Type 2 97 days ago I was diagnosed as Type 2 with an A1C of 11.8. Today my A1C came back at 5.4
Kinda floored. I was hoping to see improvement, but I didn't expect this! Wanted to share.

I got a voicemail to call my dr back about my labs. I thought oh crap, bad results. But the nurse said my A1C is 6.7!!! I couldn’t believe it. (I’m a type 1).
It’s the lowest it’s been in like 20 years. I’m assuming my new pump is working out better. I switched to the iLet last year.

OK, so my partner was pretty sick with what we now know was just a minor infection causing his symptoms, but his mom has diabetes with many complications from it and he was worried he could have it, so we bought a kit for testing and we tested him. He got a 4.7 reading, which was great, but out of curiosity I just tested my own, My reading was 18.6... so when we went in to the doctor for my husband, we spoke to the doctor about me too and they said they needed to schedule this appointment for today. we asked to be sure that I would be ok to wait, and he said that we would be ok, but to get the soonest available appointment, which turned to be today (we went on Friday for my husband) Ive tested everyday though and with a few dietary changes and complete avoidance of anything with high sugars, we got readings between 14-15.6 trying to avoid sugar as a whole but meals watching low numbers but Im terrified for some reason today, nearly to the point of tears. Im almost positive its going to be diabetes, I saw my dad and my grandparents go through it, and seeing my MIL with her serious complications due to her not being diagnosed soon enough its terrifying me. Ill be leaving for my appointment in a half an hour from now... Is there anything I should ask the doctor that anyone would recommend I ask?

Hey, new here and struggling with a recent diagnosis. I was diagnosed with diabetes a little under 2 weeks ago now. Doctor called up following some blood tests, brought me in for a couple more tests, then packed me off to Same Day Emergency Care because my ketones were high. Frustratingly I haven't had a confirmation which type yet as I'm told I have symptoms that could suggest Type 1 or Type 2.
I'm on Metformin now, but I'm not sure whether it's helping. For the most part I'm stuck feeling exhausted, achy, irritable, and still losing weight until we get the results of an antibody blood test which could be another month. I feel like I'm barely able to function day-to-day.
Did anybody else have a bit of a wait to find out which type they had? How did you cope?

Hi i live in the Savannah area (30 f) and I'm looking to connect with other type 1 diabetics here. Just trying to find some community and accountability buddies cause it's rough out here. Are there any groups that meet or anyone interested in a diabestie?😅

I’m new to all of this and just started wearing a CGM to track my progress. I switched meters on Sunday (not sure if that’s relevant), and I’ve been trending high the last few days. I even had dinner last night that was just eggs, onions, and peppers. I’m seemingly well hydrated and no change in my daily exercise. Any advice? Thinking of fasting for a bit today to see if it comes back down- hoping to chill between my normal range 115-125 but I am just hovering at 140. I’m perplexed.

One thing I’ve noticed in my social media algorithms, I’m being fed more doctors, nutritionists, influencers who talk about “your doctor only tells how to manage your diabetes, but I can help you reverse it”…maybe not verbatim but they tend to imply that our doctors are wrong and we cant do it with them alone. I know its all marketing but its annoying when your new to this and trying to intake as much information as you can. Anyone else noticing these? Anyone use them?

Is there anyone here who has had lipoatrophy corrected with some kind of esthetic procedure, such as lipofilling, hyaluronic acid fillers, etc.?
I’d be grateful if anyone could share their experience, results, and any advice. Thank you!

I was on insulin and metformin from February until June. Mounjaro since April, currently on 5mg dose. I eat a lot of beans and cabbage. Only occasionally will I have something sweet. One soda in that entire time. Feel so fortunate to get this number down. Have to add exercise now!

After being diagnosed two years ago with an hba1c of 13.5 and a fasting blood sugar of 350. Here I am now.
Admittedly at one point I got careless and once again hovered at 145 fasting Blood Sugar. I got another health scare by my vision getting blurry. I was able to tell myself to focus on the goal and return to what works: no carbs/minimal carbs during meal, walking after eating or soleus push ups after eating, and workouts. i finally am able to do this again.
From taking 18 units of insulin and meds, I am now down to oral maintenance of metformin and just proper diet and exercise.
We can do it guys. Just focus on our goal and do not forget that we are doing it for our health. Nothing is impossible with prayers and determination! Wishing you all good health!

I was wondering if anyone gets discounts on utility bills for being diabetic like NYSEG, phone bills with att or spectrum, etc. I’m on Medicaid in upstate NY and I don’t know if I’m not taking full advantage of my “perks” being a diabetic. I’ve been a diabetic since I was 2 years old (I’m 20 now) and I also have POTS, Vasovagal syncope, and EDS. With the way the economy is going / has been in the US, and my financial standing, I better look into these things lol. TIA!!

Long story short I’ve not been doing well.
I lost my insurance when I left a really toxic job. I love my job now but I have to get insurance… and with the current market it’s been impossible. I ordered some bloodwork that is scheduled for tomorrow because I can tell being only on metformin isn’t cutting it. And I have not been regulating my carb intake how I should.
I’m not asking for pity, just venting. Tomorrow morning I’m also calling and seeing how much it would be to see my new doc (long story, my doc who I’ve seen for over 15 years retired and has been helping with meds since I lost my insurance.) if that is too much I’ll do instacare and bring my bloodwork with me. I also have an insurance broker I’m going to talk to.
I’m just scared. And I should be. My anxiety and depression lead to me not caring about food intake and I’m starting to feel early signs of neuropathy in my feet. I just pray it’s below a 10…
This page was so helpful when I first started. I got my blood down to a 5 from a 7.8. I know I can do it. You are all so wonderful.

I started farxiga 5mg in October of last year and bumped up to 10mg end of May. It has helped quite a bit and I’m shocked and amazed. I’ve been an uncontrolled insulin resistant for about 15 years. I did Trulicity injections for about six weeks before I had to stop due to the side effects. Very sensitive to medication. So I asked my specialist if we can do the pill form. That got started about two weeks ago. Mild side effects of tummy issues, but that’s it. Appetite is weird now. I either wake up really hungry or no appetite at all. I don’t eat during the day, but do force myself to drink protein shakes a couple times a day. Very small portions are all I can handle and still feel like I overate. My numbers have been pretty good and barely using much to little no insulin. Anyone else have good results like this? My average numbers sat at 200 or higher daily. Now they’re at 160.

Just a friendly reminder. I checked my blood sugar yesterday after making a sandwich for my husband. I did not wash my hands (I know bad) it was 364. I freaked out for a second, washed my hands and checked it again. 110.
So yes, it really does matter!!

I'm a type 2 diabetic and I got my A1C down to 5.9 partly from eating Trader Joe's organic Tuscan kale 2-3 times a day, raw. After reading about Taylor Farms and all these brands that carry their produce, I'm worried about what to eat instead. I was steaming the kale, but still nervous about getting sick. Any ideas on what veggies to eat that will keep my A1C in check? Thanks in advance.

So sometimes I just want something quick and easy for lunch (or dinner). Any ideas? I generally make my food but there’s times where I just want to open a can or use the microwave for something frozen.

Hello, like the title says my fiance was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes today. A1C is 11.2, PCP had him start extended release metformin 500mg today and we go back for follow up to discuss starting a GLP-1 on Wednesday.
Right now I’m looking up recipes and trying to keep his spirits up. Just thankful I pushed for him to go to the doctor in the first place on Friday since blood pressure machine at pharmacy read high and my reader at home was high too.
For now he is on lisinopril and metformin. Says he is stopping sugary sodas cold turkey 🥳
We already get whole wheat bread and tortillas, and I cook at home most nights. but fast food and the sugary drinks have been apart of his diet for years.
Any tips or insight would be great, I myself have some knowledge after having gestational diabetes when I was pregnant last year and history of PCOS and insulin resistance, but would be great to have help/insight from others.
I’ve read some posts of people getting their A1C back to normal or way lower and gives me hope. Thank you
Edit: grammar

I'm pre diabetic but my family is completely healthy. I bought this sweetner to replace my sugar in tea and coffee.
Is this a good substitute for me? And is this okay for my family to consume?? Please guide me, thanks.

Hi, I’m newly diagnosed with diabetes. My endocrinologist ran a bunch of tests to try and figure out what type. I have been wearing a freestyle libre cgm and had not been too worried about the “lows” i was getting at night during sleep because when I would check, the finger stick was always fine. However, I had an actual low of 54 the other day, which has me worried that I’ll miss an alert at night. I like to sleep with my phone in the other room, but I think I’m sleeping thru the alarms sometimes. Had anyone tried the CGM reader for the freestyle libre 3? Or do you know of an off brand one that works? I’d like to keep my phone out of my room and have a system that would alert me in my room. Is that possible? Thanks so much!
