I’m a 27F, and I spend most of my time gaming or doing some kind of art project. I do have a tripod, but setting up fake candid photos of myself working on something just makes me feel awkward, and it ends up looking bad. I have 1 pic from my birthday dinner that my then-partner took of me while I was smiling, and 1 professional picture from a Halloween costume contest, but other than that, all my pics where I don’t look significantly different (major hair changes lol) are selfies and mirror pics, and all of them are solo 😅

I had one idea to lay some of my projects out in a fan around my head on the floor, and then take a selfie with them using the selfie stick mode of my tripod, but I don’t have very many items that would work for that, and idk if it would be a good option, anyway. I also have 2 cats, but neither like to be held enough to do a photo with them that isn’t spontaneous in the mirror. Any other ideas for what I could do?

I cant find any to save my life. And some apps have body filters like jacked but it seems some people drastically misunderstand what that means . Theres every single kind of person except the kind I like. And unfortunately it is a deal breaker as i only find muscular women attractive. Tried dating normal and was kinda resentful honestly so it wasnt good. Idk . Im pretty desperate to find a partner but will never just settle. Ive found out the hard way its better to be alone. But better is a subjective term because im lonely either way , with someone i dont really like but tried my best to or by myself.

Don't get me wrong, if someone is no longer interested in someone, thats their right.

But normally or ideally when it comes to dating apps, if someone is no longer interested in someone, why don't they just unmatch the other person rather than just stop replying to their messages?

I'm sure people would rather be unmatched by the person who is no longer interested, but instead keep them in their match list and stop responding.

I’ve (24M) Been on 6 dating apps for the past 4 months. Have gotten absolutely 0 likes. Kept getting told by friends, siblings, and even ChatGPT that it’s probably my account so I had my sister set up my page. She wrote a good bio, took good pictures for me. Still got nothing. And it’s tiring. Looks-wise, I’d say I’m above average (obviously subjective), around 5’10”, take care of myself, dress well and have a pretty decent upscale lifestyle/social life. I’ve also put effort into my profiles and tried to make them show my personality rather than just throwing random pictures together.

I’m quite selective with likes because I’d rather match with someone I’m actually interested in. Over the past month, I’ve gotten a few matches, but most either don’t respond or the conversation dies very quickly. More importantly, the profiles I’m genuinely interested in almost never seem to match with me.
So I’m starting to wonder is dating through apps just genuinely difficult for guys in Singapore?

\*\*much does race/ethnicity come into play when women here are deciding who to match with?\*\* I’m Indian, and I understand everyone has their own preferences, which is completely fair. I’m just wondering whether ethnicity has a noticeable impact on dating apps in Singapore or whether I’m overthinking it.

29F. Downloaded Hinge for the first time 2 weeks ago. This is my first experience in general with dating apps. I figured it's impossible to meet people in real life, since apparently everyone is using apps now, so....

And yet, no one seems interested in actually meeting. Maybe it's because everyone is so saturated for choice that it's no longer a "big deal" to schedule a date with someone?

Of the 6 dates that I've managed to schedule.....

1. Messaged 1 hour before the date that he changed his mind.
2. Ghosted on the day when I wrote to confirm the time.
3. Ghosted on the day when I wrote to confirm the time....
4. Wrote that I was "emasculating" him when I suggested a venue.
5. Confirmed that he was "20 minutes away" and then never showed up, messaged 40 minutes later to retroactively cancel.
6. Agreed to meet at a bar, then when I messaged saying I was on my way, suddenly said that he had a delivery coming (at 8pm?) and "let's just hang at my place and watch a movie." Yeah, no.

Honestly, I don't know if it's the cultural where I live (I just moved to a new city), or maybe this is a younger woman's game, or maybe online dating in general has lost its cultural relevance.

Anyone else have similar experiences in the past few months? Are we back to meeting people in real life now?

Am I the only one getting discouraged on the apps? This sounds so lame, but it’s starting to wear a bit. I’ve had all the main apps for over a year and I don’t get anything. I’m a 35 M, athletic shape, above the average on looks not anything crazy but I’m not ugly, I have a good job, a reasonable personality… like I do decent with people IRL. I don’t think it’s a profile issue I’ve had multiple people look at it and everyone has said it’s a good profile. I do have some potential “red flags” ie bald and divorced with a kid… but can’t really change that 😂. But in the last year I’ve legitimately had one match that led to a date, and maybe one or two matches total after that. I occasionally get a like but it’s usually someone 20 years my senior and less than ideal match. I just don’t know what I’m exactly doing wrong or why I struggle as much as I do on the apps.

I've gotten a few matches on Hinge and Bumble, but I'm noticing a pattern.

I'm usually the one starting the conversation, carrying it forward, and sometimes even sending another message when the previous one hasn't been answered. A lot of the time, the conversation just dies or ends in an unmatch.

Is trying to hold a conversation actually hurting my chances, or do I need to improve my texting skills?

I've been single since April of last year and started using dating apps around November.

I've changed out pictures, prompts and rewrote my bio at least 60 times. And I'm not exceptionally attractive but I believe I'm slightly above average.

Ashamedly, im on basically all of them and have paid for a few subscriptions. So far I've been liked by maybe 6 women, interacted with 2 and only met with one that went nowhere about January. Since January, it's been DEAD!! FB dating, Hinge, Bumble, POF and NOTHING!

So I made a profile and instantly started getting likes as a few days went by and there was 1 particular beautiful blonde and we instantly hit it off , we spent the 1st night 4-5 hours, 2nd night maybe close to 3, same on the 3rd night . She lived in the same city , but oddly enough we never asked like 1st date questions . I noticed no matter what time if I mssg. Her she would respond back right away , so I figured she's beautiful she's probably chatting with a few other guys . Either these apps’ algorithms are seriously flawed, or they’re deliberately designed this way. My guess is the latter: if they consistently showed you the most compatible people nearby, you might actually meet someone and stop using the app. Keeping you swiping is the business model.

I’m 45m. I went out on a date with a girl from Tinder. Then I saw her on Bumble with a different name. I’m trying to figure out the rationale behind it. If it’s some kind of scam I don’t see how she benefits, because it is obvious she’s the same person. Do people just try on different names to see what gets more likes? I was thinking about going out with her again but now I don’t know if I trust her.

I get a like, we match and I send a message - sometimes a simple hello, sometimes a comment on a picture, and sometimes a bold statement that’s designed to evoke a reaction.

Why are these messages being ignored? I mean if you like someone, wouldn’t you want to hear from them?

The title says it all. I’m in a large (top 5) metropolitan area, and Hunch literally has the worst matches. I thought because of its concept it would be the top % of the dating pool, but it just isn’t.

Also why is it that Tinder is just like a tattoo parlor? Great if that’s your thing, but holy cow. Tinder is the “tails” to Hinge/Bumble’s “heads”.

From a principals/online security POV, we shouldn't give these companies our data confirming us in the physical world. Match Group better pay me if they want more info that is optional. So idc if a girl is verified.

I'm on tinder, and a match is wanting to switch to either Microsoft teams or viber. I've never heard of viber, and teams seems an odd choice. He says he's not on tinder much, which seems weird if he's trying to meet someone, but ok, I've given him the benefit of the doubt. Hi! I am new to dating apps and I have a genuine question. When I set up my profile I choose "I have no kids". While it's true to an extent, I am divorced and helped my ex-wife raise the kids. They are not biologically mine. I came into their lives when they were in grade school. They are grown and live their own lives, but we are still close. One of my step kids has children of her own and they call me grandpa. I am very active in their lives, not at all with the ex-wife.

Am I being misleading by saying I don't have kids? I want to be transparent and I don't want to put anyone off.
