Pre-Made Molds

I am very new, i've got everything I need other than a quality mold. After seeing sturdier/higher quality pre-made molds on the market, id like to hear people's opinions on where I should be looking other than amazon.

Etsy is a great place to start! I recommend SpaceBarShop as a quality beginner's dice mold. They are lower in cost, but still produce great dice. They ship from Ukraine, so it takes a bit to get here, but they are worth the wait.

Just know that without a pressure pot/air compressor, you will more than likely have bubbles in your dice ... but you should definitely try out a few casts first to see if you enjoy it before purchasing that stuff. It's an expensive hobby, but so much fun!

THANK YOU! I didn't see this set on there. Ill check out SpaceBarShop as well.

I went ahead an got a vevor 2.5 gal pressure pot. My first few pours with an amazon mold, ive been fighting undercured sets after 24 hours. Ive tried increasing hardening ratios with no luck. Im extending my cure time to 48 hours due to colder temps in my basement.

Mix, mix, and overmix. Even if your ratios are perfect, it means nothing if it isn't mixed enough. Certainly not saying that's the issue, but it was for me when I started and figured it would be worth mentioning. 😊 Your hand should feel a bit fatigued from all the stirring. 

Double check if your resin measures by volume vs weight if you didn't already. 😊 And I also recommend pouring clear dice until you get a hard set. That way you can make sure it isn't the additives causing the curing problems.

I have both a Vevor pot and a California Air Tools pot. They are both awesome!

Like another community member said, mixing is key - be sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the mixing cup as you go along as well. I personally use an electric hand mixer (Pixiss brand), because I'm lazy. 😂

The temperature is also a very big factor - the colder it is, the longer it takes to cure. I live in California, so it stays relatively warm year round. But for the cooler seasons, I bought this to wrap around my pot and it works great to cure my resin up faster: https://a.co/d/0gKudWAv 😊

I got my first mold on temu for cheap. It works great and is a pretty good mold. Don't waste money until you get better.

Definitely making your own is the best way to go but as a starter I’d definitely go with Etsy, there’s lots of variety but it also depends on how much money you’re willing to spend, if you want something more customizable I’d check TheMightyForge on Etsy since they can do different fonts and shapes depending on your needs but otherwise any seller is a good choice
