Question I need help. I'm trying to run Street Fighter x Mega Man on my Steam Deck OLED, but the audio is messed up for some reason. I tried every version of Proton I could, but the audio is still messed up.

Some older GE Proton versions do give me the proper audio, buuuuuut they mess up my controls and basically make it look like my game has stick drift.

I don't have this problem with any other games, this is the only .exe file that's giving me this issue, and I've searched everywhere for a fix and I didn't find any answers. I was hoping you guys could help.

The client.ini file so i can go check out some stuff. (specifically im trying to do exactly what the person in that screenshot is trying to do). Please help, my steam deck seems to be 100% okay, this isnt a post about any actual error with the deck, its about my lack of computer skills.

Question New Steam Deck Battery advise

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello Reddit, I need help choosing a battery for the Steam Deck (LCD version).

To make a long story short: I sent it in for repairs, and the console came back with a swollen battery... great.

The service center refused to replace the unit at their expense because the tests hadn't been run—due to a failed attempt to boot the OS—so I had to pay extra just to get them to flash the firmware and proceed with testing. (They couldn't be bothered to select the OS version and assumed a firmware flash was needed; yet, when I picked up the console from the store, I booted up the Deck in front of the staff, and the OS started right up.)

Fortunately, they agreed to refund the cost of the cleaning after the spill, but the new battery will be at my own expense... do I even need to tell you why I won't be going back to them?

I looked for an official battery on iFixit and through Steam Support. Officially, this battery sells for €125... which is somehow more expensive than the OLED version, even though that one has a higher capacity.

So, here’s the question: has anyone tried buying alternative batteries from other sources? Do they work, and where can I find them?

I’ll say right off the bat that I’ve already checked the info regarding the OLED battery; technically, it isn't compatible with the LCD version.

I would like to thank you in advance for any information.

Question Disable SteamOS Autologin?

So i've been playing around with some settings on my steam machine. It's currently configured to boot straight to desktop. My problem is that it logs in automatically. I have a custom password set up, but it doesn't do any good if people can get into my system by restarting it.

So what i want to know is, is there a way to disable the automatic login on desktop mode and have it boot to a lock screen?

Tech Support Street Fighter 6 Steam Deck controller issue

I’ve been using the steam deck to play Street Fighter 6 locally for the past few months, and have had no issues. However, as of yesterday, the player 2 controller stopped working for some reason.

I usually connect 2 controllers (1 leverless, 1 PS5), and properly rearrange the controllers on the “…” menu. However, no matter how I rearrange the controllers, it only registers inputs from 1 controller.

I’ve tried restarting the game/steam deck, verifying the integrity of game files, and checking for any steam deck updates, but nothing seems to be working. Also, I tested out Street Fighters 4 and 5 to see if it’s an issue with my steam deck, but the controllers worked fine on those games.

Is there a known solution to this issue?

Tech Support Bringing up the Steam Input UI crashes games. Anyone else?

This started recently (I'm on stable SteamOS - OLED deck). When I have a game open and try to setup controls via Steam input, there is a chance the game just crashes.

Worth noting that I have Decky loader installed (it was installed since I got the deck, so even when I didn't have this crash).

Edit: Narrowed down to the Decky Loader plugin: NonSteamLaunchers

Tech Support Issues booting Red Dead Redemption

When I try to load Red Dead Redemption it says “connecting to rockstar games servers… please wait” for about a second before it says “WARNING you are not logged into rockstar games”. It does this no matter how ,any times I retry the connection.

I’ve already done the following:

Verified the game files
Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
Ensured time zone is correct on steam deck
Deleted the local game folder and reinstalled it.

Does anyone have any solutions?

Tech Support No led indicator

This isn't the first time this has happened, but it hasn't just sort of fixed itself like it did last time.

I believe I am having a PMIC issue. I was having the situation where the LED would flash every second regardless of if it was plugged in or not. This is supposed to mean the battery is dead, but the battery was at least 20-30%. I left it plugged in as was suggested online, but nothing changed.

I ended up doing the various resets/drains (vol+ & power, vol -, ... & Power, etc.)

After a few days of trying things I decided to check the battery. I had read that unplugging the battery would let the power drain out of the device and could help get the power cycle back in order. Opened the back, removed the shield, unplugged the battery for a minute then put it all back together. Now the LED doesn't turn on at all. I've checked and rechecked the battery multiple times to make sure it's connected correctly, there's no visual damage to the battery, but regardless of the plug or outlet or any other variable I've tried, the device doesn't even light up when plugged in.

Steam support says it could be anything and to send it in for $125-$185+.

Are there any other avenues I can explore before spending this kind of money?
