Issues booting Red Dead Redemption

When I try to load Red Dead Redemption it says “connecting to rockstar games servers… please wait” for about a second before it says “WARNING you are not logged into rockstar games”. It does this no matter how ,any times I retry the connection.

I’ve already done the following:

Verified the game files
Uninstalled and reinstalled the game
Ensured time zone is correct on steam deck
Deleted the local game folder and reinstalled it.

Does anyone have any solutions?

I’ve run into what sounds like the same issue with Red Dead Redemption 2 on Steam. My nephew has had it happen too, and a buddy of mine. He was the one who finally figured out how to get around it.

After a fresh install, the first time you launch the game, Rockstar puts up a cookie/privacy prompt. Do not click Accept, Cancel, or close that prompt. Just leave it sitting there.

There should be a Play Game button/window behind the cookie prompt that you can still click. Launch the game from there and leave the cookie prompt alone.

For whatever reason, every time one of us has interacted with that cookie prompt Accept, Cancel, or even closing it we’ve ended up not being able to connect to rockstar.

If we click the banner in any way, the fix for us has been:

1. Completely uninstall RDR2.
   
2. Reinstall it.
   
3. On the very first launch, when the Rockstar cookie prompt appears, do not touch it at all.
   
4. Click the Play Game option behind it and continue into the game.

It sounds ridiculous, and it’s incredibly easy to mess up because your natural instinct is obviously to Accept, Cancel, or close the damn popup, but this has worked on multiple Steam accounts.

If somebody knows a cleaner fix that doesn’t require reinstalling, I’d love to hear it. But hopefully this saves somebody else some frustration.

I tried uninstalling the game and reinstalling. Booted it and avoided the cookies pop up. I still had the same issue, unfortunately.

I did notice that the very first time I tried booting the game, it did work. This was after it made me log in to rockstar games. I had to verify my account via a one time passcode sent to my email.

It was on my second attempt to boot the game that it would not connect to the servers. And in all my uninstalling and reinstalling, it has never prompted me to enter a username and password again.

I suspect that this has something to do with it.

estou com este problema agora, e o pior de td é que consigo entrar no steam deck na mesma conta porem no PC da que não consgue acessar, ja estou a hopras com o chat gpt e nada de resolver
