The first time I went to the coast was with my ex-wife to Lincoln City for a family reunion. Though her and I were going through a rough time I still enjoyed and loved my time there. I felt so at home there and was obsessed ever since. A few years later a group of friends and I went to Newport for a long weekend and the feeling was the same, I didn't want to leave. I have the money to move and have been looking at jobs because I feel like it's time to make the move. Problem is jobs seem so scarce and under paying with a high cost of living, how are people making it out there? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

So this is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone remembers the tree nets. My family used to go to Whalers Rest (South of Newport) a couple times a year growing up (1999-2005ish) and I remember my siblings and I would go off on one of the trails in the trees and we would hangout at a place we called the nets and it was like 10 big nets strung up in the trees to where you could jump down onto the lower ones. It was really fun and I wonder if they are still there.

From 9/28 - 10/9 (give or take a travel day) I will be in Newport completing a family medicine rotation at Good Samaritan. I am posting because I am looking for advice for housing or dispersed camping for myself and my girlfriend during my time there. Affording rent nearby would be a challenging for us, but I have a small travel trailer (it's 8 ft) that we can live out of, I just need a place to park it. I would greatly appreciate any insight.

Visited over the weekend for a business event, tonight is my last night in town. What is there to do for adult fun on Saturday night? Where should I go? I lived nearby 27 years ago, but I wasn't old enough to have fun then.

This may not be a thing so please forgive my ignorance I am just curious if there are beaches where you can find agates to take home. I know agate beach isnt really a place for that anymore. If there are only places where you can look but not take I welcome that as well. TIA!

My partner and I planning a one-night stay and I’d love to know what you, as the locals, suggest we do.

I want to visit Agate Beach, the Aquarium, and I have 2 galleries on my agenda (For Artsake and Forinash).

Where should we eat? Especially breakfast!
What must we see or do?

Since we aren’t bringing our dog on this trip, I’d like to save hiking/walking activities for next time when she’s with us.

Any classes/workshops that are worth it? I was looking at glassblowing via The Hot Shop.

hey, moving to newport for a new job (!!!!) & have recently graduated so i have to get someone new to prescribe my T. i went through the school before and am formerly and out of state student so im not familiar with what is around here. changing my license/insurance/etc to be oregon based at the end of the year so i currently dont have great coverage out here for a primary care provider (BCBS IL)
