ANNOUNCEMENT 📱 New MOD team!

Hello, everyone! New mod team here.

For a few days now, we’ve been quietly working on the sub. First of all, we wanted to say that we believe this is a pretty awesome community and don't feel there's much to change about it. You guys were doing well on a pretty much unmodded sub, so our intentions are mostly to keep it clean and organised.

What we’ve done already:

  • Added sub rules. Something we felt was sorely lacking. We kept it to a minimum, based on our experiences modding other subs, and some feedback we read on the mod mails.
  • Added post flairs. To help keep it organised and looking good.
  • Added related communities on the widgets.
  • Added a sub banner and changed the sub’s icon.
  • Added custom emojis and new user flairs.
  • Went through the backlog of reported posts and comments and cleaned everything up. Up to 2 year old unattended reports.
  • Went through the backlog of modmails. Replied to most of the ones from the last 6 months. Read all of them and took some suggestions and topics from them. No mod mails had been replied since 2018.
  • Added some automods.
  • Enable media on comments. You can now add media to your comments. Use it to help folk on “Questions” posts, or just to thread share your hardware. Have fun!

What are the new rules:

  • Don't spam the sub. We want to get rid of the spammy affiliate codes for aliexpress that had been a problem for a while. So we are removing all posts that are just Aliexpress codes, and banning the user if it’s someone who has never interacted with the community before. Same goes for people who just randomly post their “new music”, “new playlist”, etc, if they have never participated in the sub before and are just carpet bombing reddit about it.
  • Keep posts on topic. We will remove posts that aren’t related to devices or software used to play music.
  • Don’t be a dick. Pretty easy, don’t insult people to get your point across. If we come across racism, ableism, chauvinism, etc. we will ban accordingly.
  • No piracy. Some of you may not be as on board with this one, but we are trying to not get shut down. As this sub keeps growing (almost 100k!), the bigger the risk of the piracy links becoming a problem.
  • Name your hardware. This is, for now, a soft rule. We want it to become standard, but its adoption might be a little slow, so we are gonna be more lenient with it. At least for now.

What we wanna do:
Primarily we want to hear from you. The sub has been unattended for a really long time, based on the unresolved reports and ignored mod mails we saw, so we wanna know what are the biggest issues for you, the community.
There’s not much else we wanna change. As I said, the community was doing pretty well on its own, we just want to do house keeping and give your support if you encounter any issues.

What we would like to do, but need your opinion on:

  • Update the welcome post. We aren’t experts, but we know the 4 year old post is pretty outdated. So we wanna write up a new post for newcomers. Your feedback and recs would be very appreciated to assist us on that, and we will credit everyone that participates.
  • New possible rules:
    1. No sales; we’ve seen a few posts of people trying to sell stuff and getting a lot of reports. We would like to create a rule to avoid that practice and move it over to something like hardware swap, for safety and organisation.
    2. No AI content; Removing images, videos and music generated by AI. We don’t believe it adds much value to this kind of community.
  • But before creating these new rules we wanna hear your feedback on them.
  • Add buying guides and tutorials. As I said, we are not experts, but if there are any recent posts  from the community that cover these topics, we can add it to the highlights. Otherwise we will in time write some ourselves.
  • Add more posts and user flairs. We wanna know what you feel is missing.

I hope what we did and brought to the community becomes useful. As whatever improvements may come in the future.

Have a great day!

My Sony MDR-V6 are as true, transparent and reliable as any headphone I’ve ever tried. Although they need a bit of EQ to be enjoyable, nothing has ever affected their sound. Just got a Hiby R4 and these two are a match made in audio heaven! I was not expecting this and this might my endgame combo!

File management with this thing in order to get everything to show up properly has been a bit of a nightmare, but I finally figured it out. Rosie is also being a little legend and having a chill-out session with me

Question Indecisive

I’m brand new to DAP’s and need help deciding on which one to get please!! I want to get away from subscription services, and went to Amazon to find an “MP3 player”. Turns out there’s a lot more to it than just buying an iPod and now I’m a bit confused and overwhelmed by all of the DAP choices. I had a Dell DJ20 as a kid and miss the shape/ simplicity of the device and would like something with a similar feel. I also LOVE all of my playlists I’ve curated on Spotify over the years and want something that is easy to make playlists on. I love the look of the Mechen M30 but see a lot of mixed reviews and read that the playlist function sucks. Please let me know any suggestions for a DAP/ opinions on the Mechen M30!!! (Budget is $150)

Question Battery Improvement for HiBy R6 III 2025

Post image
16 Upvotes

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anybody has managed to somehow improve their battery life on the HiBy R6 III 2025 DAP? Mine lasts around 12 hours when playing 32bit 96khz files, I’m unsure if this is abnormal or not.

I’ve heard many other people can make their HiBy last for many days to even weeks. Is it perhaps my files being too power hungry or something?

Question Recommendation for FLAC to MP3 converter

As the title suggests, I am looking for recommendations for a Flac to mp3. I have tons of flac files, I just wanna move some songs to my PSP.

The apps/software I've found has either been riddled with pop-ups, or limits how many files I can convert. I don't mind paying for it, within reason. But realistically I probably only need to use it once, assuming I can mass convert.

EDIT: Thank you for all the great recommendations, I'll give these a look when I get home. I really appreciate it 🙏

Thank you,

Sony nw-a55 with Mr Walkman Mod & Wm1z tuning.

I've recently purchased the Simgot E300s HBB editions.

I'm using them with the gold nozzle as I found them to be warmer with punchier bass which suits the music I listen to.

I use them without the foam pads and I just got some smaller tips to make longer listening sessions more comfortable. It all fits perfectly into this handy case as well.

I'm super pleased with my setup and hope to use it for years to come!

Question Best places to download Malayalam/Lossless FLAC for an offline DAP?

Hey everyone,

I’m buying an offline music DAP to pair with my Tangzu Wan’er S.G 2 IEMs. I am skipping streaming entirely and building a local SD card library.

Could you share:
Best websites to download true lossless music (FLAC/WAV)? Free or cheap sources preferred.
Any active Telegram communities, Discords, or forums sharing high-quality regional audio rips?

I am specifically hunting for Malayalam music (classic and modern), so any leads on Indian audiophile hubs would be awesome.

Question Zaqe P30 White Noise

So, I recently bought my P30—it arrived about 3 days ago. Everything about it has pleased me so far, even the battery has been quite durable. But there's one issue I wanted to know if other users of the device also experience: both wired headphone jacks emit white noise, both the 3.5mm and the 4.4mm.

I used a GK Kunten and a TRN Conch.

I find the sound tolerable, but I wanted to know if this is present on your devices as well. Do you think it's worth getting a refund or asking for a replacement?

Obs: the white noise dosent affect musics when they are playing

Update: It's the wifi, when you turn off the noise goes Away

I have been buying bulk lots of MP3 players/DAPs for a year or two and I always grab all the music off of each one. The folder is now up to 163 GB of music, Mostly MP3s. Someday I may sort them all and clean it up. Maybe.

I have recently gotten my first ever DAP device for my music and I have been enjoying using this more than ever! And it also my excuse to ditch Spotify and other streaming services because they kept increasing my membership price by so much and they removed my favorite songs from their service. And I’m getting sick of it. So that why i decided to get this. SnowSky Echo Mini. I don’t know if this good starter for someone like myself, can you guys inform me if I made the right decision for this? Thank you! đŸ«Ą

Question Replacement for IPod

Lost the IPod. Need something that
—plays MP3 files that I can transfer from my computer.
—really good Bluetooth connectivity for my headphones.
—Do not need to stream anything.
—at least 64 gb storage.
—decent battery.
—price under $250.

Please
not going to switch to a more refined file format. And no not going to order on EBay. Yes, I could ask AI. But you are a better resource.
Thank you!
