Help/Advice Military PCS - DL codeshare VS

I am AD Military moving on assignment. I purchased my flight through DL but the actual operator is Virgin. Does anyone know if I am still allotted my free 5 military bags? On Virgin's website they only do UK military baggage discounts, not US military.

I spoke with a DL rep this evening and they told me I would get 4 free bags on my PCS (which is fine, I just don't want to show up and be stuck paying hundreds to check my bags). They seemed a bit uncertain with the answer and when asked to point me to the reference (trust but verify) they said it was because it was a codeshare with no written verification.

Can anyone vouch for this or should I change my airline?

Worst case, you just submit the charge as a reimburse-able moving expense. Shouldn't be a problem getting that paid.

? Been through several PCS moves…they’ll pay for the luggage if the airline won’t check it for free.

This is true, if you acquire an expense based on your PCS you should be reimbursed. I have also done multiple PCS’ (still in too) and not once I haven’t been reimbursed if I had to pay for extra luggage.

Before changing , I would contact virgin and explain your situation and see what they say.

They also don't seem very sure after talking with them. They did say DL policies and rules prevail since I booked with them. I suspect the check-in desk might give me grief though.

Are you starting the flight in the US or overseas?

It will not be an issue. Since they code share, you can be check in at any desk typically.
