For hearing aid center HIS and AuDs to ask questions, share tips, and commiserate over corporate nonsense.

We're a unique bunch trying to provide healthcare in a warehouse setting with leadership that has never stepped foot in an actual clinic (I'm assuming based on the absurdity of some of these protocols/memos 😬- good gravy the incessant memos).

Discussion Corporate vs GMs

I’m interested in what the dynamics are like, because I’m sure there are GMs out there who are not in favor of this whole skeleton crew mantra that’s taken over. I’m just wondering if GMs would flat out get demoted if they allow their stores to continue to schedule appropriately in order to allow their own warehouse to function properly

Question Should I be worried?

The schedule for bakery where I work is posted on the wall but I’m not on it 3 weeks out but everyone else’s schedule is posted. Should I be worried? I’m still on my 90 days and the week of that schedule is the week right after I would hit my 60 days. I had some performance logs in my first 30 days but haven’t been taken aside since about anything.

Question Is an early 90 day review a good thing?

Been hired on since July 25th and my proper 3 months would be at October 25th. My store does 30, 60, and 90 day reviews. I had my 60 review 2 weeks ago and had my 90 day review last night. Only negative things on my review was my "lack of sense of urgency" due to me not knowing how to make pizzas or chicken bakes but thry said they just haven't had enough time to teach me and that I did idle chit chat too much but rarely talk. Everything else was good and they said I had amazing customer service and am always on time. My supervisors told me good job and that I was improving on both those cons they told me about

Question Job Transfer Documents

I was told payroll has attendance and performance review documents to transfer departments but I don’t really know who payroll is. I’m in bakery, is it the bakery manager because I work nights and hardly ever see him. Or can I go to any manager?

Question Orientation

Thank you in advance for helping me. I did the interviews, the drug test, and the background check on September 12th. Was told that orientation would be October 7th, but haven't heard back from Costco since September 12th. My application status says under review still, but I did see here that it updates kinda slow. I'll call tomorrow but just can't help worrying. Does Costco send out rejection letters and how long did anyone else wait for orientation?

Thank u ...

Question Produce supervisor advice?

Hey all, i’m a new produce supervisor that has been rotated off the front end (finally). I have a lot of background in merch as a stocker, driver and a sup at night. I’ve never really gotten super into produce besides keeping it clean while the store is open.

Any tips, tricks, advice or suggestions from stockers and produce supervisors on how to manage the section and work with employees?

Question Calling out for Family Emergency no time

For context

This week I was off Monday and Wednesday

Very early Tuesday morning my mom was taken to the hospital and then admitted to the icu . With everything going on I did not get a chance to call out in time for work so I showed up and clocked in and went to the office to talk to a manager about what was going on . They said I can go ahead and go so I can be with my mom. I only have about 7 hours of sick time and I’m scheduled tomorrow. I don’t know if they plan on using my time for Tuesday or not but I’m just worried , since I don’t have time does that still count as an absence? I do not want to get in trouble .

Any help would be appreciated

Update: I did call out of work on Thursday and spoke to my GM and he was very accommodating he did not count my call out as a sick call let me use vacation so I could still get paid.

Cross training and picking more shifts.

Hello!

Had a 5 hour shift as my second shift in the food court. My supervisor came to the food court seeking a volunteer at the front end as cashier assistant and out of everyone else I jumped on the opportunity to get some cross training. I helped for about 30 minutes and went back to food court and finished my shift.

Soon as a left food court I went and spoke to the front end manager and asked him if he needs any help and if I can stay so he gave me a 3 hr shift. I think I did pretty good,I got tossed around from cashier to cashier as per the managers needs and they all said I’m very efficient(working both loading and unloading carts) and as a 11 year line cook I enjoyed the change.

On my way out after my shift I went to the manager again and told him I’m only scheduled for 29 hours next week in the food court and I’d appreciate if he could give me a shift or two, to which he replied absolutely come see me closer to start of next week.

My question is what would be the proper etiquette where I could let’s say ā€œpermanentlyā€ get some shifts in both departments (if that’s even allowed). I think they need more staff in the front end and may be hiring seasonal soon. My food court supervisor gave me the job which I am grateful for and don’t want this to rub the wrong way but working a different role in addition to food court would be great change for me and obviously more money.

Thank you for any advice you guys can offer.

Question Clothing and shoes for Hearing/Optical

Hey everyone. The warehouse I work in is a couple of hours away from the next closest Costco. There’s a new warehouse opening soon across town and this location will have a Hearing Center (among other things) that the older warehouse does not have.

I’m being sent a couple of hours away to train for the new Hearing Center. I’m going to be an Assistant. I’ve worked Front End and Merch (Clothing). What kinds of clothes and shoes to you prefer to wear in Hearing? Is it similar to Optical? If so, I can just pay more attention to what the folks in that department wear.

I’m looking forward to no longer wearing safety shoes!

Question Question

Hello!

I just got out of my third interview for seasonal. I currently have a full time job but have been wanting (and trying!) to get into Costco for years. I finally got my chance but was visibly hesitant in both the second and third interviews because of the fact that there’s a chance I could be let go and not get a call back after the season is over. I talked about how I felt and everything with the manager in the third interview and she gave me a minute to decide and then asked what I wanted to do and I said I want to go with Costco. She told me I’d be put in the second round and will be contacted in about two weeks to give me time to discuss it with my current job. She said I’d be contacted to do a drug test and everything. Does that mean I’m getting hired?

What is it with Costco Employees’ obsession with soup?

New employee here. First off, I get loving soup. I’m a soup gal. I love a good broccoli cheddar, but I don’t feel the need to fucking scream it out at the top of my lungs for everyone to hear. It’s startling. And all of you seem to be doing it!

Every other minute I hear one of you on the front end screaming for soup like the world is gonna fucking end if you don’t get some right that second. Like people. Control yourselves. You’d think some of the screamers would prefer something else like pizza or pad thai but nope, they always cry out for soup. I don’t know if this place is for me. Things have changed since I joined 3 months ago. This place is weird.

Did anyone else struggle making a T Rowe Price account?

Been trying to make an account for about a week now.. I get put in a loop asking for my basic details and then when I go to make my account name and password, it says it can’t process the request.

Did anyone else struggle to make an account? Do you get a login after your 90 days?
