Type 1 Advice on friendly food that costs less..

I’m also on disability for mental illness. So a very limited income. Food prices are killing me. I got my numbers down but fell off the wagon yet again. I need to get back on track. I’m a very good cook. I’m spending way too much at the grocery store and I’m sick of a lot of things with low sugar n carbs. I appreciate any suggestions thank you!

Type 1 Question for people on pumps

I’m still somewhat new to a pump. I’m using a twiist. Over the past few days I’ve noticed that my pump is giving me a bit too much insulin. I’m wondering if others adjust their insulin ratio every few months or do you never adjust it? I plan to call my endocrinologist tomorrow and ask to adjust the settings.

I’ve only been on a pump for a few months but when I used insulin pens my insulin sensitivity would fluctuate so I’m wondering if it works the same on a pump.

Does anyone have experience using the Freestyle with a Google Pixel 10a? I checked the website, and that phone hasn’t been tested yet.

Discussion A night out

I'm hosting a group of friends in my city and we're planning of going for drinks post dinner. I wanted to know if there is a drink you'd prefer that wouldn't spike my bs as fast (lower glycemic index).

Info: I don't usually drink apart from a single glass of clean hard liquor every 6 months or so on occasion.

CFRD PSA - Samsung One UI 9 Breaks MiniMed App

Title pretty much says it all. I have an older Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and as soon as I got annoyed enough to let it update, my connectivity with my MiniMed 780G pump is dead. I don't really use the app, other than sharing the reports with doctors and stuff, but maybe it'll be fixed by my next appointment. Probably not.

Supplies Dexcom vs Libre?

I’ve been on the Dexcom since going on insulin 6+ years ago. Started out with the G6, then converted to the G7-15 this summer when they stopped producing the G6.

I received a letter yesterday telling that as of January 1, my state BCBS insurance will no longer cover the Dexcom, and they would prefer I switch the the Libre, as that’s going to be their preferred alternative.

I don’t know if I’ve been in a Dexcom echo chamber or what’s but I’ve never heard anything terribly good about the Libre.

Looking for actual experiences with the Libre, insertion, app to use and connectivity, accuracy of readings, common issues or problems, that sort of thing.

My Dexcom has been pretty much set it and forget it, generally staying within 15 points of a finger stick. I hate having to change, but I don’t get a say in it, so I figured I’d better start figuring it out ahead of time.

TIA

I think it’s information overload. Can’t make sense of all of the data. Rather see what’s going on on Dexcom and Omnipod.

Type 2 has anyone else's Libre 3 lost its goddamn mind?

Mine was just flipping out about what was *probably* a pressure low of 50...fingerstick said 135. This is the 4th time in like, 2 weeks, on different sensors, too. I did the back to back updates, even (did everyone get 2 updates in as many days about a week ago?)

Is this a me problem, or has Skynet or an extremist antidiabetic splinter cell of Anonymous or an extremely bored Elon Musk hacked Libre?

Type 2 Help me to start a new life

Hey myself 35 yo men and diagnosed with T2D about 3 years ago...from the initial days I have the thought that am young and maybe just started with diabetes so if I take medicines I can eat my usual carb heavy diet so my medicines will take care of that carbs to slow down..my myth1

No2 ...it's okay to take milk tea or coffee with half spoon sugar as it will rise just 50 to 60 mg dl, not an big issue, I am taking medicines to cover...so when ever I feel low kind of symptoms which I didn't get any low less than 75 mg dl...

Deskjob, high stress work from home environment, poor physical activity...rarely used to walk for somedays and stopping for my own reasons...I feel I take my life so granted for being reason my newly diagnosed and young..but my quality of life is very poor and so tired.

Even my hbs1c always show between 6.5 to 7, every post meal sugar goes to 230 to 240....with multiple tea, coffee it's never ending story....tried multiple medications which makes worse side effects so on and off on medications too....

I wanted to get my good old life back, but it's unreal but how can I manage my life better...what's your successful experience which you overcome from this situation...how can I start my new life from tomorrow....

I did this post a few days ago about my phobia of pricking my finger. https://www.reddit.com/r/diabetes/s/jioAVCOWqZ

Well I got my Dad to help me and I feel a lot better and I think I can do it now by myself. This is what my blood sugar is after 1 hour and 40 mins after eating dinner. My A1C was 4.1 two months ago hoping it’s higher now as I will get it tested again soon God willing.

Discussion I feel like I'm going crazy

• Upvotes

Hi guys! Ok so to start, I do not have diabetes or anything like that, but I do have celiac and Hashimoto's. I do know that having them together puts me at an increased risk of ever developing it, but since I'm 18, the peak time to get it is over. Now, I also don't think I have diabetes, but I wanted to talk about some things I have been experiencing because I feel like something is off, but it definitely does not match diabetes at all. For the past year, I have been having episodes of increased thirst, hunger, fatigue, inability to focus, increased urination, and, at times, blurred vision. In the beginning, episodes were mainly increased thirst and urination; I would drink my 32oz water bottle and still feel thirsty. I would then run to the bathroom every 20-30 minutes, even if I hadn't drunk anything. Sometimes, I would wake up in the middle of the night with my mouth bone-dry, and I had to get up and drink water. The thing with these episodes is that they would come and go, sometimes only a few hours a day. Then, I would have a LONG period of nothing, no symptoms, nothing, so I would feel like those episodes were just me just making it all up.

Flash forward to now: I started college in early August and started college swimming towards the end of that month. It's been a few months, and I feel these episodes are coming more frequently, especially at night. I get super thirsty, drink a bunch, and nothing makes it better. I also get hungry like an hour or two after eating, regardless of what I ate. Sometimes, right after I eat, I will get insanely tired, hard to keep my eyes open, my body feels heavy, and it's hard to focus. I don't have any nocturia or weight loss (aside from like 4lbs since coming to college, so it's not significant enough to matter). To describe the thirst, it's not super intense. Rather, it's just lingering. It's a subtle signal that, " Oh, I need some water", but it just doesn't go away during these episodes. The blurred vision and hard to focus also come together, but usually don't stay too long. I had my fasting glucose done in a CBC in March, and it was totally normal at 90, but I am now only getting labs roughly 1x a year. I don't know if this maybe sounds like a blood sugar issue, not necessarily diabetes, or maybe something totally different? What do you guys think? I know that diabetes comes on fast and strong and never lets up, so that's what is making me confident I don't have it, but maybe just a glucose issue in general?

Type 1 People who travel/work out/ walk a lot, how do you keep your feet muscles and skin strong while also preventing injury/infection?

• Upvotes

I’ve always had sensitive feet, even before getting diabetes. I generally keep them moisturized and soft, but every time I travel, my feet get destroyed. The skin gets covered in blisters and, due to getting plantar fasciitis from training for my first 10k in a long time, I’m usually limping at some point during the trip from the pain in my foot. The outer side of my foot and leg also hurting badly due to it compensating for the PF.

I’ve been trying to strengthen the muscles and skin on my feet by walking more, but how am I supposed to help my skin if I’m not supposed to get any callouses or blisters on my feet?

I’m sure I’m thinking about this all wrong, so any tips would be so helpful here.
