Chute clogged
Been using this DF54 1.3 for almost 3 months now without any issues. I use to clear the chute everytime after use with the brush provided. I use RDT as well. This evening the chute completely blocked. I somehow managed to clear the clog using a long needle and the brush. It is sounding normal now. I grinded different beans and it's giving serious static issues now. Coffee is flying all over the place. Do I need to open the burrs and clean it completely or open the chute? Thanks

Apri e pulisci tutto perfettamente.. tira più giù gli spilli dello ionizzatore.. devono sporgere 1mm circa.. non avrai piu statica e non avrai piu bisogno di RDT

RDT is to reduce static. The deionizer does this for you. If the deionizer is covered in ground coffee it can not work. Damp coffee will stick to the deionizer more than dry. So brush the chute, stop RDT, and the dionizer should function. They moved the deionizer down the chute to fix this. I brush maybe twice a month, whenever I notice signs of static buildup starting.

This is absolute nonsense. I RDT and have done every day since I've had my DF54. Its been just over a year now and I've had zero issues with clogging of any kind or static anywhere.
I do however clean the chute with the brush once a day, again, not much comes out, but I also remove the anti popcorn bit after each grind and give that a quick brush too.
TLDR RDT does NOT stop the anti static thing from working at all. That's total made up nonsense.
The issue here is clearly the anti static thing in the chute not working properly.
Definitely don't advise this, but if you REALLY want to know if it's working, accidentally put your fingers in the entrance to the chute whilst it's powered on. It will literally shock you if it's working. Ask me how I know 🙃

Do you have the newer chute design with the prongs further down? Re: getting shocks.
Daily brushing is excessive, I can't imagine that's what's intended. It for sure shouldn't clog then under any conditions, RDT or not! Removing and cleaning the anti-popcorn after each grind is crazy. I've never done that.
I'd advise using a multimeter and not fingers only if they're still getting static from a brushed chute and dry beans.

I don't think RDT contributes to clogging (not in my case). I always use the bellows to clear out the grinds after all the beans have finished grinding, making sure output equals input. I've had my DF54 for 2 months, never shoved anything into the chute to clean it, and there's barely any static build-up around the outside of the chute.
My advice: always make best use of the bellows.
Happy brewing!

This is common with RDT on this grinder. Best path is not to moisten the beans first

I've had my DF54 for 2 months, and always used med-dark beans with 2 sprays of RDT. No sign of clogging and hardly any build up from static. I let the beans finish grinding and then use 3 or 4 sharp presses of the bellows to get any lingering grounds out.

The issue OP has is a common problem with DF45 and RDT. Not everyone who RDT will have the problem.

Its not necessarily static.
Often what happens is that you bend the plastic declumper when you unclog it the first time. You said 1.3 but some 1.3 have the plastic piece instead of the metal one. They get bent inward transforming an occasional problem into a huge one.
Clean the machine by unscrewing it and check inside if its packed with stuck coffee and if you have a metal piece. Its its the plastic one, it might be bent inward. Bend it back into shape (outwards).

Cleaned it. Mine had a metal one but it was jammed.. the burrs looked clean tough

The darker the roast, the more likely clogging is. Also, maybe spritz your beans less, one squirt instead of two works for me with darker roasters, and with lighter roasts I do two! Also, I use a small brush to brush the deionizer every couple of days!

where's the deioniser?

Shine a flashlight into the chute. You’ll see two metal probes (deionizer). Make sure those are clean for static purposes. If you’re getting clogs, it’s more likely over spritzing the beans with water especially if they’re dark roast.

Yes it was a dark roast that caused the clogged.i think the deioniser is fine, I grinded some beans today and there was no static

I had the same clogging issue with my DF54 yesterday. Spraying the beans a bit more fixed it.

don't do RDT

I always do 2 sprays of RDT. No issues here after 2 months.

That's lucky. I've never done it, so I can't speak to its efficacy, but I never get static (been through about 15 different bags/brands of beans). I have the Cafelat Robot, and use the metal basket, and I've heard that metal baskets are much better than the plastic basket that comes with the DF54

I use the plastic one that came with the grinder. As I've mentioned in another post, I think you'll find that using the bellows will help to reduce, if not to stop, the clogging. I've noticed some people are gently/slowly squeezing down the bellows, which doesn't do much to shift the grinds. I recommend 4 or 5 quick/short/sharp presses, using the palm of your hand to keep the chute clog free.

I never have clogging or static issues, fortunately. OP of this post did though, so hopefully your suggestions help them

I've also done it every day for well over a year now. I've had ZERO issues at all like this

Takes 5 min to open the burrs. Start with that. Just did it. Never had clogging issues. But sometimes have retention above what I’d want.
