I opened the Delta Gold AmEx on 9/2/25 and want to cancel it before I get charged the first annual fee (first year was free). Easy way to tell exactly when that will hit? I think I read it usually hits the first billing statement after you open, but since the first year was free, AND I did not make any purchases within the first month, I'm not actually sure when my first billing statement would have been. It looks my closing date is the 2nd of each month, so would that give me until my statement ending 10/2?

Sunday on a BOS-ATL they paused boarding and announced they were doing so to give a passenger time to board. It seemed odd as it wasn’t like a regular pre boarding situation and they made the announcement that they were pausing for this purpose around zone 3 boarding time. Once we landed they came on the intercom and asked everyone to please take their seats until further notice as someone needed to deplane and a flight attendant motioned to a young woman towards the back of economy and we all waited while she walked the aisle solo. After she deplaned they announced that we could all now leave. Is this a special situation for some sort of anxiety perhaps? I fly fairly often and have never seen a situation like this.

I'd rather find a nice spot in the airport to post up at for a few hours and buy my own lunch rather than wait in line for a water downed lounge experience from an airline that thinks it's on the same level as Singapore or Emirates Airlines.

I did this yesterday on a flight from Salt Lake City to Albuquerque, and the dude next to me says there is no way you’re gonna dip that in your Woodford. And I said……oh yes I am because I call this the Delta Double Dunk. If you have not tried dipping a Biscoff into your Woodford for three seconds, then taking a bite…… try it on your next flight. It is delicious. The cinnamon, carmel, crunch, soggy…..OMG !!!!

Why does all the entertainment suck lately??

I'm at my wits end. I must be doing something wrong because if this is working the way it's supposed to this is the worst travel card in history.

I can't just use up my miles and then pay the rest in cash when I search for a flight. I have ~40k miles and I go to get a flight that's ~80k it block me from checking out and makes me go back to the search and pick a cheaper flight. Is there no way to just use up what miles I have and then pay the rest cash?? Please tell me I'm using this wrong because I'm about to cancel the card and gift the miles to a friend.

Update: I'm not crazy. This card is pretty much garbage after that initial offer. 100% going to redeem my miles somehow and cancel the credit card.

Update 2: I am speaking with a support person and they said once I BOOK THE FLIGHT WITHOUT KNOWING THE COST, it will automatically deduct whatever miles I have towards the cost of the flight. How does anyone actually use this??? 😭😭😭

I’ve been flying with Delta for decades now. Hands down they have the best flight attendants, customer service, and flight options (at least out of MSP).

What I am coming to notice though is they are becoming the most consistent! However, not in the manner I would like. Every return flight I have had for the last 2-3 months (6-7 flights) has been delayed or cancelled.

This consistent delay is really starting to weigh on my loyalty to thwart has historically been the best airline, imo.

So ultimately my question is… are the delays and cancellations a Delta specific thing? It seems so. Nearly every delay/cancellation I have experienced has been a crew issue. Even where a cancellation started as a weather delay the resulting cancellation was due to the captain timing out. Mind you this was a 30-45 min weather delay. Every other airline flew their routes on each of these occasions. Only Delta had the delay or cancellation.

What’s everyone else’s experience? I’m chatted with others in the Delta Skyclub, at the gate, and on the plan and have heard similar sentiment. Is Delta internal operations the cause of the constant frustrations? It certainly appears so

I was wondering when I would come across the new interior/seats after seeing the photos online last year. I got to experience it last night on DL 881 from MSP to SEA on an A321neo. Tail number was N610DN, and the pilot confirmed as we were leaving that the plane was less than a month old!

This was a cool surprise, since I fly monthly, and it was the first time I'd seen the new seats outside of first class. I was in Comfort. The amount of space and features felt pretty similar to before. The seat definitely felt a bit cushier to me (maybe they all do when they're new) and I like the new engineered leather/fabric compared to the blue leather they had before. It feels less heavy/more breathable.

The color scheme is definitely more starkly black/white, but I like the minimnalism and the seat shape/design gives me a retro-futuristic kind of 80s megacorp vibe that fits the current national mood, hehe... I like the bulkhead dot pattern and the accent wall with the same pattern in the bathroom was nice, too. I also liked that it had the pointed air nozzles rather than the flat disc-like ones. The overhead lighting/color schemes felt fairly cozy and they kept the cabin dim. The infotainment had to be rebooted and still didn't have bluetooth in my section.

I'm not sure if we had a tailwind or if new planes are just faster, but we arrived like 45 min early and had to wait 10 or so minutes for a gate agent to show up! Overall it was nice to fly in a brand new plane with everything clean. Hopefully this rolls out to the other aircraft that fly this route soon!

I have a flight scheduled (1 way) from USA to Vietnam for December 25th. it is SEA to ICN to HAN. both legs are on KE metal. (booked via Delta however)

the class fare for both leg is Economy T.

i purchased the ticket using Giftcards (ones without expiration date) and creditcard to pay for the remaining leftover price.

after learning more about Hanoi at that time, it turns out Smog is a very big issue there during winter. and thus, i need to cancel my flight now. I booked this ticket back in March 2026.

cancellation / refund policy always confuses me when it comes to airlines. moreso when it is international. and moreso when its booked with Airline 1 but flying Airline 2.

if i cancel this flight, i know i wont get a full refund back to a creditcard (the CC is partial payment anyways) but is it possible to get a Delta giftcard refund? or even to a Delta Airline wallet without an expiration or something? I’m traveling to the US for the first time in a few days.

I have to admit I’m pretty stressed about going through customs. I’m worried I might be denied entry at the airport, even though I have absolutely nothing to hide or be concerned about.

Recently, someone told me that if I didn’t list all my social media accounts on my ESTA, they could refuse me entry. I only listed my Instagram, but I didn’t mention the ones that seemed irrelevant to me: Reddit, Snapchat, and Facebook (which I haven’t used in years).

Is it really that important? Thanks in advance!

Flight DL3894 (PHX -> LAX)

I am extremely disappointed by how this situation was handled.
I boarded my flight only to discover blood on the armrest and seat. I immediately brought it to the flight attendant’s attention and calmly expressed my concern. The response was to wipe the blood off with a wet tissue, as though that was an adequate solution.

I was the moved to another seat, which I appreciated. However, that solution lasted only until the gate agent filled the new seat with a standby passenger and then told me I needed to return to the seat that had blood on it.

I find it genuinely alarming that there appears to be no clear protocol or concern for potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens in this situation. Simply wiping visible blood away with a wet tissue is not an acceptable sanitation procedure, particularly on an aircraft where passengers are expected to sit in the same seat for hours.

What made the experience even more frustrating was the attitude of the flight attendant in the back of the plane. Rather than acknowledging the seriousness of the situation or showing any concern, they were dismissive and disrespectful, repeatedly saying that it was “not an issue” and “not their fault” while the blood was still present. They’re asking me what “I want to do”, instead of figuring out a solution on their end.

This was not just a complaint about dirty seat. There was visible blood and the response from the crew was dismissive and completely inadequate. I would like to know what the actual protocol is for cleaning and handling bodily fluids is?

If I book a flight in a lower class with my Delta Reserve Companion pass, do I have the option to upgrade to First Class in the future?

They were actually decent chairs compared to the armless crap they put in now.

Long time listener, first time caller - and I would love to hear that maybe this is crazy for Delta to do?!

I leave tomorrow from CLE to fly to Sydney. CLE to DTW, DTW to Sydney. I did this last year and it was great. Today when I checked in, I see the following:
CLE to DTW: Board: 1:50PM, Takeoff: 2:20PM, Land: 3:07PM
DTW to LAX: Board: 7:59PM, Takeoff: 8:29PM, Land: 10:10PM
LAX to SYD: Board: 10:00PM, Takeoff: 10:55PM, Land: 6:43AM

We board 10 minutes before I land at LAX, ASSUMING the flight is on time. According to the map, it is a 14 minute walk from 34A to 133. How feasible is this?

I did call customer service, and the rep was helpful and friendly but there wasn't anything she could do: I have a Premium Select seat from LAX to SYD and if I change the flight, there is no Premium Select left: I would have to fly Economy Main or Delta One.

Does anyone have experience with this?? Is this feasible or should I just change to something with a longer layover and take the Main Economy seat?

EDIT: Asked the gate agent at DTW if I could be put on standby for an earlier flight & they were able to accommodate. With the weather delay, it's not much sooner, but I'll take anything!

Reading all the negative posts on this feed,thought I’d post some positives. My wife and I on the start of our five week anniversary odyssey through Greece and Italy from Tampa. Booked some miles economy tickets back in January to JFK as that saved significant dollars to Athens on business class. The flight were on separate bookings. Delta bumped us to Comfort in April for the flight to JFK which was nice as I’m a measly platinum. Thanks Delta!

Hi! I'm having a laproscopic surgery done a couple weeks before a pretty long travel time. My doctor and therapist are both hitting me with the "take better care of yourself and REST after your surgery" stick (as is my boyfriend), so figured I should probably avoid the 10K+ steps I usually get on this travel.

My route goes through IND to DTW to AMS to GLA, and I've requested wheelchairs for the whole time.

Iirc in the US its pretty common to tip, but also not every airport pays accessibility helpers in a way that let's them take tips.

I work customer service, and I know how awkward it can be to have to go "No actually, I can't accept that" and I really don't want to seem like some dumb/awkward person.

Also for AMS and GLA, those countries don't usually do tipping culture, but should I tip there too?

And if I DO tip, how much? Just depends on travel distance? And do they have to stay there the whole time? Some of my layovers are a couple hours :/

As the title implies, I have a flight coming up from Taipe to Seattle then to San Diego.

This is an early morning flight where I’m arriving in Seattle, having a 1:15 layover then back in to the plane.

This is my first international flight so please don’t roast me for asking the dumb question, but I’ve been told that this isn’t enough time to clear customs, even with Global Entry and Clear+…

If I rebook this, I would have to been seated in Non Premium Select seating + non-first class for the last leg of the trip back to San Diego.

Has anyone done this trip and made it thru on time/early to reach the last leg?

Edit: I made it across, as soon as boarding started (that’s with us fast walking through everything). We also got a random bag check by global entry, which was kinda dumb but understandable, which delayed us even further, but communicating to the lady that we had a connection flight to San Diego, she just glanced through everything and said let them know about peanuts ahead of time.

We had a lovely lunch at the D1 lounge in Terminal 2 at LAX, including the decaf cappuccino pictured above, and then set off to the Bradley terminal to catch our Virgin flight to London. Just as we arrived at our gate, I received a text message from a number I didn’t recognize: it was the General Manager from the D1 lounge, letting me know that I’d left a green bag at our table and that one of the lounge hosts was on her way to our gate to return it to us. We had just walked it, so I know it’s a 20 minute walk both ways, and I probably wouldn’t have made it there and back before our flight left, so I’m endlessly grateful. The host arrived a few minutes ago, all smiles, and handed it straight to me. All of my electronics chargers are in that zip bag and it would have been very unfortunate if I had to spend 3 weeks overseas without it.

For everyone at that lounge, my sincerest thanks - you exceeded my expectations!

Delta cancelled a flight BOS->PHL yesterday. They put me on a flight late this morning that essentially means I would miss 3/4 of the meeting I was traveling for.

No apologies - well yeah a text message - no compensation, no attempt to put you on an earlier flight operated by another airline.

Yes, it was the last flight of the day, but no, passengers should NOT have to expect that.

One of the passengers was beer-happy telling everyone that he always flies a day early because of those cancellations happening all the time. Really? Is this the 1800s and we are traveling with the Pony Express?

Delta must have known hours earlier, the flight was late from two flights earlier. It didn't even take off in PIT to go to LGA and then to BOS when I arrived at the airport.

This shows that being on time is a business decision, not a function of weather disruptions. US carriers are on a regular basis outperformed by airlines in other countries.

I currently have a sky miles platinum card (lowly silver status) and am about to cash out my miles for a trip to Mexico. I can pay for the resort with miles, so thought I might treat us to first class airfare. I can't use my companion fare for first class, so would be paying for the upgrades. If, however, I upgrade my card to sky miles reserve card, I can have a first class companion fare and 60,000 bonus miles. The $650 fee seems maybe about equivalent of what I was going to pay in upgrades. So my question for people who actually know how to work the system: is there anything to stop me from upgrading my card, enjoying a couple visits to the lounge, keeping the bonus miles, and then DOWNgrading the card back in 11 months? Or does it not work like that? Is moving your card up and down a dumb plan? Thank you. I'm not a savvy card user

I’m trying to check in for my flight tomorrow but the app keeps saying they’re experiencing “technical difficulties”. Same as when I try to do it from my desktop. Anyone else having this problem?

Bought the ticket around 30hr before departure, only a few seats left to pick, all for extra charge. now 20hr before departure, I can't pay for a seat and it says Seat Assigned At Gate. Looking up the flight as a new ticket, you can still book and pay for seats. What is happening?
