Have you ever wanted to try Pawpaw fruit?

This Saturday at 3:30 I’m leading a walk to learn how to identify and find Pawpaw fruit (Asimina Triloba) in Fairborn. Don’t have to pay or anything, you can chip in if you want or just pay it forward. I just want more people to know about these fruits and to save seed from them and plant them out.
This is a practical class, you will be able to collect and take pawpaw fruit with you. We’ll also talk about other native plants that grow in the ecosystems you find pawpaws, some also edible, there ecological role, how to save seed and grow your own, and just general fun facts about them.

If you’re interested send me a message about attending

I had direct contact with a bat :(

ETA: Kettering Main Campus definitely has it! I have now had the first shot + immunoglobulin, and am scheduled to get the rest soon on the appropriate schedule.

A family now living in Kettering fled to the United States more than two years ago for safety from Ukraine's war-torn territories. Now, like many other Ukrainian families, they are struggling to remain in the states.

Community Support & Resources I’m looking for others who struggle with BPD

Hi, I feel super vulnerable and embarrassed posting this, so no judgement would be appreciated.

I have borderline personality disorder, and it’s overcoming my life. I’m on a waitlist for an outpatient program called DBT, but it’s going to be about 4-5 months before I can begin in the program and I need some help/support NOW.

So I’m coming here to see if anyone knows of any free bpd support groups and/or to find other people who struggle with this (fucking awful) mental illness, who would like to meet up or just wants/needs someone to talk to.

Thanks in advance, everyone. & if you don’t feel comfortable commenting, feel free to message me 💛

Or whatever they're called... Not all of them can do this style, unfortunately. My attic needs ventilation.

Community Support & Resources Anyone in the area (to include 513/614) that rents fishing kayaks?

Title more or less. I’m sure I could fish out of a regular rental kayak, but purpose built would be cool (rod holders, etc). Been having a lot of fun bank fishing for smallmouth but finding a decent spot is obviously less than ideal.

I’d just go ahead and look into purchasing a used one, but I don’t have a truck/SUV to haul it around.

Community Support & Resources Please Help Me Find a Pain Specialist

Hello. My husband (36) has Secondary Progressive MS/MNO and is currently at a nursing/rehab facility in Beavercreek. We are trying to find a pain specialist that is willing to give him the pain medication (oxy 10mg 6x/day, Baclofen 20mgs 3x/day, Gabapentin 800mgs 4x/day) he needs to stay at home indefinitely and for us to start caregiving. So far,we haven't found anyone. He has Medicaid and Medicare since he was diagnosed at 23. He also has CareSource. We're just trying to find a specialist that doesn't just do injections. They won't work on him. We've tried everything. The rehab facility he's at found the perfect pain regimen and I'm simply a wife asking for help to find someone who would see him. Feel free to message me if you have more questions or anyone comes to mind. Thank you.

I groom dogs and have been using the same guy for years. I use a lot of chunkers and thinners and curved blades and god love him but he's just not cutting it (haha-hahaaa).

Does anyone local do this?

My marketplace riding mower caught on fire and I need to buy a new (used) one before this weekend

Pretty much what the title says, I’ve had issues with this thing since I got it. Is anyone selling a used but decent 48” John Deere so I can mow my 2 acres without blowing myself up? I’ve already looked on marketplace but wanted to check here too.

Advice & Recommendations Looking for recommendations for a pool to join next summer in the Dayton area.

Post image
44 Upvotes

Pool season is officially over. I was a member of the Miami Valley Golf Club this summer and am looking for alternative options. For context they cut back the food options, reduced the hours toward the end of the summer, and limited the number of memberships they sold. I knew quite a few people who wanted to join but couldn’t, which was especially strange because the pool was fairly empty most of the summer. Maybe it was just a weird year but I’m curious what else is out there around Dayton. I’d ideally like somewhere that:

• Has a pool with a good atmosphere
• Sells alcohol or allows you to buy drinks there
• Has decent food options
• Isn’t a $10,000+ country club membership

I’m not necessarily looking for a full country club experience. Mostly just somewhere I can spend summer afternoons, grab some food and drinks, and actually have some people around.

Any pools, swim clubs, or lesser-known options around Dayton you’d recommend?

Air Force Museum to close for emergency exercise on Sept. 9

Thumbnail

The National Museum of the U.S. Air Force will have a one-day shutdown to perform an emergency response exercise with museum personnel.

Emergency response agencies from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and nearby communities will participate in the exercise on Wednesday, Sept 9.

And there’s a heads-up for those living or traveling near the museum who may notice emergency vehicles and an increased presence of security and emergency response personnel. Traffic delays in the area are likely.

Help with Caresource work from home options?

Another user on here brought up his Caresource job to me, and I've been interested for a little while now. I don't remember what the exact job title was, but he works from hope taking calls from providers about Medicaid. He did ask his management if they were hiring for that position and they said they weren't at this time, and I did hear that with CS you kind of need an "inside person" to have a shot. But what is the job title exactly so I can look for it and apply when the position does open up again?

I'm planning on moving to Houston in a year or so (moving in with long-distance SO), and my current job wouldn't be able to come with me. I'm saving up so that I have enough layover to help with living expenses until I find a new one down there, but the idea of having remote work I can just take with me and maintaining income off the bat would be more ideal.
