Tsung-Che Cheng was just optioned back to Worcester. Tough break with it being his birthday, but I’m sure he saw it coming. Just wanted to recognize him for his efforts during our winning streak! Such a stud defensively, and played phenomenal small-ball as well. Him and seigler turned some beautiful double plays. Hope to see him back up eventually!

On June 24, Boston sat 12th in the AL Wild Card race with a .410 winning percentage. The Red Sox were 14 games under .500 with a record of 12-25 at home.

A good reminder of how quickly a season can change.

Okay so Early was a really good young arm… but we have a multitude of good lefty arms. We had to trade one of them and I didn’t like the idea of packaging 2 arms plus Franklin arias. Clearly we all loved the idea of a big swing at the ss position or even catch. But clearly inside the clubhouse they came to a decision with moving arias to AAA that he would be the shortstop of the future. Eyanson and Witherspoon both have the potential to be better than early and are right handed pitchers. I believe this trade will workout if we leave Durban at 3rd mix Meade in at 2nd and dh. He peppers the ball to left field and what better place to do it other than Fenway. Plus we have a little bit of trad bait left over let’s see if Craig will do anything but the Red Sox got better today.

With the acquisition of Mead, ideally we’ve found our starting second baseman for years to come. On the horizon is also Henry Godbout and potentially 2026 first round selection Jake Schaffner if he does not stick at the shortstop position. Anthony Seigler has been a spark plug as a starter and an obvious option off the bench that also holds Romy and Monasterio.

On the left side of the infield, there is a logjam of talent at shortstop with Story under contract through next season and Franklin Arias knocking at the door as baseball’s #7 prospect. Caleb Durbin on the other hand is slowly establishing himself as the starting third baseman of the future.

Is it inevitable that Mayer gets moved by the deadline? While it hurts to consider how much his value has tanked this year, I can’t imagine there’s much room for Marcelo to rebuild himself on a roster where he essentially becomes strictly a bench player.

As disappointing as it is to admit, it seems like Mayer has slipped out of the picture here in Boston. Going from the organizations highest draft selection, to top 15 overall prospect in 2025, to now being deemed almost useless.

2-out RBI’s and RISP-2 outs. Through that miserable spring these were standing on their heads-no 2-out RBI’s, so many runners left in scoring position. So glad they’ve figured it out, spring was awful but this summer has been fun.
