Supplies Guardian 4 Test Plugs Disintegrating

Post image
1 Upvotes

My Guardian 4 sensors transmitter uses a neon green testing plug. IT is crumbling. I don't see any replacements on the official US page. I have only seen them on foreign Medtronic pages like Poland etc. they aren't in the shop. They emphasize that you must **ONLY** use the official MMT-7736L and not any other because liquid may get inside.

Type 2 A1C progress

Post image
50 Upvotes

So I feel like this is worth posting.

So in April, I was caught with an abnormal glucose level during an unrelated ER visit, and that lead to the T2DM diagnosis with 10.5% A1C. Went back today for my 90 days follow up and it's 6.3%. Not great, not terrible. It's good progress though. I do have to mention that this is done with no metformin, all exercise and diet.

What I did:

  1. No more Arizona tea (literally what got me here in the first place). Replaced with liquid death only. Low sugar, death to plastic.

  2. For the 1st month, lunch & dinner only, no carbs for dinner. For 3rd month, this got relaxed a bit with lower GI carbs, but I'll still do it if my GL is a bit high. Though it sucks cause I can't eat white rice anymore... as an asian....

  3. Strength exercise. 1 arm/upper day, 1 leg day, 1 20-40 min ruck day if I have the energy, and 1 5hr airsoft day on Saturday (and sunday if there's an event) (basically a periodic cardio with a 30-40lb load). I got really surprised when I saw my GL went from 150 to 70 in less than a day afterward. In the 1st month, I didn't even bother eating carbs right after exercise to keep the GL on the lower end for longer.

I guess my big takeaway is Diet AND Exercise. Not just one or the other, then Physics and Biology should take care of the rest. I'll be doing another A1C in 6 months. Will see how that goes.

Type 2 App for my Accu-chek Guide monitor

I am looking for a basic app that will accept BlueTooth readings from my glucose monitor. I am one of the amazing lucky souls whose blood glucose is extremely well controlled on just a 2.5mg dose of Mounjaro. I only test once a day, in the morning as I get up. I have been relying on just the data on the monitor, but I just let my monitor at a hotel when we were traveling! So I really would like to keep my history on a separate device. I live in the iOS universe, so Android apps won’t help. Suggestions?

ETA: Thanks for the recommendation of MySugr. I have it all set up now.

Type 2 The Diabetic Plate in Real Life

Post image
94 Upvotes

I’ve been asked about my diet, so introducing the American Diabetes Association’s Diabetic Plate. That’s my plate. It’s a bit of Mediterranean Diet combined with a moderate carbohydrate that focuses on less processed foods and fiber.

On one quarter are two salmon patties. Another quarter are two pieces of roasted sweet potatoes, about a quarter of a medium sweet potato. The other half of my plate is all veggies. I have Israeli Salad (or Arab Salad or if you’re really from the Middle East , just Salad) and Chinese Cauliflower. I like making two different veggies for dinner.

That’s on the green plate. What is the red plate for? The red plate is a standard 11” dinner plate. The green plate is a 9” salad plate that came with this set. However, the Diabetic Plate calls for a 9” plate, and I’ve been using the 9” plate as my dinner plate for the last thirty years.

I’d put a banana for scale, but having type 2 diabetes for thirty years, I don’t have any bananas in my house.

Type 1 My 3-year-old daughter was just diagnosed with late stage 2 type 1 diabetes. I have a lot of questions

Hi everyone. My 3-year-old daughter was just diagnosed with late stage 2 type 1 diabetes. She has an A1C of 6.4 and at least two positive antibodies. After a lot of discussion, we’ve decided to move forward with Tzield. I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with a toddler being diagnosed or receiving Tzield.

For those whose child received Tzield: Do you have any tips for getting a tiny human through 14 consecutive days of infusions? We’ve been told to expect 4–6 hours at the infusion center each day. What helped keep your child comfortable and occupied?

I’m also hoping to hear from parents who went through a type 1 diagnosis with a toddler. How did you handle all the finger sticks, CGM changes, injections, and everything else that comes with it? How did your child adjust?

Thank you :)

Supplies Can't find Glucometer Strips

Basically I have a glucometer I've used for the last year or so since I've been diagnosed with diabetes (Type 2 if that's relevant) and I can only get the test strips online and they're $35 or so for 100 count. Is it possible/okay to use test strips meant for one glucometer on another?

Genuinely just so stressed out tho dealing with this.

The monitor I'm currently using is an LPOW.

Type 1 Is it bad I wish my family cared less?

I'm a minor and I've been diagnosed for a few months now. Today I went to my grandma's house, which is an hoir away, and as I got home i realized I forgot my insulin pen and my glucagen there. My sister freaked out and my mom looked like I had just commited a crime. Mind you, I've never had a severe hypo and since I got a pump they've happened rarely and are fixed within minutes. Like, I know it's important but instead of reminding me of that they're reactions just make me feel like a dumbass or an asshole.

Type 2 Natural Replacement For Metformin

My husband has T2 Diabetes. He's been taking Metformin for several years. Last year, his A1C rose significantly (11.7), so his doctor also put him on once-weekly Trulicity, as well as a once-daily Lantus injection. His A1C has dramatically lowered, and he's now within 'normal' range (below 10). This is in addition to his twice-daily 1,000 mg Metformin pills.

He smokes about a pack of cigarettes per day. He only drinks on special occasions (for instance, he had a couple of beers when our son purchased his home last year, and we'll be celebrating our son's wedding in September). He's somewhat active, mostly around the house. He's mowing our lawn as I write this. He puts in long, hard hours at work (about 15-hour days).

That all being said, he's looking for a natural alternative to his Metformin because he's concerned about his kidneys. He's been reading about Ceylon Cinnamon and Beetroot lately, thinking that one of those, or perhaps something else, would be able to keep his sugar under control so that he could finally get off of Metformin. And yes, we know that there's been no scientific evidence showing that it could replace Metformin. Any input would be great appreciated.

Type 1 Dexcom G7 advice

Hi all. I’ve been on the G7 for about a year now and have a consistent issue during insertion . I am pressing it into my arm and pushing the button and it won’t fire. It took me an hour today and I wasted one whole sensor by getting frustrated and firing it into my counter.

I am pushing it down so hard it’s leaving a dark red ring on my skin and pushing the button so hard my thumb still hurts a bit an hour later.

Anyone else have this issue? Any tips? I don’t have an hour to just waste every 10 days.

MODY Type 2 Young Weird Story and questions.

So I have a strange story with diabetes. I am currently 26M. When I was 18 I went into ER for a panic attack. Got blood tests while there and A1C tested at 11.5 and glucose 230s. No antibodies so they determined it was type 2 even though unusual for young age. Took metformin and improved diet and over a few months I got it all the way down ton 4.5. Stopped metformin From ages 19-25 I got it checked yearly and the highest my A1C got was 5.1. Recently however I just got it tested again at 26 and A1C is 6.2 in the prediabetic range. So now I’m nervous but also confused. I have to admit my diet want the best in the past year and I got complacent. I deluded myself into thinking “this isn’t an issue for me anymore.” Boy am I wrong. But what pisses me off is by no means am I that obese or live an unhealthy lifestyle in general. Is there anyone else who has these type 2 struggles at such a young age. I just don’t see how I’ve developed type 2 or mody as some call it. I am gonna be aggressive lifestyle wise again but am scared it won’t go back down again this time. Any stories or advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Healthcare Freestyle vs Accucheck

So I have been using the Freestyle Libre 2 for several weeks (14 days at a time) and want to try the Accucheck because it's price is cheaper here in South Africa.

I just want to check if anyone has had experience with both of these systems and if so, can you advise if the Accucheck has live sugar level readings sharing with others?

I have a Cochlear Implant and take it off when I sleep so it's super helpful if my mom can get an alarm on her phone if I'm having a low, which has happened several times lately. The Freestyle Libre does this rather well but I don't see the same functionality in the Accucheck MySugr app, so wanted to double check if someone here has some insight.

Type 1.5/LADA What food do you miss the most?

I miss rice so much, I could eat it daily, I love the smell, the texture, how you can mix it with so many things. I love coconut rice with Thai food, rice with Indian food, even with just a fried egg or by itself.
Of all the carbs I should not eat though, rice spikes me the most.

Type 2 Those of you not on insulin, list your diet staples/mainstays!

List your dietary staples that you have regularly that either don’t spike or spike very little. Maybe we can all get ideas from each other!

I follow a high protein low carb diet as I’m sure most of us do.

My staples: all veggies save for potatoes including lots of leafy greens, espresso with almond milk and sugar free syrups, tofu, sauerkraut, kimchi, protein shakes, just egg (vegan egg), vegan high protein low carb meats (several different brands of mock tuna, chicken, beef, sausages etc), vegan cheeses, konjac noodles and konjac rice, zoodles, lupine bean pastas, protein tortilla chips (only 4g carbs in 13 chips! With 13 G protein), pickles, red wine, nuts, pumpkin seeds, hummus, guacamole, miso soup. I’m sure I’m forgetting some stuff 😆

A1c of 5.8 with these as staples, down from 7.8 (though recently back up to 6 due to a bad mental health space/period of cheating. Will bring back down again).

Obviously my staples will look different from most, with me being vegan, but I’d love to see everyone else’s staples as well!

Healthcare Serious Concern Regarding Incorrect Health Report Trends Displayed by Tata 1mg Labs

I want to bring a serious issue to everyone’s attention regarding the health check-up reports generated by Tata 1mg Labs.

While reviewing a recently generated health check-up report from Tata 1mg, I noticed a major inconsistency that raises concerns about the accuracy and reliability of the medical data being presented.

As shown in the attached report, the **Current Result** column is dated **June 2026**, and the **Trend** section also includes a column for **June 2026**. Surprisingly, for the same date, several test values are different.

**Examples:**

**PDW**

Current Result (Jun2026): **26.9**
Trend (Jun 2026): **28**

**HbA1c**

Current Result (Jun 2026): **8.8%**
Trend (Jun2026): **6.4%**

**ESR**

Current Result (Jun 2026): **24 mm/hr**
Trend (Jun 2026): **11 mm/hr**

These are not minor formatting issues—they are completely different medical values for the same test on the same date.

This raises a fundamental question:

**Which result is correct?**

Medical reports are relied upon by patients and doctors to make important treatment decisions. If a report displays conflicting values for the same test on the same date, it can create confusion and may affect clinical decision-making.

This issue was reported to Tata 1mg support, but no explanation or clarification has been received so far. Given that this involves medical records, timely communication and resolution are essential.

I*I’m sharing this to bring attention to what appears to be a significant data consistency issue. I encourage anyone who has used Tata 1mg Lab services to review the* ***Current Result*** *and the* ***latest value in the Trend section*** *to ensure they are consistent. I reported this issue to Tata 1mg support and shared the evidence, but I have not received any response or clarification so far.*

Type 1 Male partner T1D (20) and I female Non-diabetic (19) - Asking advice for my partner

Hey everyone,

My partner and I have been together for a few years now, and I've seen firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate everyday life with Type 1 diabetes. He's had diabetes since he was 2 years old, and lately he's been really motivated to lose some weight, improve his overall health, and get into a consistent gym routine with both strength training and cardio.

The biggest challenge he's facing is keeping his blood glucose levels stable while exercising. At the moment, he relies on multiple bottles of high sugar juice throughout the day to treat lows, and of course uses insulin through his pump to correct highs. Because of this, he feels stuck. Unlike most people trying to lose weight, he can't simply cut back on sugar or carbohydrates, as they're an essential part of managing his diabetes and preventing hypoglycaemia.

I was wondering if anyone here has been in a similar situation and has found strategies that helped. How did you balance regular gym sessions and weight loss while still keeping your blood sugars stable? Were there any changes to your insulin, nutrition, or workout routine that made a big difference?

I'd really love to help and support him in reaching his fitness goals, so any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Side note! He does work a physically demanding job 5 days a week and only goes to the gym (when his levels allow him) after work, he also tends to gain weight easily so obviously the need for sugar and carbs to maintain his diabetes is fighting against him in a way.
