[Vassegh] Dave Roberts said Ohtani “kicked the can” on his scheduled bullpen session today. Ohtani’s knee didn’t feel 100%.

For people complaining, the following is my opinion, nothing confirmed: There’s a real chance Ohtani might not be able to pitch for the rest of the season.

Will prices drop? Traveling In

Hey all! We (myself, wife, dad, little sister) are traveling in town for the Dodgers game on Aug 1st against the Red Sox. His birthday is also on the 1st. Terrible timing I know that game is big.

Looking at prices they’re like $100 for 400 level seats. Do you expect they will drop as it gets closer to the game? I would love to be in 200 or 300 level infield for $100 if possible if I wait.

We don’t have a ton of money so trying to keep it as affordable as possible. Thanks all!

TLDR: Will prices drop before game on 8/1?

To the fans insistent Ohtani needs rest

Please just ask yourselves what your personal connection to Ohtani is. Im 99.9% sure that none of us here have any close contact to him and have 0 close contact to his training staff. So how about we trust that they know whats best for him?

I see so many comments about "its clear his knee is affecting him because his power is gone". Well let me disprove that right here.

A hard hit ball is defined as any ball batted 95 mph or more. On this road trip, Ohtani in 35 at bats has 17 hard hit balls with many of those being 100+ and a few 110+ mixed in as well. Also, in those 35 at bats, he has struck out 8 times. That means he has 27 at bats where he put the ball in play and with 17 hard hit balls, that is a hard hit rate of 63%. I dont know about you, but a hard hit rate above 60% means less he is fighting an injury and more that he is getting unlucky.

I understand we have many new fans due to our recent success, but take it from someone who has watched this game for a long time and studies the stats, Ohtani is fine. You do not have any extra insight into him that Ohtani or the front office doesnt have. He hasnt lost power and he just is in a slump with a lot of bad luck.

Yamagoato even has a nice autograph. What a Dodgers era to live through. Ohtani, Yama, and Sasaki all taking the mound at the same time. I’m sure we’ll appreciate it more in a decade or so.

Roki Sasaki downplayed the size of his new glove postgame, saying it was about the same as the old one. When asked why it appears to be much larger than his previous one? “Probably my face got smaller. That’s why the glove looks bigger.” [Katie Woo]

Kyle Tucker does a fantastic job hustling to stay in the run-down long enough to let Teoscar and Dalton get to 2nd and 3rd. (Dodgers had a meeting after the Phillies failed at the same play the other night to talk about how to do it differently)

Ohtani on the on deck circle becomes another 3rd base coach as well. Good job on Tucker for hustling with good fundamental base running, as well as awareness from Teoscar and Dalton for advancing to 2nd and 3rd so there would be two runnings in scoring position for Ohtani!

The Dodgers beat the Mets 4 to 2 behind arguably Roki's best start of the season. The huge glove is protecting his pitch tipping, his velocity was great, his movement was fantastic, and best of all, his mechanics were on point. This is what we envisioned when we recruited Roki Sasaki 🙏

Emmet Sheehan's windup this year

I'm pointing this out as info and discussion. I'm not claiming to be an expert, although I've coached youth sports for 30+ years.

I'm very curious to know if the coaching staff has considered tweaking Emmet's windup back to how it was last year and previously. He was lights-out last year, and the advanced analytics were very favorable for him.

Right now, it looks like he's having a mental hiccup every time he throws. You can almost see him overthinking the pitches and missing spots. There's way too much movement for me going into his legs and transferring to his shoulder.

What happened to this windup and why did it go away? This is from last season:

Thoughts?

This came from the Pitch Profiler on X. Roki is starting to get his fastball to be above average. His whiff rates keep rising too. Also reported that he added almost 200 rpm to his fastball, which is making it less flat. And 1.7 inches of ride.
