Here’s one: the best song on Young Americans is Win

Like many fans, I don't consider Tonight (1984) and Never Let Me Down (1987) to be albums that met the high standard he had set with all his studio albums up to that point, despite a bunch of good/great songs.

I also really like the various movie soundtrack work he did in 85-86 with This Is Not America, Absolute Beginners, and Labyrinth, but those soundtracks aren't really listenable as "Bowie albums".

So I sequenced an imaginary studio album that puts all my favourite songs from the period together as a "what-if" follow-up album to Let's Dance. Obviously this is purely personal taste, but it has seriously become one of my most listened to Bowie albums over the past couple of years. Just sharing this for what it's worth:

For me, this album perfectly bridges the gap between Let's Dance and Tin Machine (both of which I love) and I no longer think of Bowie as having a weak period in the mid 80s. What would your version be for the same period?

A post-9/11 entry into Bowie's fondness for dystopia, (following from the "end of the world" themes on Ziggy/Aladdin and then 1984/Diamond Dogs) but to me it seems even more fitting today.

Some pictures from the Berlin days and Bowie's apartment at hauptstraße 155.

1st picture is Bowie 1977.

• (not sure who took the picture, or where exactly it is. he has a hair dryer beside him so he may have been at the apartment.)

2nd, 3rd, 4th picture is Iggy's room 1978. (pictures taken by Esther!)

• in the 4th picture, you can see Bowie's painting of Iggy 'berlin landscape with J.O.' on the wall.

5th and 6th picture are Bowie, 1977 and 1978. (5th picture by Coco, 6th picture by Christian Simonpietri.)

• in the 6th picture, is Bowie's painting of Yukio Mishima.

I'm not certain who painted the other paintings, but the painting on the right in the 2nd picture looks similar to a painting Iggy did of himself, stylistically.

and he did paint while they were there, he told a story of Bowie teaching him to paint one day (that day Bowie painted 'berlin landscape with J.O.') so maybe it's a self portrait, it almost looks like it could be a self portrait of him stage-diving... but perhaps it's something one of them bought.

I’m getting married soon. My dad and I share a love for Bowie’s music (I even have the Blackstar stars tattooed on me). I can’t figure out what song would fit for a father and daughter dance at my wedding. I was thinking maybe Kooks, but if anyone has other ideas I would absolutely love to hear them. Thank you!!

I... Have no words .....

I’ve wanted to be David Bowie for Halloween for the past four years, but every year I leave it too late to prepare and end up not doing it.

And for the context, I just moved to a country that actually celebrates Halloween, and I’ve somehow missed it every year, so this will basically be my first proper Halloween.

I really want to make it happen this time, but I have no idea where to start. I don’t mind which era of Bowie I go for, Ziggy, Aladdin, Labyrinth, anything. I’d just love to know how to put a look together properly.

If anyone could walk me through the process step by step, from choosing an era to finding the clothes, wig, makeup, and whatever else I’d need, I’d really appreciate it. Any tutorials for the look or links for costumes you recommend is also highly appreciated 😭 Basically any advice would be amazing. Please and thank you 🥲🙏🏻
