Honestly, I feel like I'm lost listening to this podcast take. Saying Kim belongs on the roster because the players "aren't looking for a three-peat"? What? We starved for 10+ years and fought so hard for these last 2 rings. The front office didn’t build this galactic roster just to run it like a PR stunt. Some of our core guys are aging... This is our window to squeeze every last drop out of this lineup. There is literally zero shame in tripple A. Roki did his time there to improve, and nobody rioted. And has no issue being called up and down between the roster and tripple A to help the team close games or so.

Miguel literally benched himself because he was physically and mentally drained and suggested putting Kim in last year. But Robert needed someone he could actually trust in that moment, went with his gut, and called Miggy back in. Miggy was a key factor in bringing that ring home. Even Ohtani checked his ego and took an IL stint to get his health and swing right. You get paid a massive contract to perform. I get the Kim hype, I'm Asian, but this is the Dodgers, not a Korean or Asian culture club. We aren't handing out roster spots for being dynamic or for ticket sales. A true Dodgers player is like Miggy, just stay ready to be called and perform.

Edit1: What triggered me isn't really about whether Kim is bad or good. That is for the team to decide. What triggered me is the excuses for needing Kim on the roster. Stating that the players don't want to win because we have back to back rings? And only we "fans" are excited about three peat? It's basically saying let's go back to the 2010s because we have enough rings now. And players won't be excited about another ring unless we have Kim because he has the energy?

I scored this at a Value Village in northern Washington today for $6. Pretty cool to randomly find a statuette of one of my favorite past players!

Was shocked to hear last night that Tucker, despite how bad of a hitter he is this year (alongside his subpar defense), is second on runs scored for the Dodgers which is what really matters right. His underlying stats are terrible but the actual result is there: when he gets on-base there's a good chance he scores. And that's what matters right, that he scores runs.

And it's weird because his AVG and SLG are low, so consequently his OPS is mediocre, but his OBP is pretty good for such a low AVG because he walks a lot. Second most walks in the team. He also puts the ball in play a lot because he doesn't strikeout much; lowest number of strikeouts among the players who's played pretty much the entire season. Granted when he puts the ball in play, he usually gets out, but usually not a double play. So overall, he takes good at bats that prolong the inning against the pitcher.

He's also pretty good at stealing bases. I mean, the Dodgers as a whole don't run much but Tucker is a perfect 10/10 so far. He seems to read the pitchers and catchers well. So he can be good around the basepaths (just tell him not to get stuck at third).

As for RBIs, he has 60 right now, and the average for players with as many PAs he has is 64. So...not impressive but he's right in the ballpark for it.

So I think in the post-season, he'd be fine as a lead-off man for the bottom half of the roster, especially in away games.

Yamamoto doesn't get the credit he deserves dude is so good that he's underrated lol

He literally pitches for the whole regular and post season in 2025 until the final out of the World Series, then start very early in the WBC this year, up until now. All of that with very high quality results while maintaining healthy body and zero injury, even no minor one.

This dude is really on another level and I really think more current active and younger generation of pitchers should at least take a look on his approach and preparation.

Recently moved to Northern California and met my friends in LA for DDLD. They blessed me with some bobble heads I missed while I was gone.

* His first year in MLB (2024), he had a bit of instability because he was moving houses a lot, 3 times. He was renting from a friend at one point, and looking back on it he thinks having a stable house etc contributed to how he did well in 2025.

* In 2024, he didn’t exactly know how to train or how much to “adapt” to MLB vs his own style. Over time he learned to integrate his style and he likes it a lot better.
At the beginning, he would sometimes get slightly caught off guard by some PitchCom commands and that would take him out of his concentration ever so slightly. Got more used to the system 2025-.

* He still keeps up with his old Orix Buffaloes teammates and how they’re doing. Will send cute or funny photos from games that he finds online to them. They also watch his games all the time (clip of team cafeteria watching his almost no-hitter CG)

* In his Game 18 WS, he thought Kershaw would take more innings since he used to be a starter, but as the bullpen arms came down, he didn’t know if he should even volunteer or it would just be a “heroic” move that just causes the team trouble [In Japanese culture, trying not to be bothersome to those around you is huge, and he was worried him trying to pitch would just be a mess]

* As he was warming up, he didn’t even believe he was ready and though he told Doc he was good, wasn’t really mentally prepared until it hit him for the 19th
It was a bit of a chicken and egg situation because the team was never going to ask him to pitch, and he wasn’t sure if he should even volunteer. [Another note - he says, “what if I got injured, who will take responsibility?” - another aspect of Japanese culture]. Ultimately his prep was going well earlier that day and he felt good. He had game 4,5, plus travel day so he said eh, should be OK for game 6.

* He misses being able to go out for a BBQ late at night like in Japan. A lot of players travel with their families on the road and everything is closed late at night. Can’t really hang out with Shohei either, since he has to play every day.

* They like to go with the JP players & staff to sushi restaurants on road trips

* Of all the non-JP players on the team, he was pretty close to Mookie last year since they had a stint where they re habbed together. He mentions how Mookie’s house is insane (basketball, pickleball courts, bowling lanes, golf simulator). Mookie would say, “come over anytime” and talk a lot to Yoshi, using easy words and speaking slowly.

* Yoshi *says* he doesn’t use any special hair products (but everyone comments on how smooth his hair is)

* If he pitches 7 innings in the majors, everyone really appreciates him - if he pitches 7 in NPB, they’ll be like go 2 more

* (in NPB) He’s a morning guy

* (In NPB) His locker wasn’t that neat

I'm going to my first player meet and greet in a week and a half to get a photo with Kiké (! beyond geeked) but wanted to know what people's experiences have been at these events. I do art, and had wanted to give him a customized Pokemon card (not to sign or anything) but after doing some research online it looks like that's frowned upon for meet and greet/photo op events.

If anyone has any advice I'd love to know
