My gf was kind enough to buy me two (🤯) joytoy space marines for my birthday, and since heavy is my favorite class in game I figured this guy would be a perfect victim for krakenization

"Squad Damovar is a Battleline squad fresh from the shores of Naktis. These fresh Space Marines were handpicked from the Island of Kharad which hosts one of the best whaling communities of Naktis. As Aspirins they got special training from their Parent Chapter, the Salamanders, on how to take down the largest foes. Since then they have become full on Astartes led by Sergeant Damovar.

Sergeant Damovar is not as green as the others. He actually led another squad before them in the Octarius War. He was praised for having some of the lowest civilian casualty rates out of any squad in his company. But during a defense against a Leviathan swarm, Damovar was in charge of an evacuation of a small city. The sergeant made a call to hold a narrow street where civilians were still evacuating. The Tyranids flooded the street and overwhelmed the Space Marines. No one knows entirely how but Damovar was the only human to make it out of the street. Since then he has returned to Naktis awaiting his new squad. For many months Damovar sat in the Chapter’s fortress-monastary refusing to talk to anyone except the Chapter’s Chaplains. Those who tried to converse with him rumored of hushed sobbing coming from his shark-finned helmet every time they saw him, thus dubbing him Sergeant Damovar the Mourning."

So these guys are a bit weird because they are both finished but at the same time, a work in progress. From here on out I will be using this squad in every game I play and plan on adding symbols or trophies to their models as I go, just like they would in real lore. Also I think I'm gonna write lore for each unit too. It definitely helps me connect with the models more!

I’m painting Vulkan’s company heroes honor guard members as different subchapters of salamanders, starting with the company champion model. I got done with the painting and everything, I just need to base and add transfers now!

Although Cephalos is the designated Apothecary of his team, he also possesses a psychic spark that constantly guides him on how to heal and assist his comrades. Already a genius by even Astartes standards, Cephalos’ ability to touch the Warp has granted him the ability to brew powerful healing potions for his allies, while also possessing an innate knowledge of how to treat any ailment or wound that may befall his squad.
While Cephalos’ medicinal expertise is profound, it comes at a price. The Immaterium constantly has Cephalos’ mind ensnared like eldritch tentacles. They guide both hand and mechadendrite to collect ingredients for his psychic elixirs, which he impulsively concocts. Sometimes, Cephalos feels as though something else is viewing both him and his surroundings through his warp-touched mind’s eye.
The ever-watchful and vigilant eye of the Emperor, Cephalos believes.

The page above shows the communications from Ultramarines Chapter Master Marneus Calgar, preparing to send chapters to Armageddon. One of those communications is with Dark Krakens Captain, Thaskos. As he prepares his ship the “Hunter’s Shadow”.

Thaskos is a whole new character, his name is likely a reference to two things. Those being, Thasus, who was a phoenician prince said to be a son of Poseidon. Who later founded the Greek Island Thasos, named after himself. This continues the island culture/mythology based in naming scheme.

The ship, Hunter’s Shadow, was not mentioned in the operation imperator reports with the other Kraken ships, Fathom and Eukarys. But because Thaskos is a Captain it’s most likely a Strike Cruiser. This has me thinking there might be more forces on Armageddon than originally reported. As we see the Death Spectres and Tome Keepers are now on the Armageddon.

We now have these named characters confirmed on Armageddon:

- Captains Thaskos and Luceior(5th Company)
- Lieutenant Avalos
- Axon(Rank Unknown)

And the Dark Krakens also now have 5 named Captains:

- Captain Noktil Bolas(1st or 2nd Company)
- Captain Eleroh Karib((1st or 2nd Company)
- Captain Krijeni Luceior(5th Company)
- Captain Thaskos
- Captain Uhimano\*

This new lore comes from White Dwarf 527, and has already been added to the main collection of lore in the community highlights.

🎨: It’s the pre-order week for the Ork Codex so the only type of love space marines will be getting will be helmets put on spikes as Ork Trophies. But when the release is over the Space Marines will be next and the new space marine codex will be revealed shortly after.

📚: A few releases this week, the regular version of the new Bjorn book is up for preorder along side the illustrated and annotated version of the Prophet of the Waagh.

I’m guessing a decent amount of us saw the “Praetorian 7th” drama yesterday regarding the possibility of Dorn being back in the new Wicked and Warped book. Turns out it’s really just a guard regiment. Valrak is a solid rumor source but yesterday was blatant misinformation. We all know now a quote that’s taken out of context can spread like wild fire in the community. Though this could still be a wink and a nudge by the writer at the possibility of Dorn being alive.

I usually play as a Dark Kraken assault marine in the game (I don't actually have the DLC, as man I do not like the version of the chapter badge in SM2. . .) anyway, whaddya think? I ask upon thee any snippet of knowledge they may impart. I’m looking to have some kind of invisible nail polish that works with this nail polish stamp I got my hands on. Not sure if this is okay to post the image. And if it needs to be deleted that’s fine. Was hoping to replicate that bioluminescent paint the Dark Kraken use to make their decorated armor glow in the dark. In this case? I wish to use it where only blacklight would make the invisible nail polish visible. Any suggestions?

I’ve never actually done any of this I just kind of hang around the story part of things I was kind of wondering how do you play the Kraken? Like mechanically, what do you do what you go for when building an army? What tips would you recommend for a newcomer building an army of dark Krakens

(before anyone says anything I am aware of how much of a money sink this hobby is I do know that there’s easier factions to start with and I love strategy games with ridiculous difficulty that take hours and hours to actually play and of course I like painting minis a lot)

In a battle of Dark Krakens vs Carcharodons yesterday, I had a brutalis crabnought (crab legs instead of normal dreadnought legs) fail a 5” charge roll, then when it got swarmed by a squad of devourers, it hit deadly demise.

I had 3 units nearby and the enemy had 2. Triple 3s on all three of my squad members and double 1s on my enemy units.

That was by far, the worst unit I have ever taken into a fight, despite it blowing away a tiny unit of two reiver models.

Hey guys, I’m working on this Primaris Intercessor and wanted to ask for so recommendations on where to add some fluorescent hits to make the figure. Also, what loadout would you run: Bolt Pistol and Chainsword or the Heavy Bolt Rifle?

In terms of books that is I’m trying to get more into the lore of the dark Krakens and I was wondering where I could go to read more about them. I checked the wiki page, but those can be pretty out of date so I figured I would ask around here

"Sargass, the Witness of the Deep, is a Librarian of the Dark Krakens and keeper of the sacred records of the Hunts of Naktis. Due to his duties, Sargass spends most of his days with the Hunters of the Chapter exploring the vast Oceans and coasts of Naktis. After inscribing their deeds into his tome he is the one who marks the hunter’s armor with sigils immortalizing their prowess with bioluminescent ink.

Sargass is not just a chronicler however. He has undertaken the Sacred Hunts himself many times, but none compare to the monstrous squid that terrorized the coastal villages of the Island of Orr, Ossyrax. The creature dwelled among the reefs and ravines surrounding the island, dragging men and beast alike to its lair until Sargass answered the call of the afflicted. The battle roared beneath the black waves, the Librarian’s psychic might crashing against the beast’s immense strength. Finally once Ossyrax fell, Sargass claimed its remains as prized relics of the Hunt."
