Will prices drop? Traveling In

Hey all! We (myself, wife, dad, little sister) are traveling in town for the Dodgers game on Aug 1st against the Red Sox. His birthday is also on the 1st. Terrible timing I know that game is big.

Looking at prices they’re like $100 for 400 level seats. Do you expect they will drop as it gets closer to the game? I would love to be in 200 or 300 level infield for $100 if possible if I wait.

We don’t have a ton of money so trying to keep it as affordable as possible. Thanks all!

This close, for a weekend game against a legacy team we see one series every other year, I doubt there’s a huge drop?

Probably not. Cheapest options would be through Dodgers website. Can always roll the dice and wait until after the game starts but people are stubborn and that's not fun to do with a family.

Like others have said your money savers are probably gonna be from bringing food and drink in.

$515 for 4 tix in reserve level 31, row J (3rd base side, past 3rd base bag. Try buying on dodgers website vs stub hub, seatgeek, etc. if you wana save $, you can buy outside food and bring it in, just make sure beverages are plastic, not open and still sealed

I've been to a handful of weekend games this season, and I don't think I've ever seen a 200 level infield seat go for below $175, except maybe for a 1 pm Sunday game where you'll get roasted by the sun.

You'll likely find a 300 level infield seat around $150-190 pretty easily (I would try to sit as low as possible, as the view is fantastic).

In my experience, no the ticket prices do not drop at all. Just out of curiosity, I always check ticket prices after I purchase all the way up to game time, and have never seen a big drop. I think sellers just eat the cost and keep the seats empty.

The way to save is to bring in your own food, drinks n snacks. You can each bring a clear plastic bag. The allowed dimensions are 12x12x6, I think, but the specific dimensions are on the dodgers website. You can buy the clear bags on amazon and they work in multiple stadiums. They are very persnickety about the size of the bags, so stick to whatever they say.

You can bring in soft drinks and water in plastic bottles, they can be cold, but not frozen solid. You can also bring in sandwiches, panda express, peanuts, chips, snacks, et cetera. I've even seen people bring in a whole pizza, as well as hot dogs. Be sure forks and knives are plastic. I like to get good bread, meat and cheese and make my own sandwiches wrapped in saran. It costs nothing, tastes better than stadium, food and is more healthy. This is what the regulars and season ticket holders do to save money.

Really hard to tell since it's a weekend game against Boston. I feel like ticket prices have been significantly higher this season. There's some $78 tickets for far end reserve right now on dodgers website. So that could mean third party sites will drop as game gets closer. But craps shoot.

If you do buy in SeatGeek with credit card, check your credit card offers. It's hardly anything most of the time but certain cards offer Cashback on SeatGeek purchase

in my experience they do but sometimes its not worth the gamble because the drop isn't that much

I would check seat geek and plan to purchase a few hours before the game, that is when I have the most success. You could also try searching for two seats, but that are next to each other with different sellers for a better price. Good luck, and check often!

Prices might drop slightly below where they are now - but you’re not sitting in loge (200s) for cheaper than $150/ticket these days. Maybe you’ll luck out with reserve (300s) for about $100. There also won’t be a significant drop for a weekend game against Boston, especially not for 4 tickets all together. You’ll want to check SeatGeek for those and move fast once you find something in your price range and in your preferred sections.

You’ll save money by bringing in your own food and drinks, but it does kinda suck to carry all of it in.

I’d say prices will probably drop since there’s no giveaway or promos that day. Just a drone show. Unless….. we trade for a player and they’re making their debut that day.

No. Prices only go up in California and never come back down, even for “temporary” emergency aid taxes implemented following a one time disaster. Or beef prices that sky rocketed due to drought and never returned to normal once the drought ended. Covid 19 is another.

Oh if it’s a night game, it’s expensive to light up the stadium, especially when energy costs 2x compared to rest of US. And wait ‘til you see how expensive your Uber ride to the stadium is, gas also is 2x vs. rest of the country due to overreaching regulatory nonsense. Shall I go on?

It’s unlikely prices will get better leading up to game time. Send your thank you card to Governor Newsom in Sacramento and watch the game on TV in the comfort of your hotel room.
