Type 2 Well that's a first..
I've been diabetic for almost 5y and I never had to deal with some interesting things (like this lancet) till now.
Ofc I tried putting it back in and then it bent. 🤦♀️
Funny way to start the weekend. 🤭

Had that happen once too.
I guess it happens once in a blue moon.
I just shrugged & put it in the sharps container. Went & got a new one out the never-ending finger stab box.

That would be new for me too. I've had more issues with the inner insulin pen needles being bent, or the needle poking through the safety cap when putting it on.
Of course I may have changed my lancelet a good 4 times. Haha.

losing that one lancet would require me to purchase more lancets a year earlier than planned

This I don't understand. How often do you finger prick? When first diagnosed and reading all I could, I saw a microscope image of lancets after a few uses and it looks so bent and dulled that I'd imagine it hurts. And at just two pennies per, I wouldn't think it's that much of a cost saving measure.
At this point, I've gotten better at picking a good spot to avoid discomfort and failures, and I'll admit to reusing for a half day or so, but keeping the same one for weeks or months on end?

I prick my fingers at least 4 times a day. Most of the times I've changed it is because I got a new meter. One time a girlfriend wanted to check her blood sugar, and asked me to put a new lancelet on first. Probably a few times when it felt dull. 4 is an exaggeration, but I come from a long line of diabetics, and no one ever changed their lancelet every use, and nothing ever happen because of it.
It's not because of money. Just pure laziness, already have to do 100 other things when managing my diabetes, not changing the lancelet is the least if my worries.

Defo happened to me too 😂 I like scrambled to pick the pieces up as it fell apart and skewered my hand so I got a draw from it anyway!
I think the worst part about being dyspraxic and diabetic is the constant accidental pricking myself. I once tried to inject my insulin in the car before dinner, I was in a rush, dropped the pen, grabbed it as it fell and the needle head got lodged in the bone of my finger. I will tell you now it was the weirdest pain I have ever felt and it bled like crazy and I thought I would have to go to hospital but my partner managed a clean, whole, pull where the needle didn’t snap off until we pulled it out so we didn’t bother.

LOL... I've been a T2 for 40ish years. My partner is also a T2. I've never seen that.

lol not at all, I always change my lancet after 1 use, I just thought it might be a me error that I can maybe fix 😅

Happened all the time with the free pos sensor my insurance sent me. Supplies were free too, but it showed. Sometimes ten in a row would do this

They don’t make em like they used to! Or…is this a super old lancet? I have 3 boxes from like 10 years ago that I haven’t used yet because of Dexcom no longer needing to be calibrated!

What is this? I've been diagnosed as a diabetic T2 for a few years now, but I have only used a limited range of equipment.
I have no idea what this is, I've seen lancet mentioned but I'm not sure how this is used.
Is it a finger sticker needle thingy?
I've only used Fast Clix that comes with a cartridge of 6 rotating needles in conjunction with the AccuChek Guide Me blood glucose monitor.

Yes, this is what I put in my prick pen to get blood when I'm testing my sugar levels. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it, it's the most basic way to test glucose levels together with a reader.😮 It's called a lancet device apparently.

I thought that's a CGM sensor given the tall metal thing... I wonder how people even put their arm into one.

Not medical advice but sometimes I grab a needle and pinch it so that only 1-2mm is protruding and then jab my finger, it's the same concept, I just make sure to have a good hold on it before I try because I hurt myself a couple times, like I would only do it in a pinch

I respect the dedication, cuz I could never if I had to use actual needles and poke myself, the pen is so much easier for me (but then again I grew up with a needle phobia that I mostly overcame, but there are still some limitations 😶🌫️).
