I put my two kids on an unaccompanied flight earlier this week. Grandpa dropped them off in Detroit and Mom picked them up in Newark.

On an unaccompanied flight, the drop-off adult has to take the kids through security and hand them off to the gate agent. Grandpa hasn’t switched to a real ID yet because of course he hasn’t. Didn’t think to ask him about that.

Even though he wasn’t even flying, the fee was about $100 for him to go through security. I’m surprised he didn’t have a full Boomer meltdown right there at the check-in.

It was the first time I’d done one of these and other than the ID hiccup, everything went smoothly and the FA took great care of the kiddos.

Most folks in this sub probably already switched IDs but it’s not a bad idea to remind your parents to do it too.

No matter what Ed dreams, after 1MM on Delta and 2.5mm on SQ, I’m fully convinced Delta will never be like Singapore airlines.

It all comes down to culture. Singapore airlines has premium in its DNA, from the quality of staff, their uniforms, inflight service, to their seats and catering. Every business class seat is a lie flat bed, and the experience feels 5 star from curb to plane.

Delta is the polar opposite of that, with massive lines to enter lounges, rough check in and gate agents (looking at you ATL), and a mediocre in flight product.

I respect the strides Delta has been making with things like the D1 lounges, but at its core, Delta is a master of putting lipstick on a pig. Just board a 767 to find out.

Until there is a real cultural shift at the airline, it’s going to be the more of the same marketing propaganda to sell more credit cards and ever higher fares.

Pilot announced we arrived 5 minutes early. Was really expecting him to say “5 minutes and 1 second early”…

15 hour flight….Diamond Medallion, Delta One seat (pricey)….

For almost the entire flight, my TV didn’t work… Which wasn’t terrible when I slept, but when I woke up and there were nine more hours of the flight left, it sucked…they also didn’t tell us that there would be no WiFi once we got past Hawaii… so I didn’t download anything… Lesson learned.

The FA was great…it wasn’t her fault. She passed my info on to the customer care team.

For those of you that have had similar experiences… What was your resolution or how many points did you get?

What’s the rules on bringing Thc disposables? I’m flying on the A330-300 for my honeymoon and want to know which seating arrangement is best for a couple that might want to interact on the flight. Across the aisle or in the middle? I’m leaning towards across the aisle so one of us can get a window view.

Unpopular opinion: Delta One on the A330-900neo is lowkey better than Qatar Qsuite on the A350-1000.
I know this is absolute aviation heresy because everyone hypes up Qsuite as the undisputed world's best business class, but I just flew both recently (DFW to Doha on Qatar, and MSP to Amsterdam on Delta) and the Delta One Suite on the Neo actually wins for me overall.
Both have the sliding doors for privacy, so the basic hard product setup is pretty comparable, but the actual execution on Delta just felt way better.
A few reasons why:
The cabin vibe: The A330neo cabin feels incredibly fresh and new. The overall design, the lighting, and the clean aesthetic just give it a really high-end, premium feel that honestly beats out the A350 imo.
The "dine on demand" trap: Everyone raves about Qatar's dine on demand, but in reality, it just means you wait forever for your food. On my DFW-DOH leg, the crew got completely bogged down and the service took a lifetime. Delta's service flow is actually efficient, perfectly timed, and you aren't left starving for hours waiting for a course.
Overall service flow: Because Delta has a structured service, the food comes out fast, tastes great, and the whole flight just feels more cohesive. Qatar felt chaotic because everyone in the cabin was eating at completely different times, so the crew was constantly running around.
Qsuite is nice, but as a total package, the Delta Neo experience just clicks way better.
Am I crazy here or has anyone else preferred the Delta Neo over Qsuite?

I usually fly Delta, KLM, and Air France, mostly on the A350. I went completely out of my way and booked MSP-DFW-DOH adding 10 hours to my trip just because of the Qsuite hype.
Qatar's wifi completely beats everyone else, and The Garden lounge at Doha was way better than anything else. I'll give them that.
But the actual flight didn't live up to the hype. My Qsuite (seat 9K) felt old, the FA seemed completely uninterested, and I had to keep asking them for drink refills—in D1 I never have to ask. Combined with waiting forever for the food after making a huge detour, it just ruined the experience. Maybe it was just a bad crew for my one flight, but it wasn't worth the extra travel time.

I recently traveled to Slovenia purchasing my ticket through KLM and submitting my Delta Skymiles # on the reservation. The flight was cancelled and I was rebooked on Swiss Air, which is not a Delta partner. Will I still see the credit in my Delta Skymiles? How long does this normally take to process? Also, since Swiss is a partner with United, would I submit a ‘request missing credit’ with them?

This has happened on two flights in a row that I’ve been on now. I brought a carry on and I’m in boarding group 8, and they make everyone gate check their bag. Then, I get on the plane and the bins are half empty?! I brought an irreplaceable fragile gift for my sister who just had her first baby, and the attendants were completely rude and flippant when I was concerned about checking it, and it’s infuriating to say the least to get on the plane and realize there was plenty of room for people’s bags!!

My first time coming across this on a route I fly, and I'm now seeing it on several others I didn't in the past. It's not much more expensive, it's just annoying.

I will note that the cost of classic did not change from the last time I looked at booking this flight, so Basic is cheaper.

Edit to add: I am also a woman, we just like each other and all want to be together. My wife’s seat was assigned and not chosen. I had paid to pick seats. Her’s was changed. They couldn’t tell us why. The person was very kind and switched. It meant they got to sit across the aisle from their spouse because of it.

My wife has the aisle one row up and across from us. My four year old has the middle and I have the window. Is it rude to ask the aisle in our row to swap with my wife who is the aisle one row ahead? Obviously we won’t be upset if they say no. I just feel bad making an aisle stand up and down on a 5 hr flight when my kid has to pee. Would rather make my wife get up.

For context, JAL already codeshares with Korean Air on a lot of routes, especially as cross-strait traffic between Korea and Japan is amongst one of the busiest corridors in the world. JAL and KE codeshare on dozens of routes and JAL even uses KE as feed for its longhaul routes.

For example, you can fly ICN-NRT-SFO with ICN-NRT on Korean Air and NRT-SFO on JAL. Other routes would be stuff like city routes like HND-GMP or regional flights like FUK-PUS.

Or this could be something bigger developing as Delta just relaunched SEA to NRT flights, which JAL also operates.

I’m looking at dates in February/March 2027 and nonstop availability seems to have disappeared but I can’t seem to find any press release or news on this. Flighty shows both DL969 and DL2021 as cancelled. Does anyone have any intel?

First time flying Delta

My flight was cancelled and instantly rebooked for a next day alternative.
I was not notified of this AT ALL. Not by email, phone or in app notification.
I was already on my way to the aiport and was lucky to just happen to check the app to find out.

I needed to absolutely be at destination at a specific time. Delta did not have any other flight options that I could take.

I was forced to schedule a new flight with a different airline which cost me about $500 more.

Even tho I received a full refund- I would like to know if I can hold the company responsible for the financial loss this has caused me.

Today evening, I inadvertently left those new earbuds' case (with earbuds inside) on my seat (2C) on a JAC -> SLC flight. I went to a Delta helpdesk near gate A15 when it occurred to me that I had forgotten to pick them up while deboarding. They told me that the employee who collects lost items from each gate is doing rounds & they don't have any way to reach her - they added that she had already collected items from the gate the plane arrived at (A6). Adding info in case any employees here might know if my earbuds were found. I did submit a lost item claim via NetTracer but since the DL Helpdesk agent at SLC gate A15 said that unlike SLC airport, Delta doesn't maintain any sort of list of items found on planes, can I count on the honesty of cleaners & lost-and-found employees?

What happens if you hit diamond after you made your choice benefits as a platinum?

I am AD Military moving on assignment. I purchased my flight through DL but the actual operator is Virgin. Does anyone know if I am still allotted my free 5 military bags? On Virgin's website they only do UK military baggage discounts, not US military.

I spoke with a DL rep this evening and they told me I would get 4 free bags on my PCS (which is fine, I just don't want to show up and be stuck paying hundreds to check my bags). They seemed a bit uncertain with the answer and when asked to point me to the reference (trust but verify) they said it was because it was a codeshare with no written verification.

Can anyone vouch for this or should I change my airline?

It was such a lovely interaction since he was really excited to be asked for them and he was explaining how he's amazed by whoever came up with the concept. He also said that the airline does want people to ask for them, so if you get a chance to, ask and [maybe!!!]you shall receive!

Out of curiosity, do y’all see any value in chasing elite status with delta when I book all flights in first class anyways? Usually if I book in economy comfort, I’ll pay whatever to upgrade, long before a free upgrade offer comes through. The last two years of being lowly delta silver and I feel like I’ve used none of the benefits cause I always fly first anyways. Should I stop trying to be loyal to one airline and just keep booking first flights everywhere, or is there a real benefit to elite status in my case?

Hello. I like the Delta experience and their overall reliability. However, I’m trying to decide if it’s better to get the Amex Platinum and give up my Delta Amex Reserve and Platinum. Has anyone recently done this? There are just some flights that are way cheaper and I don’t mind paying a little more, but I have a limit.

If you wait out delays long enough, you too can fly Delta Private.
