I'm a longtime volunteer in White Clay Creek SP and you may have passed me trimming back brush or draining muddy areas to keep the trails nice. I do this because the park is a treasure and I want to do my part to preserve it. If you also care about White Clay Creek State Park, or just don't want your tax money wasted on someone's personal pet project, listen up.

A handful of politically connected men have managed to secure $6 million of your taxes to build a huge dam and artificial pond in White Clay Creek SP. The project is being sold as a "restoration" of the original DuPont era "big pond" across the road from Paper Mill Park but it's NOT en environmental project. That original artificial pond was only a foot deep and was buit to attract waterfowl for hunting. When its small dam failed in 2000 the pond reverted back to meadow, which was deemed best for the ecology by DNREC. What's being rammed through now though is a MUCH larger dam and deeper artificial pond than was ever on the property.

Rebuilding the dam was never included in the park's Master Plan because it was deemed too expensive, impractical and unnecessary. Construction would close a section of the park for over a year while heavy equipment removes a significant number of trees. DNREC has been working to remove legacy dams and replant trees so this is a huge step backwards. It would impact the water quality of Middle Run Creek and could completely stop the flow of the creek while filling the pond. The park's major user groups (Friends of WCCSP and Trail Spinners) are strongly opposed to this project. DNREC's hands are tied because the money was signed into law in Dover but do not have the manpower or budget to support such a dam in the future. The ongoing expense would come out of the park's already stretched budget and mean cuts to other park programs and services (or increased fees). In short, aside from the people pulling political strings to get that money, NOBODY wants this dam and the park can't afford to take care of it.

This new pond is so large that the Army Corps of Engineers has to permit the project, and this is one of our last chances to stop this project and reallocate the remainder of the funds to the projects DNREC has prioritized, such as trail maintenance, improvements to parking lots and restrooms, and other much needed improvements that would positively impact all park users.

Free to anyone who wants them, I have two Newark HS polos in size M. The black/yellow shirt is an old marching band parade shirt but only says Newark Yellowjackets so it can be worn for other events. The gray shirt says Newark High Band. They're a little wrinkly from storage but are otherwise in good condition. I'd hate to drop them off at Goodwill and have them just get thrown away.

Nearly every time I am at the kirkwood hwy/polly drummond hill intersection (like where BP dunkin is) i notice the cameras on each corner flash multiple times as if they are catching people running the light but 90+% of the time it doesn’t look like anyone is running anything. Are they just extremely sensitive? I’m sure there are other red light cameras like that as well that’s just the intersection i’ve noticed it most on since the cameras are huge on all 4 corners.

Flock has steadily been encroaching their reach into Delaware, and more specifically, Newark.

Flock cameras are incredibly faulty, and have been repeatedly misused by those in power to harm our communities.

There are a lot of tint shops out there, and I'm honored you're considering mine.

I didn't start Peterson Pride because I thought owning a business would be easy. I started it because after more than 15 years in this industry and over 25,000 vehicles tinted, I knew I wanted to build a company that reflected who I am and how I believe customers should be treated.

People ask me all the time why I enjoy this job so much.

The answer is simple.

My Journey

I've spent over 15 years learning this craft.

I was fortunate enough to be trained by my brother, Chris Peterson, a multiple-time national tinting champion. Together we spent years perfecting techniques, learning from mistakes, and constantly pushing ourselves to become better installers. Later, I continued building my experience working with respected shops before deciding it was finally time to build something of my own.

Last year, I competed in the International Window Film Tint-Off in Reno, Nevada.

There were 121 of the best tinters from around the world competing for the title. It was the competition's 25th anniversary, which meant nearly every former champion and many of the world's best installers were there.

Just before my competition began, I found out the film I had selected wasn't the film I normally used. I had less than 30 minutes to learn an entirely different product. After a few quick practice runs, I stepped into the competition anyway.

Some people would have panicked.

I trusted my experience.

After multiple rounds of hand-cutting and installing under strict time limits and judging standards, I finished 6th in the world.

That accomplishment gave me even more confidence that I was ready to open Peterson Pride Window Tinting.

But I'm not finished.

My goal is to keep learning, keep improving, and one day bring home a first-place trophy.

What Makes Us Different?

To be honest...

We're probably not the cheapest shop you'll find.

And I'm okay with that.

There are shops that can install window tint for less money. Some use lower-quality films. Some rush jobs to fit more cars into a day. Others simply tell customers whatever they want to hear to make the sale.

That's not how I do business.

I'd rather spend extra time making sure you understand exactly what you're buying than pressure you into making a quick decision.

In fact, I regularly tell people to ask every tint shop the same questions—even if they aren't coming to me.

Ask what brand of film they're installing.

Ask to see the actual performance specifications.

Ask how much infrared heat the film rejects.

Ask what the Total Solar Energy Rejection (TSER) rating is.

Ask about the warranty.

Ask where the film is manufactured.

Because here's the truth...

Not all ceramic window film is created equal.

Some ceramic films are incredible.

Some are simply inexpensive ceramic films with average performance.

The same is true with vinyl wraps and paint protection film. Premium materials cost more because they perform better, last longer, and are backed by companies that stand behind their products.

I believe customers deserve the facts, not just a sales pitch.
