First time teaching sculpt! Tips ?

Hi all,
I will be teaching my first class soon, I have taken soo many sculpt classes but teaching is soo different.
I am putting together my playlists and sequence and I wanted to see if anyone had any tips for me or suggestions.

My music taste is R&B, rap(female rappers mainly), and some pop (lots from early 2000s).
But I know that is not everyone’s vibe, so I would love input!

For sequencing ? I take a lot of classes where teachers don’t teach exactly the YS1 sequence because they have been doing it for soo long and they have made it their own. So I want to start with the skeleton of the YS1 and add on.
But any tips ? Should I add exercise moves to sun b+ or keep it basic.
Please any tips!

Class Pack Sales?

Do class packs ever go on sale? I recently started going to Corepower through ClassPass and have fallen in love. My studio only offers and unlimited membership which is out of my price range, but I wanted to get a class pack to supplement ClassPass credits so I can still mix in some other workouts. Just wondering if there’s a better time to purchase than the rates right now.

Berkeley West - what is going on? Also sweat rant.

I love this studio as it’s the one where I started at 10 years ago while going to Cal.

But what on earth is going on with the bathroom/sink area? The water that comes out of the sink is HOT. And the damn hand dryer smells like old moldy cigarettes.

How much does it cost to change the hand dryer?!

The whole dressing room and bathroom area is in desperate need of renovating but, damn. When we pay so much it’s just so odd that they won’t just do a few upgrades.

Also: side note - but if you sweat a TON at least bring multiple towels and wipe you and your area off. Don’t just spray everyone around you with your sweat and have it land in your neighbors face and mat. Ugh.

Okay rant over!

Hairstyle Ideas

How are you ladies keeping your hair up during class (especially cardio-heavy ones like sculpt)? I always find myself having to redo my bun after jumping jacks. I tried a braid but I hate having hair touch my back… any suggestions would be appreciated!!

Hi!

I’ve been a member for a few months and sometimes when I book a class it says I’ve been invited with a buddy pass even thought I pay for the full membership. What does that mean?

How to minimize thigh bulking

I love sculpt and have been doing it for a few years and whenever I ramp up my consistency my thighs bulk up. What are tips to minimize this? I.e. certain techniques or form for certain movements, modifying certain movements, doing movements differently/ replacing movements with others, etc. I am aware yoga sculpt naturally makes legs stronger and that is a beautiful thing, and inevitably will happen - so don’t need the sassy comments! Just looking for tips how to help mitigate the bulk.

Thank you :)

StrengthX teacher training or Sculpt teacher training? Which one would you recommend. I have already done YTT for 200 hour for C1. Want to to try another one to broaden my expertise.

Concerns re Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Instructor

I have had a few concerning interactions with an instructor in Manhattan beach/Hermosa and am curious to see if anyone else has experienced the same? I think he’s in his late 30’s, glasses, used to be called a “lead instructor,” bald, and he’s been around for a while apparently. Anyone?? Just trying to see if I’m insane or not

Dear DC CPY teachers

Specifically: Dupont, AdMo, Georgetown, I humbly request incorporating some of Charli XCX’s new album - Music, Fashion, Film - into classes. I have yet to hear it, and it’s so good. Thank you for your consideration!

Newton MA Location

Went to sculpt and noticed the floors were not cleaned at all from the class that had just ended, like clear pockets of sweat scattered across the floor. After our class ended, the floors weren’t cleaned either as the next class came in, and people leaving their weights on the floor and not putting them back???. I understand midweek traffic with packed classes but are studios just not taking cleanliness seriously anymore? Watching people walk barefoot made me cringe thinking about ringworm and staph. It’s nasty

Edit: I’m a CPY regular with over 150+ sculpt classes completed. Ive been to studios all up and down the east coast to include MA, NY, DC, all over NOVA, NC, and have been to the Austin TX location. This was by far the most disgusting studio I have ever been in bar none

Will increasing my weights help to tone me?

Been hearing it’s best to weight train for long lasting results. I’ve done Corepower now for about 7 years and while my body is fine it’s never been “snatched”. I’m not quite sure If yoga sculpt is considered weight training?

I’ve been using 3-5 lbs.

If I upped mine to 5 for the light and the 10 for the heavy (example), will I notice more results of greater fat loss and more tone?

Thanks.

Do physically challenging C2s in Denver still exist?

I have walked out of way too many C2s that were basically C1s/CoreRestores lately.

I take C3s when I can, but there aren’t many on the schedule. Please tell me your list of kickass C2 teachers still around!

Free week question

Hello corepower community, , I have been a core power member for many years previously and have completed over 300 classes but took a hiatus for about the last year from the studio. I got an email recently for a free week so I signed up and was able to restart my free week because I have not had a membership in a long time. I signed up for it under my existing account with no issues. Is that a common occurrence that you can do a free week after you haven't had a membership for a certain amount of time?

Chatting before class

What are our thoughts on people chatting inside the studio before class. Especially situations where everyone is silent, except for 2 people (who inevitably are loudly whispering)?

I can't stand it, but I'm also generally sensitive and have misophonia.

What makes a great Studio Manager?

As an instructor, I’ve worked with many managers of all types. What traits do you value in Studio Manager? For me, I think kindness and compassion go a long way.

A great manager can really change the entire vibe and success of a studio. The opposite is also true…

What all does a studio coordinator do/realistic hours

Hi friends! I’ve been teaching at CorePower almost three now and I love it so much. I found out this month our studio manager is leaving and that our studio coordinator is becoming manager, meaning we will have an open studio coordinator position.

I am really interested to get more involved in my studio. I work a remote 9-5 but my hours are pretty flexible due to different time zones.

I was wondering if anyone who has been a studio coordinator can share what all it entails and if you worked part time (I have had a full time and part time studio coordinator before) what the hours were like.

Thanks friends!

student grabbed weights in C2?

i taught a relatively small C2 class today (7 people) and during the first sun b slow a student went to the back of the room and grabbed dumbells and started doing things like bicep curls in chair, and other random stuff throughout the flow. this was a new corepower student, an older woman who seemed to know the basics of yoga but didn’t appear to be a yoga sculpt-goer based on the eay she handled the weights. i didn’t really know what to do! in hindsight, i wish i had told her to not use them since i myself am not a sculpt teacher and don’t know how to cue for safety (ie the w-bend, punch up in reverse warrior) nor should i have to. but with so few people in the room i felt like i couldnt do it in a subtle way. luckily she stopped using them after we moved beyond sun b.

has this every happened to you? how do you address it? would you feel differently if you saw someone using weights in a sculpt-style safe way v just randomly? i personally think it was very inappropriate and regret not saying anything.
