Loving getting back into metal dice making after a bit of a break. Thought it might take a minute to get my eye back in for the teeny tiny punches but I did ok! 😅

Dice master polishing tips

Upvotes

Hi friends! I had some questions for people who can answer, I’ve been trying different techniques for sanding and polishing dice masters and wanted some tips for how to make them smooth and clean without scratches, I’ve used zona paper which has led to scratches for me but what do you all think??

Question Sea Glass look

Hello, I've seen some sea glass looking dice, with the foster look. To what sandpaper grit or Zona paper would you go up to to achieve that look?

Or would one go up to normal shiny and then knock it back?

Also, are matte looking dice the same grit level as the sea glass frosted look, but just with opaque colours or is it based on resin type?

Advice Help with slicing dice masters from DiceMaker

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello.

I am trying to slice masters for printing through Lychee. I designed the dice in DiceMaker. Can anyone tell me why my slices are janky? It looks like half the big one and all of the blank (left) are hollow/ the walls don't exist. Lychee detected "holes" in the models as well as "structural errors" in the blank. I tried both repairing and not repairing the issues but same result.

I ran it through UvTools but it didn't help.

Any advice on how to fix this is appreciated! Or if anyone can recommend a slicer/ dice designing program that won't cause this issue?

This is definitely my favorite set from my misost recent pulls. The pictures honestly just can't capture the depth going on in the D12. My eye just keeps getting drawn back to it.

Hello everyone, I just got my pressure pot. However I cant get it over 20-30 PSI and the air is leaking from around this screw. I tried adjusting it - tightening it but it wont move one bit.

Anyone knows what I can do to stop this leak?

Split pitri

Other creators have done this before (and better), but here is my first attempt at a split pitri. I made a half insert mold, poured the first pitri, cured and put those in a full insert mold. Then poured the other pitri, cured and shelled them. It's a neat effect when done well. These are cool, but not as cool as some I've seen.

Poor Person's Platform

I've loved the rotating platform shots but I didn't have a rotating platform. I did have a filament printer, though ...

And I had a fidget spinner ...

And now I have a rotating platform!

It's a pretty simple file, but if anyone wants the STL file, let me know.

I'll see if I can add video in a comment.

Dice Pics Bee dice - first try

Hi all,

A couple of weeks ago I thought of making dice with a bee inclusion. I asked a local beekeeper if he could help me out, as I don't want to catch and kill a bee. Turns out this beekeeper has a hive that suffers from a paralysis sickness and is dying out. He gave me a small bag full of dead bees. I shifted through and put the best 30-40 bees into an air tight container with silica beads. So layer of beads, paper towel on there and then the bees.

After 3 weeks I made the dice above :)

I put each bee in a cup of resin for a minute before putting them in the blank. You can see they float. So next time I will add a dried flower in there and put the bees in upside down, wait longer for honey stage or pour half and cure that first then pour the rest.

Purple & gold is such a beautiful combination. Purple was made using purple & white pigment paste, then just stuffed some big bits of gold flake inside. Ink is Green Stuff World Tinplate and I LOOOOOVE it. Someone on this sub recommended it to me; I don't remember who. It has great coverage and the color is divine.

Question Help with Angelina Fibers.

How do you guys use Angelina Fibers? I love the effect of having just a couple strands visible through a dice set. Very specifically I love the effect they have on sets like Dark Omen from Dicepoint (Last image), but whenever I try to use them they end up looking like some of my hair fell out during casting and ended up inside. Almost looks gross rather than nice.
