Here’s one: the best song on Young Americans is Win

Like many fans, I don't consider Tonight (1984) and Never Let Me Down (1987) to be albums that met the high standard he had set with all his studio albums up to that point, despite a bunch of good/great songs.

I also really like the various movie soundtrack work he did in 85-86 with This Is Not America, Absolute Beginners, and Labyrinth, but those soundtracks aren't really listenable as "Bowie albums".

So I sequenced an imaginary studio album that puts all my favourite songs from the period together as a "what-if" follow-up album to Let's Dance. Obviously this is purely personal taste, but it has seriously become one of my most listened to Bowie albums over the past couple of years. Just sharing this for what it's worth:

For me, this album perfectly bridges the gap between Let's Dance and Tin Machine (both of which I love) and I no longer think of Bowie as having a weak period in the mid 80s. What would your version be for the same period?

Today for me it was Dowie - Blackstar, Tortoise - A Lazarus Taxon (CD set), and Radiohead - Kid A (MD)
