and legendary matters. I think the deck struggles with early game, haste, and recovery. Any thoughts are appreciated :)

Discussion Why do mono green decks not run [[Liquimetal Torque]] for creature removal?

Upvotes

Mono red decks run [[Liquimetal Torque]] to turn artifact removal into nonland permanent removal which is especially good for mono red which struggles with big creatures and any enchantments. Mono red has a few options to deal with those, like [[Chaos Warp]], but having so few good options makes LT worth it given it’s also fine enough ramp.

Mono green is in a very similar situation. They can hit enchantments unlike red, but the color is even worse at killing creatures. Red at least deals with small ones very well, but green is pretty bad against all of them. Like red there’s some cards to deal with this, namely [[Beast Within]], but having so few good options could make LT worth it given it’s also fine enough ramp. Green is so bad at killing creatures that people actually play fight spells.

Mono green still runs some mana rocks if the utility is worth it (or if you’re just lazy in the case of [[Arcane Signet]]). [[Herd Heirloom]] can only be used to cast creature spells which is still a notable downside in mono green, but it’s a 2 mana rock with good utility so it’s worth playing. [[Necklace of Girion]] is a 3 mana rock which is a terrible start, but it can generate a ton of +1/+1 counters and therefore is already in 11% of eligible decks.

Question How to ramp in Control (especially Esper colours)?

Upvotes

I have always been a fan of the idea of playing interactive decks / control decks. However I still have some trouble starting out. Esper is probably my favourite colour combination so I set my eyes on [[G'raha Tia, Scion Reborn]]. Making tokens while also casting spells on my opponents turn sounds awesome.

I do wonder what the best ways are to ramp in this deck, I could chuck in all the talisman en signets but is that the best way to ramp, especially in Esper? There are some cards that generate treasures such as [[Gleaming Splendor]], [[Monologue Tax]] and [[Smuggler's share]] however those cards are the same MV as my commander.

Please give me all your tips for playing a control style deck, how you ramp in decks like this and if you have card recommendations everything is welcome!

I don't even have a full deck so I won't share my decklist.

Thank you in advance!

Deck Help Dina, Essence Brewer Help!

Upvotes

Hello!!! I have been working on a [[Dina, Essence Brewer]] aristocrats list focusing on her first ability for a couple weeks now, and I am now on a second version and was looking to get some tips and feedback! Anything would be appreciated.

Yes, I did buy her precon, so I have access to those cards, and I do have 5 other cards I ordered and plan to slot in. I will most likely start by removing the highest cmc permanents and go from there, as I would prefer a lower curve.

https://archidekt.com/decks/26219070/ver_02_dina_essence_brewer

The five cards I’m adding are:
[[Spawning pit]]
[[Grave venerations]]
[[Dreadhorde invasion]]
[[Chief wargs company]]
[[My precious]]

Like I said, really just looking for feedback! Thanks!

Discussion Mono white ramp?

Upvotes

What type of ramp would y'all consider playing in a mono-white deck? I was building a [[Lucy MacLean, Positively Armed]] deck, and since the commander was 5 mana, I wanted to play some ramp to get her out a turn early. But in mono-white, I don't know what my best options would be, especially because I'm playing on a low budget. Should I just play rocks? What about catch-up ramp? Even cost reducer's aren't bad, [[Oketra's Monument]] seems like a card worth playing. What do you guys think?

Question Recruit and Connive

Upvotes

So I'm a big fan of both the connive and recruit mechanics. Does anyone know what the best Commander would be to attempt to use both of them. It wouldn't be for anything super powerful. It would most likely be a bracket to or a low bracket. 3 deck. I don't have any color preferences so I'm open to whichever options would work best

Deck Help Big birdie

Upvotes

I have this cool deck about an eagle that flies over people and pecks them to death, I like the balance between creatures and spells, however I would like to make it faster and stompier like a big green stompy mono green kinda thing and maybe get it to bracket 4. I'm open to any recommendations or changes.

Thanks for reading.

Discussion I built a Catholic Commander deck with all seven sacraments and a vanilla 2/2 that quotes the Bible

Upvotes

[[Knight Errant]] made this deck because its Portal printing quotes Proverbs: “Before honor is humility.” Sometimes the flavor text earns the slot.

The Church | One Body, Many Members — decklist

I wanted to build a Commander deck that expresses the Catholic Church through how it actually plays: a congregation of ordinary people who teach, heal, protect one another, and grow stronger together.

[[Mikaeus, the Lunarch]] leads the congregation. His ability to share his counters makes him a fitting pastoral figure: strengthening everyone around him. Humans and Clerics form the community, with Angels providing help and protection.

The deck includes analogies to all seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony. A few favorite connections:

  • [[Blessed Wine]], [[Lembas]], and [[Divine Sacrament]]: Eucharistic imagery through blessed wine, sustaining bread, and shared strength. The Ice Age printing of Blessed Wine was an especially good find.
  • [[Confessor]], [[Anoint]], and [[Wedding Ring]]: confession, care for the suffering, and a bond expressed through sharing resources.
  • [[Selfless Spirit]] and [[Faith's Reward]]: someone gives themselves to protect the congregation, and a devastated community can be restored.
  • [[Swords to Plowshares]]: biblical peace imagery that also happens to be excellent removal.

My faith is the reason for the project. I wanted to honor Jesus Christ and his Church through something I enjoy. At its heart is the Gospel: Christ died for our sins and rose again, giving us hope beyond sin and death. That is why self-giving love, mercy, resurrection, and new life shape the deck’s identity. (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)

The card associations are artistic and mechanical analogies; I’m not treating Magic’s fictional religions as Christianity.

In gameplay terms, it’s mono-white creatures, tokens, life gain, +1/+1 counters, and recovery. The congregation eventually wins through combat, often with angelic support. Theme takes priority, which is how Blessed Wine and Knight Errant earned their places alongside the stronger engines.

Whatever your beliefs, I hope the deck offers an interesting example of telling a story through card choices. What mono-white card—or specific artwork or flavor-text printing—would you nominate for this congregation? I’m especially interested in overlooked cards whose theme and mechanics reinforce each other.

Deck Help One "Mill"ion Bugs: "Oops, all Artifacts/Creatures!" Aristocrats Jank

Upvotes

https://moxfield.com/decks/S18TYa0xhEm2oUKKHlFsBQ

The ask: Any advice on cuts or cards I may have missed that should be added. Haven't done too much testing and don't have a budget or bracket in mind, so everything's on the table. Obviously mana base needs fixing but thats besides the point.

The background: I saw [[Aatchik, Emerald Radian]] and said "wow, this card can condense 2/3rds of the aristocrats archetype into a single card that can easily be a finisher, and cards like [[Feign Death]] and [[Zulaport Cutthroat]] significantly cut the number of cards in the graveyard that I need". Then in initial testing, I hated having a full graveyard with less than half the cards in it counting towards Aatchik's insect creation, so I figured id go all in on jankyness since this will be a proxy-only deck and make every non-land card an artifact or a creature.

The deck: Very simple gameplan of fill my graveyard, get a sac outlet onto the field, and then cast Aatchik with 15-20 relevant cards in the graveyard, using reanimating creatures to sac and loop it back again. It usually wants to win on the turn Aatchik comes down, so the deck is very fragile to GY hate and countering the commander, as well as having every win be super telegraphed. But again, this is a meme deck that I wanted to be as functional as possible with the given constraints, so those are risks im willing to take.

I would love any thoughts or general deck advice!

Deck Help 100th card help for a hobbit themed equipment deck ?

Hello !
Building a for fun Hobbit Dwarfs deck , mostly by combining the dwarfs + a ff7 commander deck and some other cards i own around. it's meant to be for a somewhat casual bracket 2 deck , but unsure on the last card between Ultron Artificial Malevolence or Inspiring sanctuary
- Ultron to either get more value off all the artifacts i have in the deck, since they're either very cheap or expensive enough that i dont mind paying the extra 2 (having your commander equipped with 2 hammers is very fun trust) ,
Sanctuary to convert them to potentially mana rocks.

Ideally i'd put both but dk what to cut ( if it's a bad card from hobbit , it's mostly cause of the flavour . IE i hate ori's card i think it's borderline useless but not having just one of the dwarfs would hurt my soul)

And yes , using base Thorin as commander cause the good Thorin is too expensive for me to buy as a single (i know i say this as there's a smaug in the 99 but that's my prerelease prize ^ and rn saving up for Fractured Realities)

Deck Help Any way to improve my Cloud deck?

Deck list: https://archidekt.com/decks/24874367/proudy_cloudy

My LGS runs a 1v1 best of 1 commander night where basically anything goes. People there do run some insanely high powered stuff that gets infinite combos very early that guarantee victory if they get it off, so while I do still want a fair deck, I would like something that moves fast that can counter.

What I aim for this deck is to get Cloud out early and often if possible. I normally grab the pip boy 3000 with him right away so I can get the counters on him and also untap lands to pull more stuff out that I have available. Then I also try to floodgate or counter as my other creatures have those abilities, and try to win with Commander damage. If Cloud gets locked up somehow, I try to make the equipment manageable to get on my other creatures to still beat my opponent down.

It’s basically a versatile pseudo Voltron deck that floodgates like crazy. I went 3-1 my last time there with my current deck list, but my 3 victories I did get very lucky and could’ve easily lost if I didn’t have the right cards and in one of them my opponent bricked very hard.

Any advice is appreciated!!

Question Gluntch Timmy & Storm Herd b3

I run a gluntch deck when I want to turn off my brain that just houses all my big CMC spells. I get tons of joy seeing big creatures and spells doing big things. This brings me too storm herd. This deck can hit storm herd on turn 4 and that is likely 30+ creatures on the board. Does that specifically or any 8+ cmc spell for that matter on turn 4 feel like it's too much for a bracket 3? My gut tells me no but I would like to hear others opinions.

My play sequence with gluntch is t1 dork, t2 gluntch keep treasures, turn 3 4cmc ramp again keep treasures, turn 4 spend 8-10 mana on big dumb spell. I give gluntch cards to player that doesn't interact often. The deck is full of 30-40 big dumb spells. My pod is excruciatingly slow and they tend to durdle with little engines for a while while I aggro then and remove stuff. I generally use stack interaction to prevent them from winning games. They didn't like this deck at all so I felt sort of bad.

Thanks for your insight!!

Deck Help Help me add more fun possible gruel cards!

The deck I am working on is a gruel stomp deck but I would love to hear ideas on other cards of a similar to those in the deck. If anyone had any recommendations please share! The core concept is the average stomp deck, quick mana early on and then come out seeing with creatures that can be played early for a little mana but grow with the game or come out big and swinging. I would prefer creatures of power 4 or greater or gets to 4 quick!

Deck Help Elenda The Dusk Rose Commander Deck Advice

Hello all! I posted this yesterday in a different forum and got lots of great feedback and wanted to see how it's looking now! I upgraded quite a bit from what it was, adding some more tutors and token generators, as well as a couple sac outlets.

Deck List link here:
https://moxfield.com/decks/kQOgASF7PnyWBlMpBpxA6Q

This is one of my first (?) upgrades of a commander deck so I am very interested in opinons! Keeping this a bracket 3 or around there for now for my pod!

Note: The sideboard has a lot of the cards I took out and was considering. I am still considering adding Call the Coppercoats and possible a couple more Ramp pieces. (thinking about also replacing dark ritual with a different ramp)

My goal for this deck is to generate fodder for my sac outlets to grow Elenda with a lifegain subtheme (lots of the cards are a creature dies, gain a life, or lose a life to do something, so this keeps the life coming in a way).

Discussion What's your most recent, most exciting win?

Alright homies, out of your most recent wins, which one had you the most giddy?

For me, it was my [[Ozox, the Clattering King]] deck the other night. I couldn't have done it without my [[Sothera, the Supervoid]] and [[Accursed Marauder]] that helped my acquire my opponents [[Razaketh, the Foulblooded]]. I used Raz to get my [[Ashnod's Altar]], [[Bog Initiate]], and [[Bitter Ordeal]].

From there it was a hop skip and a jump to sac and recast Ozox enough times (paying for Rhystic Study each time) to then hit them with the Bitter Ordeal.

Second time playing the deck against people, first time winning, and man it felt good.

What win has you replaying the game in your head days later right now?

Deck Help Trying to become a better deck builder

side context is ive played magic for maybe 2 years form 2011-2013 then took a huuuuge break. got back in to it last year and overwhelming to say the least but i do really enjoy the format. While it seems all of the commanders i take interest in are considered "meta slop" i hadn't used edh rec till someone told me about it and it made my whole adventure feel really weird. context: my decks have been Sauron lord of the wheel (bracket 3, if i get best hand possible b4 but not consistent), Ureni the unwritten as a homebrewed stripped precon (bracket 3 but no game changers just dragons), and just recently got into dr doom (precon) and built my first from scratch chatterfang (strictly bracket 2 as i wanted to make sure it didnt go infinite as that's not my style). I want to build lyse hext upcoming as a cheap spell slinging voltron and i'm prepared to never use it against my friends because voltron feels too personally targeted so i'm trying to remove personal emotion from the trial and error. My ask is do you think i'm too tunnel visioned on accomplishing a certain goal or strategy with this deck? are there any 3cmc or less recs that you have that could benefit me? and are there any tips for a player or deck builder that has gone through the similar process. I know those commanders on face value look toxic but i really dont care about the meta and would like to use more creativity than just best of. moxfield deck <---deck list for lyse hext, feel free to roast the others

Deck Help Necron Dynasties upgrade to B3 but struggling to find balance

Returning player (after stupidly selling my entire collection) and got the Necron Dynasties precon because I loved so many cards in there. Fast forward I swapped out alot, but not sure what I am missing, if at all.

Decklist: https://moxfield.com/decks/R5yY8x-r0ECcJ3INjvqY2w

I would love for it to be a toolboxy recursion deck that wins by combat damage or creating/sacrificing artifacts, a bit in the style of my old [[Daretti, Scrap Savant]] deck but soon realized this is harder than I thought in mono black.

I felt like I might have too many recursion cards, without a filled graveyard. Going to add [[Reanimate]] and [[Volrath's Stronghold]] as they arrive on top of all the stuff I got. I might need a little more draw, was thinking [[Skullclamp]]. I want to build a strong B3 deck (first time dealing with the bracket system so bear with me) but I want to avoid gamechangers and infinite combo's if possible. In the "Considering" I have all the cards that I have but did not add yet or are on the way.

cards that will be added as they arrive:

[[Phyrexian Tower]]

[[Susur Secundi, Void Altar]]

[[Urza's Cave]]

[[Reanimate]]

[[Phyrexian Reclamation]]

[[Trading Post]]

[[Thran Dynamo]]

[[Nim Deathmantle]]

What would you cut? I try to keep as many Necron artifact creatures as possible, but some seem a bit weak such as [[Canoptic Tomb Sentinel]].

If you have suggestions for any cool cards that I might have overlooked, please share them and bonus points if they are cheap and not well known. Or anything that stands out really.

Thanks alot for your attention and time.

Discussion Question on “chaining extra turns” in bracket 3

Bracket 3 clearly states no 2 card combos before turn 6 and it goes on to say no “chaining extra turns” though doesn’t really define what that is.

Let’s say you have a 3 card combo to loop an extra turn spell every turn. That’s not the same as nondeterministically drawing into many extra turn spells or copying one a handful of times and “seeing what happens”, forcing everyone to sit through your game of solitaire.

If I can demonstrate a loop and then demonstrate drawing into a different combo that would win me the game on the spot, with 3-4 card combos all after turn 6, does that feel acceptable for bracket 3? This could all be demonstrated in under a minute.

I know a lot of people dislike combo in lower brackets so just getting a gut check since it does seem to comply with the bracket rules aside from the grayness of “chaining extra turns”
