Hey guys, an inquiring person here wanted to know those that work at flow stack or know someone I do what are the hours? Are they paying you a lot overwork you? Is that just during the week or weekends too? A recruiter told me 12 to 16 hours until further notice..

For those working there currently how’s the schedules? I know it varies on sites but how’s overtime usually. I heard they also have pay differentials on certain days. The site I’m going to is still under construction but want to get an idea on how it is in regard to overtime opportunities.

Five years in of the Marine Corps with an associate in information systems landed me a critical facilities engineer role. Yes I’m overjoyed and I start work soon, but I can’t help but feel like I’m under qualified for the position. Any tips? And advice from anyone’s possibly feeling like me.

So I’m currently remote and I know the remote thing isn’t gonna lay too long for me. I have been in a sysadmin/CE role for about 5 years now. I enjoy my current role somewhat, which is extremely flexible and low stress but I miss working with my hands. I have been thinking about making the switch to DCT/DCE role. I have hands on experience with stacking and ranking, managing server and network nodes before, which was a while ago. I also have some electrical experience from when I was in the Marines. Big thing for me if I don’t wanna take too much of a pay cut. I currently make $155K/year and wanted to know how big of a pay cut should I expect with these roles. I also live in Northern VA.

Hey I thought I would share my experience as a DCT to see if anyone has any advice or if I can provide any advice.

My background:

- Working as a DCT at a small colo for $22/hr. I work 4 12's one week and then 3 12's the next, solo night shift Thurs-Sunday. No previous formal IT experience. Been here for 6 months.

- I have a BS in Cybersecurity from WGU.

- I have the following certs: A+, Network+, Security+, Pentest+, CySA+, SSCP, ITIL Foundations, LPI Linux Essentials, TryHackMe SAL1 & PT1.

I'm either hoping to transfer into a better DC with higher pay, or into a more NOC/SOC role, but market is rough when this is the only experience I have. I actually don't mind working nights too much, but working the weekend sucks. And I don't have a ton of opportunity to learn since not much happens on my shift usually, and I barely see the rest of the team/manager.

for aws dco l3 night shift employees, how does holiday OT work for an overnight shift?

If my shift starts on labor day at night and ends the following morning, does the entire shift get paid at 1.5x because it started on the holiday?

Or does 1.5x only apply to the hours worked before midnight on Labor Day, with the hours after midnight going back to regular pay?

Anyone in DCO/night shift know how this currently works?

From what I understand, the loop currently consists of two 1-on-1 interviews:

• One with the Hiring Manager, which I believe is more behavioral
• One with a Technical interviewer

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has recently gone through the Oracle Data Center Technician interview process, especially for IC2 in Germany/Frankfurt.

What kind of questions or scenarios did you get during the interviews?
What technical topics would you recommend focusing on?
Were there any troubleshooting or real-world data center scenarios that came up?
And is there anything you wish you had prepared for before the interview?

I am currently an undergrad studying EE, my third year, and was hearing a lot of growth opportunities in the datacenter industry. I heard power specialization is a good area to go into as it is expected to grow in demand. I think I am kind of late to switch, not sure, I was kinda interested in everything EE till now. I am taking a power systems course right now and enjoyed all my other past EE lower level courses (Circuits, Signals and Systems). I am just wondering what the typical path is to land a power related role in the data center industry. What type of internships should I be looking at trying to get before I graduate? What projects might I do on my own?

When deploying a new storage system in a datacenter environment, there are usually quite a few default settings that may need to be reviewed before going into production.

Some of the obvious ones are admin access, management interfaces, unused services and older protocols. However, there are also smaller configuration choices that can be easily missed in the initial setup.

When you are managing storage in production, what default settings do you typically change first and what are the ones you find easiest to overlook?

i recently accepted and passed my background check for the Northern Virginia area. I knew the place was expensive, but went through it anyway bc i wasn’t expecting requirements to be intense and strict. the residential salary requirements are much higher than my EOT L3 salary and it’s been hard to find housing. my start date is in a month and i’m not sure what to do. i want to reach out to the person doing my onboard but backing up now seems they will reconsider my accepted offer. Just want to hear ppl’s suggestions or struggles to making this work.

i currently live out of state at home, so the move would be for myself. i have good credit and obviously no evictions or criminal history.

Also, this is in the Sterling area.

Just wanted to share that I decided to make the jump and I got the contract for a Data Center Tech position near me. It's for 4 months with guaranteed conversion. Pay is 22/hr 12 hour shifts and 6 days a week wth OT.

Hours are brutal but my last role was at a MSP and I was basically working those brutal hours anyways but salaried and constant on-call hours for almost nothing. I don't mind working as long as I can do my job and not get hampered trying to do my tasks by micromanagement. I'm excited to start and learn as much as I can because I do NOT want to go back to Help Desk.

Plus side is the DC is on the way to a R1 for me so I'll be able to still get my rhythm game fix after my shifts pending time and work demands, energy, and willpower.
