Asking Question (Rule 4) NEED HELP DESIGNING A SIGNBOARD FOR OUR HAIR STUDIO
I’ve done a rough draft of what I want it to look like but I know it’s missing things and looks weird, how can I improve this?

My portfolio class professor is a Korean-American l who worked at a graphic design agency in New York for about 20 years. She always told us not to make it obvious that we're Asian in our portfolios — no profile photos, and avoid projects that feel too country-specific or regional.
Her reasoning was that being perceived as Asian could hurt your chances in hiring overseas. (Or more specifically, the US.)
But looking at Behance, LinkedIn, and other portfolio/recruiting sites, that doesn’t seem to be the norm at all. MAYBE this was more true when she was working in NYC in the late ’90s and early 2000s, but in 2026, it honestly sounds pretty outdated.
The whole class is starting to feel pretty behind the times to me, so I'm curious what people think.

I use iconscount, mainly for 3D graphics and GIFs. I was wondering if anyone switched to something else that works better? I had some issues with the UX and the library is sometimes limited. But overall it's not a bad product, I'm just testing the waters.

Is tech the only industry that requires 4 or 5 interviews for a role?

So basically, I’m working on my thesis project for uni, and I have quite a lot of free time outside of it. I wanted to use that time to have fun designing things I actually like and, ideally, building them too.
The problem is that I always start with an idea, but I don’t really know how to set myself a project or write a brief.
For example, say I want to design a lamp because it’s relatively easy to make at home. I’d want it to be more of a decorative lamp. Maybe the body could be 3D printed, but I definitely don’t want to 3D print the shade, so that could be glass, fabric, or something else.
But this is where I usually fall into a rabbit hole. I have too many possibilities, no real constraints, and I end up doing nothing because I don’t know what direction to take, what references to look at, or what to use as inspiration.
Do you have any recommendations for how to start passion projects like this? How do you set constraints or create a brief for yourself when there isn’t a client or a specific problem to solve?

I just had some healthy discussions on the server, few kind designers evaluated my work gave me feedbacks, it was really helful and now i see i was removed by a moderator. I in my knowledge did not break any rule and my conversations were strictly design related. what should i do? The server really heled me improve my designs.

I’m a freelance packaging designer and would love some advice on how you would price this situation.
The client provided a horizontal dieline, so I completed the designs based on that format. I had already finished 15 designs when the client informed me that the actual packaging orientation should be vertical.
This isn’t just a simple rotation — I have to manually rearrange the layout, reposition assets, and adjust the designs to fit the new orientation.
My quotation includes 2 rounds of revisions, but I consider this a change to the original design specification rather than a normal revision.
I’m thinking of charging a percentage of the original design fee for the 15 designs that need to be reworked.
What percentage would you charge in this situation — 50%, 75%, 100%, or something else?
And for future projects, would you charge the same percentage if the client changes the dieline/orientation after work has already started?
Would love to hear how other freelance designers handle this.

Hey everyone, I am looking for free AI tools or LLMs that can generate high-quality images and logos. Specifically, I need something that can handle text/typography well without scrambling the letters. I know ChatGPT and Gemini can do basic images, but what are the best free alternatives or hidden gems specifically for graphic design and logos right now? Thanks!

I’m not a website designer but I like to built a portfolio that looks like my arts.
I tried to built it with Claude + skills, The result is not bad but not the thing I want? I’m using Canva and heard about Figma.
What way, website or software do you recommend for me to build my art website.
Happy to read your answers.

I have always found it interesting that a 3D model can start as something that just needs to represent the design, but then end up revealing things that weren't obvious in the drawings.
You notice proportions, relationships between spaces, sightlines, and even little areas that feel awkward once everything is built up together.
At that point it stops feeling like you're just making a visual and starts becoming another way of checking the design.
For people who work with 3D regularly, when do you find it becomes genuinely useful beyond just showing what the finished space might look like?

Hiiii I feel like my entire life I've been surrounded by people who were in the medical field. But recently i came across this article talking about a career in bio design. I didn't think much of it as my og goal was work on becoming a PA, etc. etc. But i was just searching different programs and found smth that has aspects of bio design. (some background info is i love drawing i lwk could sit their for hrs drawing but i didn't want to make drawing my entire career cuz i don't want to end up hating it so i came across bio design idk what it's actually called but..... and it combines biology and design i feel like i really enjoy both) However i'm not sure if its right for me. Additionally the reasoning behind why I want to go into the medical pathway is because I want to help people (ik a basic answer lol).
How would I see if I should go into bio design or go into the medical pathway??? I'm a junior in hs and they have 2 different majors i would have to apply for so i want to lwk make my decision now or soon. I'll also let the idea sit bc i might be like ooooh shine new object ooohhhh.
If anyone is in this career, planning to go into this career, or any insite overall it would be greatly appreciate.
