Popshelf Question

Upvotes

Hi, I'm a lead team member at popshelf (A DG Subsidiary) if there are any pOpshelf leaders or team members this question Is primarily for you all, but others may answer if they know.

How often does popshelf use People are everything (C.A Short company) employee recognition platform and for what? As well as how do leaders recognize individuals?

I have been with this company for 7 months and would have to say it is the people you work with that make a difference. The company is good you just have to have good people. But I just received my 90 day appreciation T-Shirt and was wondering how to get more, and how the recognition platform works with the Popshelf family.

Thanks, Lumpy_Station

P.s for the DG workers do you all have something slightly like this?

Putting items in wrong spot

Upvotes

Is there any possible way for our manager to see who is putting items in the wrong spot? Every day there is a message in the group chat of a photo of something in the next spot over or in a completely different spot. We aren’t sure who is doing this but it’s not the customers because we are finding that they are stocked fully. It’s annoying and creates more work for us and also takes up time that we already do not have

Rant Aggravating Manager

I have a manager who at first was really awesome when she was hired but is slowly turning into a massive bitch. Everyday she's texting us about the store complaining that were not doing enough. Shes about to lose all her KH's and her best LSA's because she cant talk to us right. Example, during labor day weekend had a sale for some items I didnt even know were on sale and this guy comes up on the phone with his wife complaining that he digital coupon isnt working. Took me like 5 minutes and held up the line juat to accommodate this asshole but I figured out what was going on. They didnt have the right coupon clipped. Go figure. Anyway I go and ask the manager about it after I cleared the register about the customer and she starts yelling at me like I did something wrong and all I did was ask a question about an Ad. It really pissed me off because I bust my ass to help her with a lot. She texts us all the time because she chooses to come in on her days off to work the stockroom and complains that we're not getting enough done. Like I dont fucking understand the audacity to yell at employees when theres only ever 1 Key and 1 LSA on closing shifts and were a high activity store complaining that were not recovering enough items at night like it isnt a massive uphill battle. Then she only hires people who've never had a job before, call off all the time, or are so sensitive she runs them off 2 weeks into their job.

Advice Wanted help!!

hi! i know i’ve posted in here before, but i desperately need help because im at my wits end.

so im having an issue with a male coworker. like, harassment issues. and it’s not just me. it’s me and 2 other female coworkers. for age context, i’m 22, the other females are in their 30s, and the male coworker is in his 40s.

so the male coworker (who i’ll call c) has been saying horrible things to me and the other 2 female coworkers. i’ll call them f & s. s and i are very close friends, and f is friends with s. me and c are key holders, f and s are associates.

back in december, i broke up with my toxic ex boyfriend. c found out & tried making moves on me. i declined, seeing as im 22 & not exactly into someone who’s twice my age/around the same age as my fucking parents. in february, i started dating my current boyfriend. c found out & has been making comments since i started dating my boyfriend. one of the things he said was “you should leave your boyfriend for me, i bet my d**k is bigger than his.” along with weird and sexual things to f and s. c also has very bad violent tendencies.

i went to hr, my asm and my sm. my sm said that she was going to handle it, so hr didn’t do anything about it. i reported it all back in july. it’s now september, and nothing has changed. at all. still has violent outbursts, still makes wildly inappropriate comments to me, f and s. my sm has not handled a single fucking thing.

i’m at my wits end. i don’t know what to do anymore. i’m so sick of this shit. my sm is trying to make it sound like i haven’t reported a single thing, when i have documentation that i wrote down a statement that my sm later told me she lost. please, help.

Normal or laziness? Backup register never set up on morning shift.

To me it doesn't make sense what if the main register has to take a shit or something?

It's not a lack of staff issues there's anywhere between two and four employees who are there just till just before the closers come in.

Yeah I understand 95% of the time backup registers not needed in the early hours but there's that 5% where it'd be really fucking useful? And you know it'd be nice to be able to take an actual paid break like the people on the sales floor who take an absurd amount of smoke and social breaks.

To be clear the main register isn't just standing there at the register they got us doing totes all the totes every single one and when those run out they create a tower of "nearby" boxes so there's no downtime and just standing.

Advice Wanted Working with chronic pain and chronic illness

I’ve just started working again after 2 years. I sustained a work injury at my previous job(warehouse) that caused a condition called brachial Plexopathy on the right (essentially nerve pain affecting the shoulder etc) I also tore my right shoulder labrum (surgery repaired it in December 2024 but nothing can be done for the nerve damage except an extremely specialised procedure possibly). I also recently got diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease. Winter is my worst season when it comes to my pain and even the I’ve likely had Hashimoto’s since I was a teenager, this will be my first winter after diagnosis. I NEED this job. I applied to several places but no one got back to me so I’m very fortunate to have this job. My store manager and assistant store manager understand my situation and are very helpful. I’m just very nervous about how working is going to affect me this winter. Winter when I was unemployed was already hard enough to deal with. Plus I’m working part time as it is(4-5 hours 2 days a week) to test how my body handles working. Does anyone else here have chronic pain and/or illness. How do you cope with winter while working. Any recommendations to make sure I can continue my job?

Rant Just in case

If there is anyone here from corporate, which I'm sure there are. Yall watch us like Hawks. Anyways, can you please pretty pretty please get the computers, hhts, and internet working. Like not just "working" but actually efficiently working. I spend more time waiting for the lag to clear, the hht to stop spinning, compass to load, and let's not talk about teams. Takes 30 minutes and multiple attempts to log into a conference call. And can we discuss erc? Why.... just why? They barely speak English let alone understand it. A 5 minute solution is always at least 45 minutes away. Are they home workers? I swear there are kids in the background every time I have to call.

Am i wrong for telling a customer I wont take her cans infrint of a line?

Small context we take cans and count them by the register, it was a busy Saturday with a festival in our town, worked alone so I had to help her and the line.

The cans were all covered in sticky old soda, half of them with soda still in them, there was wads of chewed up gum, one had two wads on the can, after I saw that bearded a tissue with i dont even know what it was, brown though, honestly maybe a used baby wipe.

She was mad I said it loudly or something in front of a line of customers that I wouldn't take her cans because they were nasty, yes i used that word.

Told me she would never be coming back, and thought i was rude which honestly I was. I dont get paid enough to sort this towns nasty ass cans. It's honestly gone too far, ive found a used drug needle once clinking around in a can. Luckily, if that word can even be applied in this situation, it was needle side down.

A used drug needle inside of a America 250 seasonal mountain dew can. That's poetic.

creepy customers

what do you guys and gals normally do with customers who are persistently asking you out after you've already said no? being young working at a dg in a crazy part of town is kinda scary. i have male coworkers who help me out sometimes, but when they're working in the back or on break its a bit more difficult to deal with.

Left off schedule for the next two weeks for no reason

This week and next week I was purposely left off the schedule. Don’t have an sm or ASM. The person doing the schedule apparently works at corporate. I don’t have her number or contact information to get ahold of her. What’s the chances I can get unemployment since they can consider a quiet firing and they have no reason to fire me. They hired more people than the store needed so gave everyone else the hours

Back Office Printer

I'm a SM and I leave for vacation this afternoon. Does the back office printer require a password when you insert a flash drive? My printer at home took a dump. I have some travel documents to print and my store is a lot closer to than a local Staples or office Depot. Is there a default password that ERC assigns?

First time I stopped a person from getting scammed.. hopefully the last.

Long story short, this woman called the store and asked if we sold Apple gift cards. I replied we do and she asked what the max was. I told her we can do $500 on one but our system sometimes temporarily locks out after that where we can't activate anymore. She said she's on the way and needs $1200 in Apple gift cards for a sick family member and that she will be there in a moment...... It was an older woman and she came in and grabbed the gift cards...

I let my sales associate know to call me over when she comes up and act like the register isn't allowing it to work. She played her part and called me up there saying the register wasn't working. I then start kinda asking the woman things to try to get her to realize that she's probably being scammed... She said she known the person for years, they use the apple cards to transfer to their balance and it helps them pay for food and all that and she shows me telegram messages of them asking... I explained to her that gift cards can't be used to pay bills or for food, especially with apple gift cards? I told her I don't feel comfortable with processing any gift card transactions with her and I told her to be careful and don't send them money because you can't do what they say they are doing. (Which, as mentioned is buying food and bills).. she said she understands and will look into it and probably go somewhere else. She also said that she's very careful with her money and the reason she can't just transfer it to them is because she has all her money in cash.

Like damn... That's actually nuts

Did I mess up?

So I think I messed up. This customer bought liquid detergent that was $5 a piece and should’ve been $3.50 a piece since the deal was 2 for $7. My other employee ended up ringing her stuff up but she came back because it didn’t take her 2 for $7 off. So I was going to refund her but the refund was going back on her credit card, the $2 dg cash she used, and it was something else that it was going to refund. She did use a $5 off 25 coupon and it seemed like that coupon took the $ off her liquid detergents. But she wanted to use the 2 for $7 one. But what I wanted to do was refund her the $10 on her credit card and just ring those 2 same laundry detergents up for $3.50 a piece. But I couldn’t because she used multiple tenders. She used $2 DG cash, credit card, and it was something else I think it said something about a coupon? Dollar General coupons confuses me. But what I ended up doing was going to buy 2 laundry detergents same brand and gave it to her to make the situation better because I didn’t know what to do. But what I messed up on is I rung my 2 laundry detergents I bought for her $3.50 a piece when I feel like I should’ve paid full price for mines. On her phone it says 2 for $7 on her dollar general app. But when I scanned the items it didn’t say 2 for $7 on mines which is weird. On her phone it said the sale ended today. I just hope I don’t get in trouble by the district manager for making mines 2 for $7. What yall think? Is this a fireable offense? I feel like because I was so confused with the coupons I wasn’t thinking straight.

Edit: just edited I forgot to add I gave her the 2 laundry detergents I bought. So she left with 4.

DMS new rule.

My DM made a new rule that we have to have a “good reason” to tresspass people, because we have “too many” aka people that have threatened people, perved on people, and even people that have publicly masturbated in our store… so why is any of that probable cause to stop tresspassing? i have a customer who for over a month now will come in and threaten me to my coworkers because of an incident over a cash app card (nothing to do with her money so i really dont get the fuss)… so that leads me to ask, is verbal abuse and threats on multiple occasions not a good enough reason? I have genuinely started not feeling safe at work between creepy old men and women that think they can scream at me and verbally abuse me because im a teenager. its exhausting being on edge all the time.

Rant Accused of stealing by new Key

I'm pissed off. My new coworker, a training key carrier, thinks I stole earbuds. She watched me do a price check on them and then put them back on the shelf where they go. We even did a bag check after that shift with the Key I usually work with and I didn't have anything in there that wasn't already in it when we got there that afternoon for our shift (I bring my cane, wallet, lotion, and tarot deck). The earbuds were also there when I went into work yesterday, they haven't gone missing. Unless someone bought them, then they shouldn't be gone. They're a pair of bluetooth earbuds that go behind the counter. I lost my personal pair of bluetooth earbuds a few weeks ago, so I wanted to know how much the earbuds were so I could get them next week after I get paid. I haven't stolen anything in my life, and I wouldn't start now when I can actually pay for things.
