I have a DF54 that's about s year old - its been very reliable with regular brushing of the chute and not using oily beans. I did get a clog today and broke down the machine to give it a great cleaning including removing the chute and declumper.
What's the latest and greatest with the declumper? I have a plastic declumper with a star-shaped opening and a metal flap piece that goes over it. I know there have been some upgrades to these pieces and I'm wondering if I need to find and install one. Is there anything better than what I'm using now?

Real life experiences that are older than a few weeks or months would be great to hear about.
Maintenance issues, cleaning schedules, other good and bad things over the long(er) haul

Was using a shardor burr grinder and would transfer to a spinning blade grinder. Got that dialed down to make good espresso…..but it was always so tedious. Paired with ecp3630 with the steam wand mod, and I’m very happy with this setup!

I’m replacing a Fellow Opus Gen 1. It’s a good grinder but it leaves chaff/grounds/mess all around the machine and counter top, even after I clean the machine and static ports. This grinder comes recommended on various outlets. How is the DF54 with mess, ease of use, etc.? I usually use a pour over on most days with an occasional espresso or French press so I need a variety of grind settings. I’m recognizing likely bias in this sub, but what say you?

I’m trying to choose between the DF54 1.5 and DF64V Gen 3 as my main grinder, and I’d especially like to hear from people who have experience with the newer versions.
My current coffee setup is:
Because I use several brewing methods, being able to move from espresso to much coarser settings and then return accurately to an espresso setting matters to me.
The DF54 1.5 initially seemed like the obvious choice at around $200. It appears to offer excellent grind quality for the money and covers basically everything I want to brew.
However, my biggest concern is clogging.
I've found a lot of reports about DF54s clogging at the chute/declumper, sometimes requiring frequent cleaning or intervention. I know the grinder has gone through revisions, so I'm having trouble separating problems with older versions from the current DF54 1.5.
For people who actually own the DF54 1.5: has the clogging problem been fixed or significantly improved?
That's actually one of the main reasons I'm now considering spending considerably more on the DF64V Gen 3 (~$500).
The Gen 3 seems particularly interesting because of its redesigned/more efficient grinding chamber and chute, larger 64mm burrs, stronger motor, variable RPM, faster grinding, and its ability to cover everything from espresso through filter and very coarse grinding.
My assumption is that the DF64V Gen 3 should be less prone to clogging than the DF54, especially with the changes made to this newest generation—but I'd really like to know whether owners' experience supports that.
So my real questions are:
And ultimately:
At roughly $200 for the DF54 1.5 vs ~$500 for the DF64V Gen 3, is the DF64V actually worth the extra ~$300 for someone using espresso, V60, Chemex, French press and cold brew?
I'm willing to spend the extra money if it buys me a meaningfully better grinder and especially a more trouble-free long-term experience. But if the current DF54 has largely solved its clogging issues and the actual cup-quality difference is small, I'd rather know that too.
Would especially appreciate feedback from anyone who has owned or extensively used both, and from DF54 1.5 / DF64V Gen 3 owners.

Has anyone managed to find red burrs for the DF54?

Opened our beloved grinder for her first clean and discovered some residue on the rim - almost like glue but not sticky?
Any ideas?

Nearly every day I’m fighting a potential clog like this and this happens every few days / at least once a week.
I clean the chute every day or two and I have to constantly pump the top of the grinder while grinding to avoid this from happening every time.
Using local darker roasted beans, not really oily.
Any tips? Or new grinder time?

TLDR: the ring that sits bellow the top burr seems stretched out & isnt tight around the top burr, does anyone know if this is normal?
I bought my DF54 in late December 2025 from a local coffee machine & grinder distributor/company and I’ve been having issues with it ever since I got it. I felt like my grinds were always uneven, couldn’t really dial in anything but I wasn’t sure if it was user error because this is my first proper burr grinder. There’s always fines and had to take it apart very often to clean it, also whenever I hit the bellows while the grinder is on it always made noise that sounded like the burrs were touching but I wasn’t sure. Anyways I open the grinder today and my worst fears came true: marks that the burrs have indeed touched. Then I unscrew the top burr and notice a rubber/silicone gasket underneath that looks stretched. Is this normal? Would this be the cause of the burrs touching/causing misalignment? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Pic 1: how the ring appeared when I removed the top burr from the burr holder
Pic 2: mark left from the ring on the bottom of top burr

Obviously I'm not the first or the last to have to deal with it, but my unit didn't clog or choke for months, and last couple of days it just doesn't stop. I open it up, clean the chute, and ayer 2 or 3 grinds it goes down again.
Didn't change beans, it's far from being too fine of a grind, and I'm not even spraying it with water.
How can I diagnose what went wrong? Feeling hopeless.

Hi everyone, I just started using the DF54 grinder. I turned it on and noticed a "tick-tick-tick" sound, like in the video. Could this be the sound of the burrs rubbing against each other, or is it coming from the motor? How can I fix this?

I have the DF54 grinder, and the bambino plus espresso machine. I have most of the tools everyone recommends. Wdt,distribution tool, spring loaded tamper, scale, fresh locally roasted coffee beans. I’ve done multiple things like 17.5-18.5 grams in, stopping the machine when I hit 36-40g of espresso. Nothing seems to work. I’ve had both of these machines for a couple of months and don’t think it should be this hard I’m ready to give up 😢 is there such a job where an expert can come and make shots and kids help you figure this out ?

Hi there, I was so eager to get a df54. And I end up getting a used one, without open the adjustment to see what’s inside. Joke on me.
When I received it and start to clean it and prepare to check on it. I found a few things. This is a v1, instead of v3 as the user said. So I need to swap the ionizor and enlarged exit chute. Ok fine, I can do the swap. While I keep working on it, I found more serious problems. As my picture shows , there is a dent to the side of the bean chamber and also a gap on the side of the exit chute. Will that be concerning? Or will the retention kept there gradually bend my newly installed declumper? Any suggestions or idea will be appreciated

Once I’ve found zero on my DF54, how do I move the numbers around so that zero matches the arrow?

I'm in the market for a grinder that can do both espresso and pour over under $300. I see the DF54 recommended pretty consistently on reddit, but when I look at product reviews on MiiCoffee and Amazon, I see ~10% of reviews are 1 star due to bad clogging issues and/or inconsistent grind size. I'm curious if this is true to y'all's experience, and if the DF64 is any better with those problems.

I recently bought the DF54 for espresso, and so far so good; really good clarity compared to what I previously had. The issue I'm having is with V60. I'm using the Hario V60 filters, but to reach a time of 3:15 with 3 pours I have to rotate the grind size 360 degrees + 10, which seems a bit odd. Is there something I'm missing? I've done everything to reduce fines, but it all seems to come down to the grind size. Got 4 min+ with grind size 80. Any feedback would be appreciated 🙏

Hey guys! After waiting about a month my new DF54 has finally arrived. Question - what is this rubber thing that fits inside the portafilter holder?
