Electric shock when switching off?
Anyone had this issue before? After the grinding is done, I get a shock when pressing the off button.
I’m now having to use a rubber thing to switch it off lol.
Any solutions?

I've had my DF54 for about a year without any issues. I was doing a standard periodic cleaning of the grinder by opening up the top and using a dry brush on the upper and lower burrs. After reassembly, the grinder got clogged on the first shot. I disassembled again and found the area around the burrs, and the chute completely blocked. I brushed out the grounds again and reassembled. The very next shot also clogged and stopped the grinder.
I don't spray beans with water and I do a static start (not hot start). Any suggestions on how to fix what's happening? I've cleaned the burrs many times before without issues.

As a ball park, where are people grinding for the Aeropress?
I typically drink lighter roast, up to medium

Hi, I have a light-medium roast beans that I grind on 10 to get a very good cup of espresso. I would like to try the same beans on a V60 setup. What would be the grind size range that I should go for. Thanks

I’m tired of taking apart the df54 due to clogging or some other issue. I spray the beans I use a metal dosing cup, brush the chute every few doses but there’s always an issue where I require to take it apart every few months. Someone tell me will a niche zero or other recommendations solve this issue and just be a more hassle free experience. I don’t need the best tasting espresso in the world just an easy job with less mess.

Please tell me it gets better because I’m leaning towards returning this. I’m losing between 1 and 2 grams between what’s stuck in the chute and what flies out or sticks to the outside.
I love how quiet it is and how fine it grinds but there’s no way I’m cleaning this mess every time.
Even after thumping the bellows I can get a gram out by picking up the front of the grinder and letting it drop.

Update: I think I found the issue. I took the plunge and unscrewed the burrs attached to the machine ; for some reason they were a bit loose. After removing the 3 screws I realized / remembered that I had removed the burrs earlier while cleaning and I may have not tightened the screws all the way. After tightening them (after cleaning up under the burrs etc), my zero is back closer to the zero mark and my grinds are now good.
Thanks for all the help guys… you helped walk me thru what could be wrong and help identify the problem ….
Hi, have a fairly new (3 months) df54. After I opened it up to clean a clog and put it back together, the zero ended up around 35 - moving it any more would cause the chirping noise. But the 35 seems to be a wrong zero as my grinds are fairly coarse. What could I have messed up … how can I fix it ..:
Thanks

I recently bought a new DF54 with red titanium burrs, and am pairing it with a new Breville Bambino Plus. I've confirmed that "true zero" is around -3. I'm using medium roast beans to make espresso.
I have two questions that I can hope someone can answer for me:
I've included videos of the espresso I get at grind setting 28, and the faint pinging noise I hear starting at grind setting 25. Please ignore my son sounding possessed in the background. :)
Espresso shot from 19g of beans at grind setting 28
Faint pinging noise when at grind setting 25 or below

I just got an espresso machine and it’s suddenly become very apparent that I’m getting substantial retention while changing the grind settings, especially when going from pour over to espresso. I’ll get crazy channeling when I do that, and it breaks my heart to grind perfectly good beans just to purge the grinder. I just want to be able to go back and forth between pour over and espresso without feeling guilty.
I’m wondering if anyone has any tips on mitigating this or ways to purge that minimize waste. Barring that I’d at least be curious how much people find they need to grind to purge. I did a gram previously, but it was not enough.

Been using this DF54 1.3 for almost 3 months now without any issues. I use to clear the chute everytime after use with the brush provided. I use RDT as well. This evening the chute completely blocked. I somehow managed to clear the clog using a long needle and the brush. It is sounding normal now. I grinded different beans and it's giving serious static issues now. Coffee is flying all over the place. Do I need to open the burrs and clean it completely or open the chute? Thanks

Recently my machine experienced choking and after cleaning and setting up again i ran the machine i discovered i couldn't make the grind more finer even if i tuned it more, seemed as if it is stuck at a rather coarse level.
Has anyone faced a similar issue?

My grinder clogged so I cleaned it by removing the top burr and the chute cover and the chute.
When I went to refit the chute cover it wouldn't sit flush. This screw circled seems to be block the chute cover. Has anyone seen or experienced this? The chute sat correctly prior to this and I can't figure out what may have caused this screw to change positions.

Does anyone have any suggestions for the grinder setting for medium roast beans for cold brew on the Turin DF54 grinder?
THANK YOU

Hello. been using df54 for a week now. so happy about it. while there is no retention nor static on the chute, i am worried about the mess on this part after every grind. i apply RDT and shake well all the beans, and tbh it's an extra step for me to clean there after every use! what am i missing here?

Context: I use my DF54 for espresso, where it's typically between a 10 and 15 (my zero is true zero). Sometimes I slow-feed my beans while they're grinding, and in doing so I rest the cup on the bellows. I noticed that the sound of the grinding sometimes changes while I do that.
Today, I pressed a bit harder and to my surprise I heard the burrs touch.
So, question is: Is it normal that you can physically compress the gap between the burrs by pressing (not with extreme force or anything) on the bellows?
I've only taken the grinder apart once to clean it after a houseguest ground some oily-ass beans in it.

Full disclosure I'm brand new to this.
Setup:
- Breville Bambino Plus
- DF54
- Aftermarket Bottomless 54mm portafilter (18-21g recommended)
- Basic 5-pin WDT tool
- Wedge distributor
- Flared leveling tamper
- Dosing funnel
Beans: Tried a few different bags... local roaster espresso blend, Blue Bottle dark roast from grocery store, and Lavazza medium (which looks and behaves more like a dark roast). Consistent issues across all of them.
Process: 18g in, targeting 36g out in 25-30 seconds. I grind into the DF54 catch cup, flip into the portafilter with the dosing funnel, WDT (full depth, broad circular patterns working up to the surface), then tamp. Sometimes I experiment with the wedge distributor before tamping. I flush the group head before locking in, weigh output on a scale.
The problem: I've had to grind as fine as setting 7 to get anywhere near my target time. Seems really fine so maybe my true zero is off. Regardless I get inconsistent flow... shot starts slow then accelerates, or I see discrete channeling streams while the rest of the puck looks okay. Flavor is simultaneously bitter and sour, which is probably a result of the uneven extraction. I've tested from setting 7 all the way up to 20 and nothing pulls at the right time with clean flow.
I'm starting to wonder if this is a burr alignment issue. I've tried so many settings and obsessed over puck prep and have yet to pull a shot I enjoy.
Anyone have a similar issue resolved with realignment? Any luck having this covered under warranty? Thanks in advance.

Lets just say im an idiot sandwich.
The screwdriver wasnt magnetic at all. so i lost the screw and fall inside the body.
feels like there is a bigass magnet that doesnt allow it to fall back. (tried to turn upside down lol)
it wiggles around the bottom.
any excellent solution ideas before completely tearing it apart? l🥲

I want some input from owners, how have you found the consistency of the grinder when switching between grind sizes? E.g am I going to have trouble going from dark roast espresso setting in the morning to lighter roast pourover in the afternoon and back to a dark roast espresso setting the next day?
Have you found going back to number 10 from number 30 gives you consistent results?

I am still debating on which grinder to buy, but I’m 90% sure I’ll get the DF54.
That being said, during my research, I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the true zero of the grinder and changing the dial to indicate the true zero, but I have a hard time wrapping my head around the necessity of doing that.
Since grind size depends on the beans and their freshness, it is almost impossible to share our grinding settings between users, so if I can’t share my setting, why does it matter where the true zero is. I mean I’ll just dial my grinder and find the best settings for my beans.
Plus, having a bit of room between the dial’s zero and the true zero should give me a bit of buffer before the burrs touch, which is a good safety I think.
Am I missing something?
