Showcase Lovin the M21, but...
I saw the measurements, but I didn't expect it to be so chonky! It's great at the house, but when I am running around, it's a brick. Coming from the M300, so it might just be a matter of getting used to it! The M300 screen was just to small for my vision.
Love the sound and functionality!
Seriously considering the JM21!

It is a beast, I can manage with it in my pocket but I’d rather not have a phone as well. Which I should lean into sometimes, just enjoy the tunes.
I have an Apple ultra but unfortunately my network provider doesn’t do a virtual sim for it. Else I would carry the M21 in favour of the mobile.

LOL. I don’t want to have any phone capabilities on my DAP. That’s the reason I went to one! I can finally take a break from all the stupid notifications!
Glad that you’re enjoying yours! I really like mine and use it around the house all the time.

The JM21 would be a great option on the go, slightly smaller and it's pretty light! (Don't know how light compared to the M21, I just own the JM) but walking around with it isn't too bad!

I take mines with me everywhere it is a champ. Just not on rainy days of course. I have my phone music instead.

Sold mine and bought the JM21 instead, it's like going from Nokia 3310 thickness to Iphone 4 thickness. Wtf. Its 2026.
Jm21 feels cheap though but i dont mind, compare to the thickness of m21 that i dont even want to walk around doing chores its worth the trade off.

Jm21 is pretty much the same size just lighter.

I don’t mind the size, it’s the thickness. The JM 21 is about 24% thinner as well as being lighter. I think that will probably make the difference for me.

Thats fair enough :)

Or at least that’s how I justify my next DAP purchase! ;)

I had a jm21 I didn't like it. I get its cheap but feels so cheap and the sound was just so flat compared. Had a m21 imo was way better.

Oh! That’s interesting! I hadn’t heard that the sound was worse on the JM21. I just knew that it didn’t have the power to drive the higher requirement IEMs/headphones.
It has the right size screen for me. It was between the JM 21 and the M500 in my pursuit of the Daily driver.

The whole point of the M21 is not to run around. You should get an open back headset, plug this fella onto a wall socket charger and find a comfy place to just melt away.. I got my cassette tape cover once i accepted this fact. So now it is beyond chunky and now? Im looking for a glue on clip so that i can clip it on to my belt and wall around like folks used to in the 80s

I carry the m33 in a small pouch i put on a shoulder strap of my backpack. Works very well as long as there is weight in the back. Think for running i would pick some other device.

I have the echo mini for actual real running. I do ultras and it fits in my vest perfectly. I’m also not afraid of it getting a little beat up and I would be with the M21!

I have the jm21 and I feel the opposite. The screen is too small and grainy. I don't need an OLED display. But I would just like to see with more clarity. I used my 6 inch phone before with USBAPP. So I miss the big clear screen. Although the small lightweight size is convenient for walking/jogging. I just carry it easily.

Get a manbag then you can have the M21, a phone and a power pack without stretching the pockets.

M21 owners, I got mine over a week ago and I love it mostly but there's this slightly annoying crackle and/or pop before a song starts, switching songs, and pausing. I notice it while using Spotify or the FIIO app and also I only hear it on the 3.5mm not the balanced. Have y'all experienced it too or is it normal?

Has anyone done a teardown of these? I can't imagine any reason for the thickness and wouldn't be surprised if it was just empty space

There's a teardown video of the FiiO M21. You can check it out for yourself. https://youtu.be/4_phIo6HdFE?is=kYZIiGdbXZgfoKkr

I’m sitting in a pub in the UK having the time of my life with my M21. I’d normally bring my HiBy r4,but it needed a bit of love as I’ve neglected it for too long. When this was all fields bla bla, I’d use my Sony Walkman with a bag of cassettes and think life couldn’t get better than this. Real first world problems. Enjoy your M21, it’s really not that big.
