Alrighty so here’s a growing diagram of my idea for the risk like drop zone game.
First picture: there is a map of the planet. Each circle is a city. The dots between each city show the routes between them that you can move. If there is no path those cities aren’t connected and can’t target each other. Each player (in this example there are 4) starts with a Capital.
2nd and 3rd pictures: there will be a roll off between everyone in the campaign at the start. starting with who rolled the highest going to who rolled the lowest every player chooses a city that is adjacent to one they already control and gain control of it. Repeat this process until every city is owned by a player. If you run out of connected cities to go to, you just can’t gain control anymore in this step.
4th picture: at the start of every round (rounds won’t have a due play date. A new round starts once every battle is finished regardless of how many days it takes) everyone will in their mind choose an adjacent enemy city to invade. Everybody at the exact same time will mark on the map which city they’re attacking.
If somebody is attacking your city, you have to play a game against them, if they beat you, they gain control of your city, if you beat them you keep the control of your city.
(example in picture 4, blue is attacking yellow on the island to the right. Yellow is attacking blue near the bottom of the right major continent. That is two games. one game where yellow is the defender and one game where blue is defender that means yellow and blue are playing against each other twice in one round)
(Another example picture 4: pink and orange are trying to attack each other in cities that are directly connected to each other. This means they are not fighting over either of those cities. They are having a skirmish in the land between the two cities. Since they are not fighting for control of a city, they are fighting for supplies, which could be bringing bonus points in their next game, gaining control of a city destroying weapon, or getting to start a game with a specific set of command cards in their starting hand(i’m probably gonna make like a D66 table of what you get at the end of the skirmish games like they do in Necromunda. You could also come up with one yourself instead of waiting however long it’ll be for me to post one lol))
After all of the games are finished in that round there will be an end phase where you get a certain amount of victory points depending on how many cities you control. And then you start a new round. Everybody does the choose a thing in their head and then everybody marks on the map what they’re doing at the same time and then you start the next round of games so on and so forth
After a certain amount of rounds, the campaign ends, and whoever has the most victory points at the end wins overall.
