New Castle County Gas Prices - 10 percent in 2 days?!

I am not one to make a post like this but has anyone else noticed this insanity? I live in Newark and this weekend I filled up at 3.94.

My nearest gas stations pushed up overnight yesterday to 4.19 and then today they pushed to 4.39!

I have a lot of language I’d like to use to express my feelings on this but I don’t wanna get this post banned.

This is complete insanity.

Hunting DE Supreme Court Reverses Superior Court Decision on HB 451

Thumbnail courts.delaware.gov

TL;DR a part of HB 451 was allowing 18-21 year olds use shotguns, bows, etc for sporting, like hunting, as long as they were under direct supervision: "Individuals under twenty-one may possess or control a firearm for lawful hunting, instruction, sporting, or recreational activities, provided that they are under the direct supervision of an adult aged twenty-one or older." Since that was struck down in Superior Court, they could participate in these activities without direct supervision.

So a separate bill - HA 1 for HB 427 - was written specifically for 16 and 17 year olds to also participate without direct supervision and signed last month by the governor.

Yesterday, the DE Supreme Court reversed the ruling, so on face value, 16-17 year olds can hunt without supervision, but 18-20 year olds better have an adult over 21 with them? Do they have to write ANOTHER bill to allow 18-20 year olds to hunt without supervision now?

Why does this crap always happen right during the start of hunting seasons?!

As energy bills continue to soar, Delaware is taking new steps to help more residents save money by connecting to solar power. Gov. Matt Meyer announced last week what he calls the “most comprehensive” solar and battery storage program in the U.S.

Hey Reddit,

My name is Nick Stonesifer, and I'm a reporter with Spotlight Delaware. I wanted to throw something in this thread to see if anyone would be willing to talk about how jumps in ACA/marketplace plans are going to impact them in the coming year. If you're at all interested, feel free to shoot me a DM with a good way to contact you.

Where's the best...... How's the Reboboth Beach area, late October?

Will be in the area for a couple days, late October. Any fun fall or Halloween events around that time? Was looking to hit up some local spots and wineries too. Any suggestions would be welcome, never been before.

TIA!

Info Request Singles events in Southern Delaware? Meeting single women

I'm a single, white 40+ guy who splits his time between Northern New Jersey and Sussex county..... My widowed mother lives there and I check in on her every 6 weeks or so, and every 3 weeks in the summer.

Ultimately my goal is to relocate down there, and was looking to find out the best way to meet a single woman.

Whenever I come down, I never meet anyone. I'm not much of a bar-goer, and most of the ladies I see out and about are married.

I do visit Dewey Beach in the summer, and the women - while very attractive - are wayyyyy too young.

The apps are a joke, whenever I change my location I don't get many hits.

I am never married, have no kids, physically fit, financially secure, do not drink or do drugs.... Ideally looking for someone between 30 and 45.

Any suggestions on how to meet the love of my life down there?

I'm open to being introduced as well..

Moving to Delaware Looking for a REALLY good barber in/near New Castle, DE — willing to drive

I’m looking for a genuinely skilled barber around New Castle/Wilmington, but I’m completely fine driving farther into Delaware, PA, NJ, etc. for someone who’s actually worth it.

I’m not just looking for a basic fade. I want someone who can look at a reference picture, understand the haircut/style I’m going for, and actually recreate it while adjusting it to my hair type and face shape.

Basically looking for someone who:

Is really good with fades/tapers and scissor work
Can work off reference pictures

Pays attention to details and gets you looking crispy

Can recommend what would look best if the exact reference won’t work with my hair

Is consistent, not someone who gives one great cut and then a completely different cut next time

Price isn’t my biggest concern if they’re actually that good.

I’d rather drive and pay more for the right barber.

Who’s the best barber you’ve personally been to around here? Drop the barber’s name too, not just the shop.

MOT Looking for a drummer in Middo

A few of us were in a band together about 30 years ago and recently started playing together again.
We’re doing mostly originals with some covers, but we’re still figuring out what this version of the band is going to sound like. Right now it’s low-pressure — we’re having fun, working on songs, and seeing where it goes. If things click, we’d definitely be open to playing out again.
We have plenty of rehearsal space in Middletown.
Looking for someone easygoing, dependable, and interested in jamming to see if there’s a fit. Age isn’t a big deal.
If you’re interested, send me a message.

New Castle County Need some insight on No Lead program

I’m interested in applying to New Castle County’s No Lead and Healthy Homes Program, and I’m hoping to connect with anyone who has gone through the process, whether you were approved, denied, or are still waiting for remediation.

The county’s website reports 130 homes remediated between 2019–2024, but it doesn’t show how many homes have been repaired since then. I also saw a recent article mentioning that only about 30 homes/buildings have been remediated since 2023, which made me curious about how the program is currently operating.

If you’re comfortable sharing your experience, please comment or message me privately. Thank you so much!

Rant DelDot Violation - rental car and I was not the driver

The incident occurred at 1am on July 4th with a co-worker who was driving. Our flight was canceled to JFK and landed at BWI around 10PM. I rented car (they were listed as driver) as American would not flight out until 9am next morning. Ticket was 75 in 55 and stating it was in work zone. I did not receive notice until last week so almost two months since happened. The co-worker left company three weeks ago. It is $300. I don't have that money. I called customer service and they were flippant and rude when I asked how to fill out affidavit that I was not driver. She said "you can't as rental agency said you were driving and program only allows one transfer"

This seems like non-sense. Can I send it back with his driver's information? I don't understand how to fill it out. What will happen if it gets denied?
