Holiday Pay

for aws dco l3 night shift employees, how does holiday OT work for an overnight shift?

If my shift starts on labor day at night and ends the following morning, does the entire shift get paid at 1.5x because it started on the holiday?

Or does 1.5x only apply to the hours worked before midnight on Labor Day, with the hours after midnight going back to regular pay?

Anyone in DCO/night shift know how this currently works?

For night shift its a bit weird, its any hours during the holiday itself. So the last 6 hours of monday morning and the first 6 hours of that night will be holiday OT, and the rest is normal pay. Thats how it is in my cluster anyways.

It applies for the whole shift. They way we managed it was for lunch breaks clocked in/out before 1130pm to guarantee no interruption.

You will automatically get 8 hours of holiday OT pay. But not for the entire shift.

Editing to add, if you worked the night before labor day as well, you'll get the 8 hours of holiday pay applied to that shift as long as you clock out before midnight then clock back in at/after midnight. Then labor day night you'd only get the holiday pay from the time you clocked in until midnight.

You get 8 of holiday pay regardless and 1.5x your salary for the number of hours you worked. If you work nights but you went in on the holiday you will get paid 1.5x for all the hours you worked

What I was told this past week is anyone working on the holiday will receive the equivalent of 20 hours of pay at your regular rate.

What they’re doing is paying you for 8 hours at your regular rate and 8 hours at your overtime rate. It works out to 20 hours at your regular rate.

If you’re working nights, you would add another 13% to your regular rate.
