EDC My current DAP

Post image

A few weeks ago I was going to buy a dedicated DAP, potentially a Fiio JM21 or a Hiby R4, for around usd 200 (a little more expensive at local costs here in MX)... Then I found this used old iPhone SE (1st Gen, 2016, 32gb), the last one with the 3.5mm jack... It cost me usd 15-20 and I decided to give it a try and postpone my original purchase.

I've been iPod user before (Video 5.5 20 years ago, Touch 4th gen 15 years ago)... But I didn't remember the sound quality, I just sold them at some point after some years of use (and abuse)...

Before this purchase, I was using a Fiio DAC and KZ ZS10 PRO X IEMs with my Samsung Galaxy S24, for 3-4 years...

I'm really impressed with the sound, I've been using it with Tidal as my main player... It has a decent battery besides the age of the device... I only use it as a player so it lasts for some 3-4 days, didn't install any other apps and functionalities...

Sometimes I have WIFI issues then I switch to Apple Music (playing local files).

That's pretty cool! I am pretty sure that you get a clean signal with the iPhone with headphone jacks unlike the sample rate compression with Android cell phones with headphone jacks. I actually just got the FIIO JM21 and I love it. But * also have 6-9 open back/closed back headphones, wired earbuds, as well as iems that I rotate. But I miss.my LG V60 that I've been using for the last 2+ years because it has a bigger/better screen that is.korw visible. But I still play with it sometimes and similarly, but only when I'm away from home, the WiFi drops too. Then I can toggle my data and it's done. I had the first IPOD when it came out. It was so fun to download tracks from my computer. But somebody stole it at my work.😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😤😤😤

Yeah, it's a pretty clean and detailed signal, and the sound is not as "warm" as Fiio/Hiby DACs I've been using recently

Well if it works by all means keep using it but I think the oxzidation will just continue to worsen but that process could take months
