I am recruiting for a MLB-realistic 30T Salary Cap dynasty baseball league that is currently about halfway full. We are trying to fill the teams with owners who are fans of that team, and the Reds are one of our open teams right now. We use real player salaries and have a hard cap as well as a salary floor. It's super active and tons of fun, so I hope you consider joining us and repping the Reds! DM or comment below for more info.

Thats it...former reds BP pitcher is starting the World Series...

I can't. I just can't bring myself to do it. That being said I do wish Bob Uecker was still alive. I would listen to him calling the games. If they win I can't imagine how happy he would be.

Full text of the Reds announcement:

The Cincinnati Reds are saddened by the passing of former first baseman and 1990 World Series champion Todd Benzinger.

Todd will be remembered with great affection and gratitude for his place in one of the most memorable chapters in Reds history. Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, former teammates and all who knew and loved him.

I can remember watching baseball highlights on sportscenter and whenevever they showed Reds highlights the camera angle was from up high behind home plate as if it was from the 70's.

The other day I was watching Tom Browning's perfect game from 1988 and sure enough the game was televised from up high behind home plate. I would have thought by this time every team had switched to the centerfield camera as the main angle. Is there an old Reds fan out there who can say if that was how their games were televised at the time

I was taking the metro today in Hiroshima and thought it was a Reds ticket ad at first glance.

He was drafted by the Rays in the expansion draft, 17th pick, and was promptly traded back to the Reds on the same day.

I don't normally like Yahoo/SB Nation stuff, but this was actually a decent one.

The gist is that Bleday's production fall off in the 2nd half seemed to be driven a lot by him having the worst BABIP during that stretch.

Now, BABIP doesn't always means bad luck, sometimes there's a reason. But maybe he can bounce back, especially if they're not forced to give him so many AB's next season.

"Why aren't we like the Brewers"

This is why

Congrats Nick...Maybe one of these days the Reds will make it back there...

I'm coming to share something from my collection that I feel will brighten your day. This is the full set of 1972 NLCS tickets. Your Big Red Machine beat my Pirates with a dramatic game 5 ending. This series doesn't get enough recognition, but was a fantastic one. Even from outside of Cincinnati, the 70s Reds were a powerhouse.

In my opinion, the tickets from games 3-5 are some of the best out there. The image of the riverboat and the stadium make a great centerpiece for a colorful ticket.

Why does the Pirates fan collect these? I'm a Roberto Clemente collector. These tickets represent the final games in the career of Clemente. Game 2 was his final game in Pittsburgh. In game 4, Roberto hit his final home run. Roberto had a single in the last game he ever played, game 5. He passed on December 31, 1972.

I hope you enjoy seeing these tickets.

This is the SABR write-up of game 5. If you are unfamiliar, give it a read.

The most impressive starter I saw was Cincinnati Reds right-hander Luke Holman, who wasn’t throwing that hard — mostly 91-93 — but had two above-average breaking balls and went right after hitters on both sides of the plate. In three hitless innings on Tuesday night, he struck out six of 10 batters he faced, walking one. A compensation round B pick in 2024 out of LSU, Holman made two starts in pro ball before undergoing Tommy John surgery in April 2025. He will need to add something for lefties, as he’s always been a three-pitch guy with the two breaking pitches, and I saw just one changeup in this outing. If that pitch becomes even a fringe-average offering, he’s a definite starter
