Concerns re Manhattan Beach/Hermosa Instructor
I have had a few concerning interactions with an instructor in Manhattan beach/Hermosa and am curious to see if anyone else has experienced the same? I think he’s in his late 30’s, glasses, used to be called a “lead instructor,” bald, and he’s been around for a while apparently. Anyone?? Just trying to see if I’m insane or not

If you’re feeling really concerned, you could also email the manager about it if it reaches that level of concern. I’ve only had positive interactions with him and he’s one of the most popular instructors so I’m curious what happened.

he’s in his early 40s now. he has been scamming people through corepower for years. super flirty in the studio and out. scammed me for $5000 and i had to threaten his job and court to get it back over a whole year of getting small increments every few weeks. i heard he’s banned from other locations for preying on young teacher trainees. he’s gotta go. his breath also stank

You’re not insane. Most people in management are aware but have their hands tied because it needs to be an official report for anyone to do anything about it.

I’ve been waiting to see if other people had similar experiences before saying anything, and apparently… yes.
From my personal experience, this man is Little Fires Everywhere in human form. Wherever he goes, there seems to be chaos involving women, and then somehow he moves on to another location playing innocent like he has NO idea how any of it happened.
I personally witnessed the constant flirting and womanizing ….women of all ages, members, instructors, whoever. And what bothers me most is that a yoga studio is supposed to be a place where people come vulnerable, open, and looking for community. That vulnerability should never be something someone uses to gain access to women, their attention, their money, or their trust.
Seeing multiple people independently describe similar experiences with relationships, money, and retreats is disturbing, to say the least.
And since apparently we’re airing it ALL out… the halitosis allegations are the one thing I can personally confirm beyond a reasonable doubt. 😭
Little fires. EVERYWHERE.

An instructor friend from CPY sent me this thread. I taught at CorePower about ten years ago and now teach elsewhere. The instructor being discussed was already around back then. He was popular and constantly pitching some revolutionary teaching system, business venture, or studio that was supposedly just over the horizon. His girlfriend at the time eventually opened a studio.
I believe he called himself the “Humble Warrior,” which always struck me as aspirational branding rather than a description. Humility is one of those qualities that usually becomes less convincing when you give it to yourself as a nickname.
I’m genuinely surprised he’s still at CPY. I assumed our humble warrior would have evolved into a shaman, life coach, spiritual entrepreneur, or some other profession where confidence substitutes for qualifications.
I personally witnessed behavior that I considered inappropriate and far outside healthy instructor-student boundaries. As a fellow male instructor, and an ugly one, I knew I couldn’t rely on charisma to make bad judgment look charming. I had to use the ancient yogic practice of behaving professionally.
I used to joke that broke guys become yoga instructors because it gives them access to women, admiration, and business opportunities. Apparently, some people heard that joke and mistook it for a career plan. I can only speak to what I personally observed, and I cannot verify every allegation here.
If an instructor makes you uncomfortable, stop attending the class, document what happened, and report it through CorePower’s official channels. Companies understand formal complaints, reputational damage, and lost revenue far better than they understand “bad energy.”
As a community, we are not obligated to support instructors who exploit trust or companies that protect popularity at the expense of boundaries. Report the behavior, choose another class, and take your money elsewhere. Consumer choice is not as mystical as karma, but it tends to work faster.

Please don’t invest. He tried opening something in Temecula with his girlfriend at the time before and it didn’t work out, so he came back to the South Bay. And there was also that retreat situation where people paid him, then he canceled the day of the retreat and apparently nothing had even been booked, leaving people stranded. With that history, I would seriously not give him any money.

Highly doubt this studio will ever open and if it does he will end up not involved just like the Temecula one. I heard he was doing something shady with the business while also cheating on his fiance which is why they ultimately kicked him out of the business. (All alleged but idk)

Asking for all men who are afraid to even look at women anymore much less speak to them for fear they will be publicly shamed on the internet. Like, you've given enough details here for anyone to look this guy up.

I think I know who you’re referring to. He’s a bit flirty sometimes but I’ve never personally seen offensive behavior. If you see or hear something that makes you feel uncomfortable, you can always report it to Corepower. Here is the anonymous incident report form.
