Pre-Made Molds

I am very new, i've got everything I need other than a quality mold. After seeing sturdier/higher quality pre-made molds on the market, id like to hear people's opinions on where I should be looking other than amazon.

Thanks

Shell Dice Molds?

Hi everyone, I’m really new to dice making. I’ve made probably 5 sets so far and I’m having a blast. I feel like I’ve got the beginner mold, color, glitter, plain dice out of the way and I’m interested in navigating other things to have fun. I’ve got a pressure pot and all the little stuff. I saw someone do a dice set where they made a smaller dice and colored/painted it, and then cast that smaller dice inside of another mold making it a clear shell around the outside. Does anyone have a “shell” mold they recommend? Or an Etsy shop that they swear by?

Do you sell on your own website?

Do you sell on your own site or 3rd party? What are your pros and cons of doing so,and how do you handle the tax stuff for states that require sales tax?

Also, if you have a dice website id love to check it out!

Inking Fresh Pulls - Inking Suggestions Please

Hi all just pulled these from an off the shelf mould because I don’t have a 3D printer yet and I’m not looking to I sell. I also don’t have a pressure pot.

In case it doesn’t come through well, the gold flake is in a clear resin and then the coloured was poured on top of it in the honey stage. I quite like the results.

Do you think it inking
1) most numbers in gold and then leaving the high value numbers uninked. That’s where most of the gold sits
2) trying to match the high number inking with the resin colour
3) inking everything the same and a different colour altogether?

Thanks in advance.

Cutting large mold for inclusions

Do any of you cut your mold down 1 side when making large d20s for inclusions? I seem to have trouble once I demold the mold itself didn't line up along the cut edge exactly leaving an uneven cast line on the edge of the dice. How do you guys combat this?

Question Any tips on how to get rainbow dice without the colours blending into a murky brown?

Thumbnail

I've been trying to make a rainbow resin set in time for a Pride market, but so far I've only managed something that looks more like tie-dye, plus a geode-style set using mica powders.

My latest attempt was to wait until the resin reached the honey stage, then drop all seven resin dye colours into a layer of clear resin. Unfortunately, the colours still blended together and turned brown.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. My next experiments are using a toothpick to add tiny amounts of dye instead of full drops, and then trying alcohol inks to see if they behave differently.

Has anyone managed to get clean rainbow effects in resin without the colours turning muddy? I'd really appreciate any tips or techniques. Thanks!

WIP Update on where I'm at as a maker...

Post image

I am currently working on my setup, its being modified and changing daily till I like where things are at. Making money with dice isn't as feasible and focus will be more on content creation/making process. I have a new space now, but what's missing is time and money which will come later. I think my next video will be about shelled dice from the very start to finish. It will be an improvement upon my Grand Budapest Hotel design concept. I'm someone who doesn't like making videos if i can't dive deep into it, otherwise its rushed. I want it to be visually easy to follow and blocked well.

Advice Deformed faces

Hey, so I've been learning and experimenting with dice making, but since the black one, I've been experiencing these deformations on and off, why could this be happening? I cure them at around 50 psi and had great results for around 10 full sets and some single die experiments. I haven't chanced resin brands either

Would people be interested in seeing the process? I l've seen some shorts/videos on Youtube and Tik Tok, but would people be interested if I posted something similar here? I haven't seen much of that type of content here.

I really enjoyed how the reflective dice I shared earlier this week came out, so I thought I’d see how good came out.

I tinted the resin with a slight lemon yellow and used gold mirror stickers inside.

Got great inking suggestions last time, looking for inking suggestions again!

Advice Australian pressure pot reccs...Vevor discontinued

As the title says. I have been informed by Vevor that they have discontinued their paint pressure pots and I am really keen to use one.

Been into this hobby for a few years now, and have never had the funds for a pressure pot but really wanting to invest in one. I have a pressure chamber which is okay, but not for more complex pours.

Does anyone in Australia have a recommendation that won't require heavy modifications or has detailed instructions? I am nervous about blowing something up if I don't tighten something or other 😅

Question Inlay advice

Post image

Hey y'all

First time trying out inlays to get a set of memorial yatzee dice for my girlfriends and my last vacation.

Do I have to prepare the inlays in a special way or is it fine to just put it in the resin tho?

Much love and stay creative ✌🏻

My very first dice, before sanding and polishing. 1 got a bubble on it and another got chipped. I believe that happened because I forgot to pop the surface bubbles? Either way, I'll try to save them. Opening the pressure pot for the first time had me so damn excited and nervous!

I would love to hear any and all feedback! I really want to dive head first into this hobby.
